  • This video shows how to use a Tech 2 scan tool to adjust the idle speed on your Saab 9-5. Raising the idle speed by 50 RPM improves engine vibration at idle.
Apologies for my nasally voice in this video...dealing with bad allergies. :)
Please note that in addition to the Tech 2 and CANDI module, you also need a Saab software card for the Tech 2.

My 06' 9-5 2.3T sportcombi has a terrible vibration while sitting still in D. If i give it a little gas itll go away (sometimes ill put it in N while sitting at a red light) and even then its still pretty bad. Did the motor mounts but didnt help. Id like to try this one day. Thanks for the vid

I'm in the same boat. Motor mounts helped somewhat but definitely didn't cure it. Another thing to check is subframe bushings. But I did those too and still had vibration. This idle speed adjustment has made the most difference for me.

What other adjustments can you do with yours without a subscription? Or do you need a subscription? I'm still kind of confused on all of what you need or dont need. I want to be able to trouble shoot much easier, clear false error messages on the SID and teach myself how to build performance tunes. What exactly do I need using the assumption I have nothing at the moment. Thank you for your info. My saab is a 2006 9-3 aero 2.8 6 speed manual SS.

Sorry for the SUPER late reply...somehow missed all these comments a year ago. With the 9-3 I am not sure, as I have only ever used a Tech 2 on my 2006 9-5 and also on my 2009 Suburban. Security access hasn't been necessary and I've messed with quite a bit including changing the locking behavior, headlight setup, and more.

How about less vacuum in intake manifold - do you feel different in worse brake?

Haven't noticed a difference in braking at all. Sorry for the super late reply lol.
