Assassin's Creed Unity is still the game with the best NPC crowd density. There has never been a game that comes remotely close to how good that game looked while having the amount of NPCs on the screen at once. That was back when Ubisoft had good designers on board.

Nah, the increase density in NPCs don't work for me here, because they are clearly all in some sort of assembly line. They are lifeless drones, which doesn't translate organically. Which is why Rockstar Games shines, because they take care to make slight changes to NPC behavior to make them more realistic, responsive and dynamic to environmental shifts and events. For a studio like CDPR which tries their best to focus on the artistry behind the game, I imagine working with Epic to use unreal is really nice. Not having to worry about the purely technical aspects of improving or troubleshooting an engine will allow the studio to do what they do best without distractions. Plus unreal engine is just superb anyway.
how? its a moving bloody target who's feature milestone schedule is completely out their own hands, in what universe is that less complicated lol. The only bug free games UE produces are nothing like the games CDPR make.
Something amazing with watchdogs legion is that they fool you into thinking that every NPC has something, when in fact that NPC only begins to have a story and a routine when you check on them.
The Red Engine is built on top of Unreal Engine. It's basically a customized version of unreal. Them moving to Unreal 5 just makes sense. It's cleaner, cheaper, easier to find good talent, and a lot of the work they have done will port easily into the new engine.
The middle of the video it reminds me of the scene from Back to the Future 2 with all the future outfits of people walking around in the city. Esp where the SIN building is.
Looks amazing, imagine boys.. one day lol. Great Video. Been playing Witcher and Cyberpunk again on PS5. If the density of cars and people were higher then i would be happy but either way its a good time.
15:04 its also that they where opening a new branch studio. hiring for unreal must be so much easier/quicker to get the new hires going. i bet that was very important also
Luke, the main reason why CDPR walked away from RED engine and chose Unreal engine because it's easier to hire new developers to work on your new games. You don't have to explain to your new employees how your in-house engine works and waste time and money. You just pick the most popular and well known engine and hire developers who know how to work with it. It's that simple and sad.
Not really. They recently said they couldn't work on multiple projects with RED Engine because they had to customize the engine for each project separately. With Unreal Engine they can use stuff developed for one game for other games, and Epic helps them with technical stuff, so their developers focus on actually making games, while Epic takes care of developing stuff related to rendering and optimizations. They signed a deal with Epic that they'll help develop their engine for open world games by making suggestions what's needed and Epic implementing it.
That's not 'sad', what a weird way to look at it. Would you say it's 'sad' that cars are made with standards in mind (such as the side of the car the wheel is?), no. If it is accessible and works, that's good. Their game engine is not accessible or better so why bother.
@@Kondiqq You're right and that's not all there is to it. It is well documented fact that CDPR ran into significant number of issues with the engine when making Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk, requiring a lot of manhours into optimising and iterating on the engine. It just made more sense to switch to Unreal since it is an incredibly versatile engine that can be optimised well if you know what you are doing, has cross-platform support (think console issues from Cyberpunk) and has intuitive toolkits for developers. Moreover, CDPR has a new studio in the USA and people there are not familiar with REDEngine as much as the Polish developers who worked and/or wanted to work there. It is easy to onboard new developers in the USA and get contractors to work on the game. This way they can focus on the game rather than building/optimising the engine. The support from Unreal/Epic that you mentioned is the cherry on top.
I don’t see a comment in here saying it but if you did realism mods you decisively need to adjust your rasterization so make sure to equalize it and make sure each one has its own optimization
I just finished doing something similar. Night City & Dogtown look absolutely stunning when running the game in Ultra settings, in 4K at a locked 120fps. Best looking game ever made by a country mile, no contest!
I've only got a 1070 Ti and from launch to Phantom Liberty the game has only gotten better visually. FSR really helped. I've burned out on most of the content but firing up the game just to drive around is very relaxing.
God damn that looks insane, can't wait to get my new build, my current build (GTX 1060 3gb) can only run this game SOMETIMES haha, looking forward to insane visuals with my 5080. I need to remember to come back to this video so I can get these mods.
My personal favorite combo for a realistic look is to run the GITS 3.X mod with all the add-ons it mentions and the Vanilla Plus Visual Enhancement LUT mod, no green tint file. Looks great to me that way.
I use Reshade with every game, I just drag and drop it into the game folder and then modify it for each game. I highly recommend it, it's super easy and it makes such a massive difference for almost no FPS drop (usually I lose maybe 1 or 2 FPS).
@@kaito462 You don't need a 4090 to add reshade to games, and even an ENB. I use reshade for most of my games, and ENB especially with Skyrim and the visuals are truly an upgrade. Consoles just have piss poor modding in general if you want to call it that. if you seriously want to mod. Get a PC and learn how to mod on PC.
@@williepete6150 The story is fine, but the gameplay is incredibly lackluster. There are MUCH better RPGs since the game is incredibly shallow, there are better shooters, better open world games, better stories even. The game doesn’t excel at anything it does.
Game is almost 4 years old now and still one of the best, if not the best looking game out there graphically, even without mods. And it's so immersive because of the forced first-person mode.
I feel like the only reason why they would abandon their engine for Unreal 5 would be future proofing. Sure their engine can be pushed to be able to showcase some crazy graphics but who knows maybe behind close doors they were shown they can bring something close to this that's not as "heavy" even for modern consoles to be able to run at a solid 60 fps. We'll really never know for sure until their name game starts getting shown off, that's just what I would assume would be why between future proofing and be able to handle a larger load of code.
You should use the cyberpunk ultra plus mod with partial pathtracing. Framerate has a significant impact on how good the graphics look and full pathtracing slows down the framerate way too much.
Been playing CP2077 again, one of my favorite games. But for a twist, been playing WITHOUT mods, as I've never done that. At release I was installing mods to fix things. Over my other half dozen playthroughs I've always modded it. Game is still great without mods, although some QOL stuff I do miss, especially removing glitches off interface, auto area looting, better car handling, and interface overhauls.
It's truly photorealistic, that blur looks exactly how I see the world if I take my glasses off. xD But ngl, everyone who cares about visuals should learn to use Reshade imo. It makes such a huge difference to be able to individually adjust the visuals in every game. For example the first thing I did in Cyberpunk was to reduce the green tint with reshade, that's so annoying in this game otherwise. Also the sharpening options you have with ReShade, let me tell you, in times of AI Upscalers those sharpeners are a super big deal, it makes the games visuals crisp clear like native.
My old 2070super is having a stroke just thinking about this lmao. Reshade is great though, I use it in so many games, have for years. I pick out a preset and then tweak it to my liking
There's two kinds of RPGs One where you play the role of your own character, and one where you play the role of a set character who can be slightly different depending on player input Do we have distinctions for these ? Because I don't know what that would be. But I'd say a lot of people who call Cyberpunk 2077 a "bad RPG but a good action game" could benefit from the distinction
I think they changed to Unreal Engine mostly because it is a well known engine by people who are in college right now, so they skip the training and people can get to work immediately without losing too much time.
Holy crap, that monitor, I'm using a let's say "budget" 34 inch ultrawide, that's a massive step up. Edit: oh ouch...it's almost 2x the price (usd) in my country...
Forced low depth of field and lens flares always had the opposite effect for me, making things feel less realistic and less immersive. Because those are elements that only exist from capturing a world through a camera lens, and NOT your naked eye. It's a first person game where I'm supposed to place myself in the shoes of my character. I should be seeing the world as clearly as they do.
Depth of field does actually exist in your eye because it's litteraly just a lens (your brain simply ignores it most of the time)... though I do agree in this case it's a bit heavy handed
Actually lens flares can also happen, but tend to be mostly limited to heavy light sources like the SUN and don't look quite like the ones in glass lenses
More cyberpunk and old assassins creed game content please(: would be dope if you spun a wheel of 5 old games, and the one it lands on you have to play for a stream, another wheel could be the number of missions you have to complete. Could be cool👌🏻👍🏻
Luke has just now started using Reshade, but he should know that he doesn't need paid mods or luts to get great results (that lut actually makes the game look washed out). With that LG OLED, you'd want to enable HDR and tonemap it using HDR tools in Reshade. Much better upgrade!

Their game engine is not accessible or better so why bother.
this doesn’t sound right. red engine can’t be that complicated.
@@renga1997 Thank you, that's a good explanation.
C2077 is going to become one of those games that people mod the hell out of and not actually play
I have that monitor, I absolutely love it. Cant imagine going back to a flat boy.
Play in VR with LukeMod for even more epicness
Dogtown shouldn't be that alive
Cyberpunk 2077 will go down for me as one of the best RPG's ever made, hands down
Wild that this video goes up the same week I start getting back into this game
Another game that had EXCELLENT usage of NPCs, especially considering the time that it came out, was Assassin's Creed Unity. 🤠
I don’t see a comment in here saying it but if you did realism mods you decisively need to adjust your rasterization so make sure to equalize it and make sure each one has its own optimization
dude i just broke out of my addiction to cyberpunk. F***
The game he can’t mention is path of exile 2 that’s why he’s searching for something to fill the void
I just finished doing something similar. Night City & Dogtown look absolutely stunning when running the game in Ultra settings, in 4K at a locked 120fps. Best looking game ever made by a country mile, no contest!
Been modding cyberpunk 2077 since april. Its been delightful!
There is no more complex, unique and alive world than Night city.
Mods like these are never coming to the Ps5.
PCMR :)
@@alexor081 if a 4090 is struggling, idk how can you play on ps5
@@kaito462 You don't need a 4090 to add reshade to games, and even an ENB. I use reshade for most of my games, and ENB especially with Skyrim and the visuals are truly an upgrade. Consoles just have piss poor modding in general if you want to call it that. if you seriously want to mod. Get a PC and learn how to mod on PC.
I really hope the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel actually use those Megabuildings interiors.
The Machine God is strong with this Luke
Carry on Arch Magos, thy work is indeed the Emperor's will made manifest.
Very cool. Shame the video looks so muddy? I guess that must be down to how you captured it (your PiP looks clear?)
Happy to be here early Luke!
I feel like jumping to Unreal is to save money as you can hire new devs that can start straight away as most people learn Unreal.
For some reason, no matter how amazing and beautiful cyberpunk2077 can look, I stll don't feel the urge to play it...
Yeah people focus a lot on the graphics, which is fair but for me the setting and art style was what drew me in.
That’s because the actual game is mid lol
@@melancholyentertainment aside from great story and gameplay
@@williepete6150 The story is fine, but the gameplay is incredibly lackluster. There are MUCH better RPGs since the game is incredibly shallow, there are better shooters, better open world games, better stories even. The game doesn’t excel at anything it does.
The shadows are so oppressive, maybe its just the contrast being too high, but the light areas look washed out and the dark areas look like a void.
Hey Luke! Hope you had a great thanksgiving weekend with your family!
I have been wanting to play through CP77 again too!
coming from the sims community, paying for a reshade preset sounds actually insane.
Game is almost 4 years old now and still one of the best, if not the best looking game out there graphically, even without mods. And it's so immersive because of the forced first-person mode.
cyberpunk2077 has to be one of the top 10 games of all time
I hope GTA6 has a unique world building and not just better graphics than RDR2. Complex world and cities is what i want.
Watching this video made my 4060 act up
I feel like the only reason why they would abandon their engine for Unreal 5 would be future proofing.
Game is still great without mods, although some QOL stuff I do miss, especially removing glitches off interface, auto area looting, better car handling, and interface overhauls.
all those "photo-realism" mods are always just adding either rain or water puddles lol
Always
Not here tho
clearly said by someone who has never properly modded cyberpunk
@@vl3244 he probably can't mod because he's on console lmaoo
Bro is good at doing sponsored videos
Ultra realistic….0 resolution
The resolution looks fine and It’s a UA-cam video it probably looks much better in real life
Unfortunately the recording quality is really bad, but his facecam is in 4k 😂🙈
Exactly
Thank you Veilguard for bringing us this video 🙏
Nobody uses an umbrella in the future, it seems
It's truly photorealistic, that blur looks exactly how I see the world if I take my glasses off. xD
But ngl, everyone who cares about visuals should learn to use Reshade imo.
The graphic: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
The pc: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
There's two kinds of RPGs
One where you play the role of your own character, and one where you play the role of a set character who can be slightly different depending on player input
Do we have distinctions for these ? Because I don't know what that would be.
But I'd say a lot of people who call Cyberpunk 2077 a "bad RPG but a good action game" could benefit from the distinction
This is super cool! Also Luke I'd love to interview you on my content creator show!!
I think they changed to Unreal Engine mostly because it is a well known engine by people who are in college right now, so they skip the training and people can get to work immediately without losing too much time.
ah she, here we go again. *fires up cyberpunk*
Enjoy it Luke, its very fun to mess around
Holy crap, that monitor, I'm using a let's say "budget" 34 inch ultrawide, that's a massive step up.
Edit: oh ouch...it's almost 2x the price (usd) in my country...
It doesn't look like real life, but it does look like it's from a big budget animated series
