Don't rob the red 4 series, it would be criminal especially with it being a classic model. Either do both up, use the red as ur daily. Look good behind the red king.
this truck seems in better shape then the other 4 series you have rn. i would keep this one and get it back in shape. then use it as a daily truck for work only

Great video Tim. I would keep the red 4 series and do it up And still do the blue 4 series as well but over a fees years when you can afford it as you have achieved so much, and learnt so much.
Surely it will be easier to use this as your 4 series, and get this how you want it.

Personally I think you should keep that truck as it already looks nice and customize it and make it your own
rig the blue 4 series fully up as you are doing and just tweak a few things on the red 4 series don't pull it apart! put some black smoke on the stacks then use it as your day to day truck. use the r series as a show truck

That would be the simple option
Having been involved with a handful of major restorations It’s not uncommon to unearth something better as you embark on your journey and we always aimed to have 1 or 2 others in the yard to donate parts. I do echo what others have said and think at this point you would be far better off to walk away from the original and spend your time and money on the new purchase. It wouldn’t even be hard to use back end out of your 1st 4 series if you definitely want a “twin tag” arrangement. Enjoy the videos, cheers from down under in New Zealand

Well. I am currently on holiday at my aunts house and my aunt is babysitting her friends 8 month old while they go on holiday. The funny thing is. The baby started crying when Tim said “What’s that noise” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
New parts must be expensive if you're buying a working one and stripping it down to fix your broken one😂😂

I can understand this type of path and solution Tim went into.
In terms of cost on refurbing the blue 4 Series.
It is cheaper to buy an existing one, and cannibalize its parts for the blue 4 Series compared to actually buying each part you need brand new off Scania or even used one's can still be pricey.
But I also understand how its kind of not nice to cannibalize the Red Scania as it is a runner after all. And she looks pretty decent with her own character (that lion cub/cat sticker print at the back)
If anything, I would say yes Cannibalize it as financially it is the better option.
BUT
Make sure that what's left of the Red Scania, you need to build it up again into a decent running Lorry for someone to have.
But yea, at a glance, that red 4 series seems to be the better option to refurb, but then again you already started the Blue 4 series and advertised it ever since the start of the channel so its not that easy to just abandon that one for the red 4 series as you basically broke your promise if you did so.
Tim, as a 4 series build partner, I implore you: scrap the blue one and cut your losses. Keep the red one and customise it how you choose. It will be much better in the long run. Even as you listed all of the things it had that you wanted to move over, you can tell you're thinking about it.

The old 4 series needs so many parts that the red one will end up being a barely running truck that won't be useful for anything. I personally think you should make the red one the main truck that you fix up since it's still not too late. Love the videos though 😃

Hi Tim. Great video. That is a genuine classic. My dad had one brand new in 2002. Remember the top line classic spec included the folding steps, leather seats, the full rear cab cabinet, wood dash and the long range tanks. I loved that unit. Is she a 580? It's definitely a V8! It's too good to use for parts in my view. A light bit of tlc and that would be a good working truck...
If he used his chassis and the cab and breaks off the other truck then he can have 2 good trucks

I agree with others here. What's the point in using the red 4 Series as a doner truck, I would refurbish the Red one, as it's at a good starting point, plus there is plenty of content to go in the red one. Sorry, but the blue one has met its maker in the great Scania Truck Stop in the sky xxx

I think to refurbish the red R series. It's going to be much quicker and has a lot of the features you want on the blue one. Unfortunately you need to weigh up the practical and costs sides of the project. We could be 2 years down the line and the blue one still being worked on. Or 2 years down the line and be showing the red one at shows.

Was a beast that truck used to run with them lads at Shirley’s tankers when the company I worked for had a fleet of 480 magnums and we could never keep up with them on the hills in Scotland

Be easier to use the full cab if you panning to take that many parts off it.

I'd personally use the red truck fix what's needed on it and hire someone to drive it to produce you an income, and what you make out into the blue 4 series but other than that I love the content 👍
He don’t need a driver or the need to operate trucks. UA-cam and all the other social media channels are his revenue. Look at what he’s bought since jumping ship from being employed as a HGV driver in a short space of time!

Sounds like a good plan. One genuine Scania 4 series and one made up of aftermarket. The blue one was your first truck do not let it go. You will get there in the end. 😊

For everyone saying he should keep the red one... probably agree. However, I can't help but assume his plan would be to raffle it off once ready in a bid to recoup what hes spent buying it. Thus making all the spare parts essentially free.

I would suggest not stripping the Red 4 series rework on it keep the stuff and use it or if someone can use that red 4 series for you to haul stuff and get extra earnings. While working on the blue 4 series kind of waste if you ask me Tim to strip the parts on that 4 series that is working and put them on the other 4 series.
Volvo for for your mrs.tim that she can use, the blue 4 series for show, the red 4 series for haulage or daily and the R series of both show and usage.
Keep the working truck you just got.
Another brilliant video / content Tim, I enjoy watching your videos, you are literally living my dream life, I always had a love for trucks, but usually stick with cars & vans. I’ve done some general buying / restoration work on friends or my own vehicles ( small scale to what you do ) but I haven’t got the confidence or the financial back up to do what you do. Shame your so far from me, I’d love to come & see & meet all you guys. I have to say / agree with so many other subs etc. Just update / refresh the the red Scania & keep the other 4 series as the main full restoration project. As it does seem a shame to take all the parts off the red one that’s fully working & as you say has got more going for it & a better spec. The other 4 Series truck will be worth so much more resale wise with its full resto history & of course it has your mark on it as a title. Totally upto you what you do, but that to me makes more sense. Daniel.
keep the red one and use the good bits off old blue for spare parts save some money and time,ps leave front door open saves seconds on your escape when you tell Mrs trucker tim .great vlogs
I would keep the red one turn that into a twin tag and swap the engine to the v8 from the old truck and get rid of the rest of it and then you have a 4 series with no extra cost mate

You have done what I did with my ERF, Bought it with the intentions of pulling it apart and doing more bits but its too good to rip to bits.

@truckertim just like everyone... Keep the red 4series and fix it up en drive it the bleu 4 series is a NEXT level rebuild... If you could find a 4 series with a broken chassis you could take parts from that and keep 2 4 series end 1 R serie
persnally just keep the truck and work is aswell as the r series then do bits and bobs to it as you go along better in the long run
Everybody seems to forget that the blue truck is a tag axle, and the red one a pusher axle. After restoration a tag axle done right holds a lot more value. Plus it drives a lot better compared to a pusher.
Do the blue one, rip that ugly pusher axle one a part.
Or, just put the tag axle set up on the red one, and save a load of work.
The blue one will always be a money pit.

Tim just saying whys the donor vehicle parked infront of the work vehicle wouldn't it make sense to keep the donor 4 series behind the r series also would be created to see the volvo in the unit aswell as the scanias or infront of the unit if it doesnt fit in thr unit. Its nice to see another running 4 series video I've watched your video picking up your original 4 series a couple of times because I really like it.should do a trucker tim trucks and coffee event like caffeine and machine if you can get permission or your own meet up. You could also take the good parts off the donor 4 series then put aftermarket parts on the donor truck then start using the donor as a Fleet truck and hire another driver I guess and expand the company
Definitely keep the red 4 series and do it up. Its already in good condition with a bit work it would look amazing.

i have a argument for and ageinst i think you should build your red one up and make it look good but i love seeing the restoreation off your blue one only problem is your blue one is a tag axle and the red one is a midlift
sell the Blue as "for part" or a "project" and then paint the new one blue / Trucker Tim coloured and no-one will ever question anything haha

Why not just build the red one on to the refurbished blue chassis straight and just put new loom and piping and use the best engine ,gearbox and axles from which ever are in best condition and sell all the other left overs as second hand spares? Would be the cheapest option! Unless you have the budget for both then just go nutts haha !!! It ll be entertaining what ever you do anyway good luck !
I reckon you should drop the v8 into the new 4 series and maybe even that the plate off the blue one and register it on the new one! It's seem a lots better of a platform to work off!!!!

Tim is that a V8 because if it is then you should of brought that one in the first place we bought a lorry from export and we couldn't be bothered and it would be better to keep the new truck it's just to good to be taken to bits
Trucker Tim. I agree with a lot of people. I would keep and restore the red 4 series.....Strangely enough I know the company who had it from new and I can tell you that all of their motors always had genuine parts.

As others have said, keep this one and scrap the other one. Or if you prefer, swap all the good bits onto the new chassis, including the cab. Less work and less to strip. Better cab on a refurbished chassis.

Tim that 4 series you bought is a proper spec truck just needs some tlc and its better than ever, it would be a shame if you used it for parts.
