- After a yearlong hiatus Descent Disciples is back with a bang. One of the best bike racers in the country, Cory Williams, graces the series with his presence. Shortly after completing the SoCal triple crown - winning the road, criterium, and time trial titles, he had the energy for one last push before shutting his 2021 season down. Cory lead me down Glendora Mountain Road on the east side of LA. This is a descent he knows like the back of his hand and it shows. He has put in hundreds of hours of training here and has a formidable KOM time on the descent. We came within 10 seconds of that time which is extremely impressive considering he was working into a headwind, pushing out a normalized power number of 303 after a huge block of racing.

You guys were flying! That was me going up at 9:43. As soon as I realized it was SAFA and Cory I turned my head and they were gone around the corner. Been waiting for this to drop!
lol was wondering who that mere mortal was!
Awesome!
Watching this I can’t fathom how some of the tour riders reach 70mph at times 😬😬😬😬
What a road to descend on 😘
Bravo ami
Finally did this route for the first time today. Makes this video even more fun to watch!
1 video more for enjoy!! Thanks Safa
Great!
Something looks very wrong with Corys bike fit. Saddle too high?
사파를 보면 최고에요
프로 맞죠?
너무 멋있어요!
SAFA 1~!!!

🔥🔥🔥
My Apple Watch asked me if I wanted to start a workout. I’m just watching this video on the sofa 😂 heart rate is HIGH
Number 1 beast for a reason but also shout out to Safa for keeping up! Good stuff here, thanks!
He'd get smoked in the world tour
Believe me safa could go faster on his own .
@@forsnowboard who cares? Enjoy the video homie
@@abone2pick Safa could barely follow his lines
It’s so funny to IMMEDIATELY upon arrival I have to read peoples just sour opinions. But anyways….right on Leon! I was waiting for this one since last month
The amount of trust these guys are putting in their tires is beyond me
It's what you do.
That's extreme 😂😂
@@johnandrews3568 lol I’m guessing he just doesn’t want riders to trust their bikes
No $#!+!!! Bro
I dont trust my break too xD
About 3 minutes in, and he's already blasting up a hill at over 40kmh... I would've called it a day right there
if this isnt the most relatable comment, idk what is
so was safa
It’s mph… even more crazy
yeah haha
@@MatterhornValais heeeeehhhhhh???
Inspirational, makes me wanna go ride. Props for holding that wheel and getting that footage Safa, amazing stuff!
Road biking has to be at the beginning of a huge popularity growth in the US.
Who else's heart rate started pumping watching this? You guys are insane! Thank you for the video.
That was me in the smart car at 9:05 lol. I saw you guys flying and recognized the both of you. Been waiting for this vid ever since
Haha...that's not a smart car
@@dn6008 🤦
Loving the flow through the corners while carrying so much speed but do you know what's even better? Cory putting the hammer down to get back up to speed. The whole thing was poetry in motion. Great video, guys!
Man on a mission.
w/ his pedaling style, you can really see/hear the watts being put down. another classic video, congrats
GMR down in 12m 15s, sweet fancy moses... I'm 2 minutes off and that's like ~300/16000 on the GMR downhill to the gate. I've taken SOME corners at similar speeds but doing the whole thing pinned is madness. Even more kudos to you and Cory for doing this when GMR isn't closed to cars.
Nice platform tht front player is on.
13:24 - OVER 1kW of power?! That's more than in typical e-bike motor!
God DAMN SAFA u2 were flying...............the power in Corys legs is most impressive
Power to weight off the charts 📈
GREAT VIDEO! Reminds me of the the OLD DAYS! My old days! When I was young! Dumb! And full of #@% We used to do down hills like this those were the days when we didn't use a HELMET! I was riding a custom built TRACK Bike that was converted to road! SUPER TIGHT And SUPER FAST And it was SUPER QUICK! Totally insane! Everything was good as long as my fork would nut gunk up on me. My wildest ride was! Doing a hole shot down the middle of 3 motor cycles and clearing 3 cars on one pass! FOR SURE THOSE DAYS ARE NO MORE!
Thank you for blessing us with this incredible video Safa, glad it will be online for a long time! They are important to show others what's possible on a bike with fitness, technique and control. And thanks to Cory as well for being the Nations #1✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
What an exhilarating ride. Quite possibly the best video you have made. Beautiful scenery, open road, and very skilled rider. Cory does not take chances on blind corners. He is always to the right in his lane on the blind corner. A great cyclist and hope to see more of him here!
My goodness. I feel dizzy. Haha Also feels like i can feel the wind but that was just my electric fan. 5d effect 😂. Cory and Safa wooohooo. Thanks Guys for the video. Fookin Love it!
He's just at one with his bike... pro-level handling and some parts just got me flinching, especially when he took the car.... nerves of steel, confidence and skill. Not everyone has it. I've gone 63kph on a mountain down before sharp hair pins and didn't dare push it more. Not when you're unfamiliar with the route, and traffic. So I really hand it to these two excellent cyclists - you really have to traverse across the entire width of the road as you lean into the corner to take the turn, and the thought of a car showing up on the other side is just..... not worth it.
Keep safe, cos one twitch is all it takes. I don't wish to ride in such manner I risk limb and life for speed. Wanna get home safe to family and to be able to live to ride another day for as many years the body is able. The pros taking on over 100km on those long mountain downs..... I'm just shaking my head in awe. Just mindset, nerve, skill, and confidence.
Kudos on an exceptional descent.
72 kmh is my max but after what I saw here - I'm speechless. Some of the corners - you really know the road well! There were quite few where for sure, I would make my pants smell bad...
What a ride!
Do you climb (cycle) before you descend?
We did climb up here before filming down. Strava links in the description of all my vids.
how does he sway the bike like that. so smooth!
It's an S-WORKS
@@jblanchard46 Yes it's an S-Works Bike.
Wtf in the gym its hard to hold 400w for 10sec 😂
@SAFA Brian & @nationsnumber1beast those group sets sounded like a swarm of killer bees 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 zzzzzzzzzzzzzz 📌
POV The cameraman: just casually running 40mph 💀
That's why I love racing bikes.
Lightness and felling of speed, freedom, flying
Brilliant. This angle, video game makers must take note. This is basically how a cycling game should be and look and sound.
Wondering who's data numbers are displayed, yours or Cory? IDK how that works but if it's your data then Cory pushing 30% harder and that's insanity 🤯 Great work amazing footage cheers!!
Thank you so much for the work you put in to this Safa. This one's going straight to the Smithsonian.
Dare devil descents 😍⚔️🚲 I wish my monster gravel can handle that also 🤣
I still don't know how guys can ride with no gloves!! Especially when they are really cooking!! My hands would be a sweaty mess, lol. Great video and Cali has the best roads!
I’m tired just watching someone put in that many watts going downhill. Sheesh!
That’s my old stomping ground’s! That looks like GMR.
The last push before the final corner was INSANE. That road is also home turf for me and y'all had me like 😬😬😬
Cory has crazy power!!! But honestly big ups to you Safa!!! You held your own, you are truly amazing
Dude how are you filming and descending with one hand ahaha That is crazy
Great bike handling! I thought I knew GMR but not at those speeds. That’s my favorite 9 miles (15k) in SoCal.
Astonishing to me that you can trust the tarmac that much on those skinny tyres.
that was insanely fast, great to see descent disciples back in action!
I've seen that guy racing crits, and this did not disappoint!
So Good!So Talented!both you guys are! Superb footage Brian!
Going to be GOATED! can't wait
Great to see anoher episode, this time you successfully managed to ride with a truly mad descender. I of course don't want to say anything bad about the girls you recently cooperated with (like Isabel King) but it's needless to deny that watching a descender like Cory Williams is a different experience.
Any vids in Marin CA?
Got my Bicycling magazine today and read the article on you Safa. Very nice. So of course had to check out UA-cam and voila first video was this one. Awesome ride.
🙏
Wow amazing road bike
Can i get one 😁
#dreambike
I don't know what impresses (or terrifies) me more: Passing the car or the 1100 watts of power. Beast for a reason!
A guy putting approximately 400 watts in decent, absolutely good stuff!
Man i've been waiting for this collab. Been watching your videos because it motivates me to keep on cycling. Even better with Cory Williams in it, I am biased of course because he is my favorite cyclist.
The power numbers are elite.
I’m assuming the it was your power meter on the screen, so if you’re putting out 1100 watts in Cory’s draft…. Can’t imaging his numbers!!! Awesome video!
Its the bike handling for me....WOW!!!
I can't believe how fast u r
He is so fast!!!!! 🤝🏼
I don’t care what any 1 says: Cory is the man.
Man I’m on 57 minutes and it’s driving me nuts! Lol 1:00pm hurry up!!
this was very impressive! But i think you would need to carefully go over the route before riding, because rocks can easily fall on the road at night, and one slip on a rock might mean a nasty accident.
Damn. I'm liking the sound of the freewheel. Is it DT Swiss?
Been waiting so long for this one
Safa, the fact that you actually have to keep up with these beasts is just AMAZING...!!! I love Dante´s video and now I´m gonna love this one too. True inspiration. Great Art, Safa, please keep it up.
🙏
How wide are the tires your running
Damm where can you find roads like this on the east coast?
On the west coast.
I don't doubt that he's strong, but his lumbering pedaling style makes him seem very unstable. Rocking all over the place.
The way he oscillates his bike back and forth at max power, its crazy how he manages to keep control
I wouldn't even say "max" power
c'est absolument génial!
Waooow..amazing speed...
That was beautiful.
Hey, SAFA my VOL. wash 80 so VOl.12 is the listen to, VOL. 80 Imax 3d with the right sound something like that.:::
oh sorry VOL.12 episode..... ok but nice hub sounds::))
hmmm seems to help on my smart trainer to go outside.
Greetings from Amsterdam

fun:)
Sensational Ride♥️ love from Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!. Videos like these just get you amped to ride!. Awesome!!, next one should be Cory and Justin. Another heavy duty ride, well done gents. Stay healthy and keep on pedaling.
Would love to see the heart rate for this ride cause I know mine was up just watching.
Throwing around high watts like bowser spitting 🔥 ! Videos stayin too dope my man!
dawggggg we need this yesterday!!!
I wish I had hills where I lived. I have snow, flatness, and sadness.
in the location it says Rd 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴 jjjj 😂😂😂
that beard is not aerodynamic.... hahaha JK you guys are so strong, even descending your watts are unreal, this is motivational
very impressive you were flying. you definitely know the road and the corners to ride that fast.
Holy smokes. Wow. Crazy bike handling skills around those corners.
He spooks me out.
This is as cool as it gets. The two guys whos content is getting me into this sport. Can't wait for my first summer of riding!
Learned a new technique of using your legs to turn! If I had known sooner, could have prevented some of my scars 😅
Don't forget to dig in with the outside leg 👍👍👍
Wicked ride but I can't condone that shit you pulled with the car at minute 9:10. I am surprised ZWIFT is OK with it as that is what get people killed.
Someone knows how to get this type of footage (like videogame, or 3rd person view) and where Safa puts the GoPro? 😅ty!
40km+ up that hill I was like 'wtf' is going on. What an athlete.
Bit late for questions but you on sworks cotton tyres with latex tube mate? Also massive kudos 👍🏻👏👏👏
How can you not want to go crush it after watching this
AWWW YIIII. FINALLY
how do you see road hazards going that fast? seems like pot holes or something is under your tire before you know it.. passing that car was crazy!!!
Why do these riders size down on their frames? Look at all the clearance he has when he stands up. Do they like the look of the seat post sticking up like that or are they just trying to save grams? Genuine question.
Where do these vehicle-less roads come from?
SoCal
I feel like dog ass rn, but watching this makes me wanna go for a HARD ride
Praise the lord of descent
This needs to be in VR. 😁
Down GMR in a hurry. It is 6% or 7%
(according to my Garmin 820).
