What is most striking is this- not ONE regrets losing their faith. Indeed, many report a feeling of freedom, having thrown off the shackles of religious superstition. Given your background, you are ideally situated to help others recover from their childhood indoctrination. Welcome to the real world, the world of science and reason.

Comments like "this proves he was a narcissist" is beyond ridiculous - people listen to a few UA-cam programmes or read some articles in a magazine & think they're experts - they're not.
Narcissism now gets tossed around by these "armchair diagnosticians"" who have no formal learning other than the UA-cam programs they watch That scene in both movies is nothing that points to narcissism - especially when one is the boss & employer & the other a long term employee.
The boss/ employer is going to say & decide on matters & may appear harsh - that's not "narcissism" by a long shot, not even close. Bosses are in charge & decide on matters bc that's part of their job as boss/ owner & employer & rightly so.
So were this situation real it shows " Dan" acting as the boss &, putting some boundaries around the matter. Further, in one movie the employee quits instantly & the other doesn't! So saying "he was a "Narcissist" is beyond ridiculous.

Patricia Cook are you aware of all the facts? She couldn’t have had everything still as you put it. Her husband screwed her over in secret using his legal knowledge to continuously reduce her financial entitlement to a pittance and after years of bringing up their children almost single handedly he removed even visitation rights. I don’t agree with what she did but he also gaslighted the hell out of her and drove her to this temporary insanity where his own appalling behaviour backfired in a terrible way for all the family. There were no winners.

Dan (R.I.P.) drove her insane. The series really show both Dan (R.I.P.) & Betty’s characters pretty well. She’d lived all her life for her husband & children; Dan (R.I.P.) ripped her of everything she valued. The devaluing, rejection, abandonment etc…can really drive you insanely off your supposed personality. They both needed help however, stubbornness leads to no one winning. May their souls (Dan & Linda) continue to R.I.P. & I hope Betty found her peace plus the children too.

I have no sympathy for Linda. By all accounts she knew that Dan was a married man and actively went out to nab him once she knew he had a crush on her. She was fired from a previous job for being unprofessional - sitting on people’s laps and calling the mother of her boyfriends children fat etc in front of them. I would imagine she did send her nasty messages through the post.

Exactly. I would pity Linda if she had thought that Dan was single and stayed with him, but she knew he was married with children and that he hadn't divorced Betty yet. They were having an affair before Betty was even separated from him. She was a homewrecker. She didn't deserve to die but she never should have walked into that relationship in the first place. The minute she aged and a younger girl came in, she'd be kicked to the curb just like Betty was. There will always be someone younger, prettier, different, and men who only care about physical looks will trade up and out whenever they can.

    IMO:
*Betty* had no right to kill Dan. Yes, she gave him the best years of her life only for him to leave her for a younger woman, and I get that frustration, but she was a mother and should've prioritized her children's needs. They'll suffer forever for this.
*Dan* was the lesser of 2 evils. He shouldn't have cheated, and the problems he and Betty had could've been handled better if they were both simply more mature. Still, he didn't deserve to die.
*Linda* is the only one for whom I feel NO sympathy. She should've minded her own business. Instead, she messed with a married man and fanned the flames to an already problematic family. I once had a married man try to get with me, but I told him I wanted NONE of that trouble and then blocked him. I have enough problems in my life, lol.

@@ramonayoung4836 I’m unsympathetic to Betty Broderick because my sister was in a far worse situation. She was married to a total loser that refused to work. She had to get a job to make sure her children had health insurance and was expected to be the homemaker and the breadwinner. She wouldn’t leave the creep because of religious reasons and partially out of fear. She finally became such a fragile mess he asked my parents to take her in. When a priest finally suggested that they marriage be annulled he was trying to get her to pay him child support every month. That’s why I don’t feel the least bit sorry about Betty Broderick getting almost half a million a year in alimony and a house paid for by her ex. Dan Broderick was an adulterer and could be a jerk but at least he went to work every day provided for his family and was willing to pay his ex-wife more than enough to live on

@@zt1053 same here with 2 sisters and they're both great now. But the point I was making was the comparison of the 2 versions of this story of which the Netflix version makes betty less aggressive than the first and like most cases, there's 3 sides to every story. dan and Linda didn't deserve the death that betty imposed on them. Hope your sister is now a strong and successful role model for her children and that they're all good now.💗

The only thing that surprises me is that he stayed with her as long as he did - he didn't push her over the top - her crazy behavior and temper tantrums pushed him into leaving her. RIP Dan.

Why did this happen? It's because he opened the door to the devil with his adulteress affair. When you open the sin door, it's a tough one to close. Normally, all hell breaks loose because of it. He brought it on himself. 💯

Love these watchable older films.. the real good actresses, not some fish lipped perfect barbie doll classes as a Hollywood star who cant even shed a real tear . We had less choice of viewing back then, but what we did have was worth watching. Now i can scan through over 100 channels and its all rubbish ! i love Meredith Baxter, Mare Winningham, Swoosie kutz(?) thats not the name but something like that.. all the real actresses..

This hell will drive victim to craziness. The victim have to so careful to not to end up in jail. His fsncy car, he sold the house, her jewlery, he find his new woman, he was evil and he lived without any consequences. Women has No power! And how can you blame thr mistress or his wife. As always, there are two sides to every story! From the beginning, when confronted by Betty about his affair with Linda, Dan denied it.! When Dan told her he was leaving, Betty's behavior became erratic and agressive. Dan served her with divorce papers after she entered his home and smeared cake over his bed, walls, etc. She returned to his home and broke furniture, dishes, and pictures. In the divorce settlement she was awarded $16,000 per month, but this did not satisfy her, nothing seemed to satisfy her! she fought about the money, the house, etc., But it was really about the betrayal! She was jealous of Linda because she had taken over her life with Dan. I think, given her behavior, Dan tried to deal with Betty as best he could, The more outrageous her behavior, and the more out of control she became, the more he reacted! His was the cool head! With his high profile and legal expertise, he had the edge. He fined her for leaving vulgar messages on his answering machine, which by the way, the children heard, and he was awarded custody of the children because of her unstableness.During this long drawn out battle with Dan, was she thinking about what effect her behavior was having on the children? Betty was a smart, attractive, woman, who could have made a life for herself without Dan Broderick, but unfortunately, to her detriment, she could not let go! Every woman who has experienced a similar situation, can identify with Betty's anger and bitterness, but she carried things too far. I think she intentionally killed Dan and Linda, for which she shows no remorse, and the jury got it right the second time, and she is now paying the ultimate price.
