  • This method makes pitching really simple, and it works!
    Pitching can be difficult and with so much instruction out there it can be overwhelming, so in this video I keep it really simple and show you how just focusing on the weight in the club head can make this tricky shots suddenly seem super simple

    This video is awesome. It's one of the best pitching videos I've seen, especially when it comes to finding a consistent lowpoint in the swing that bottoms out in the same place every time. (and shallow)

    So many high handicap golfers would try to hit the ball directly at the pin, often ending a little short only to watch the ball roll agonisingly down into the water, so discussing where to aim and how to hit the shot to get it close to the pin is what we want to focus on, for a one (or certain 2) putt strategy. Professionals are confident that they will only take 2 putts when on the green, whereas amateurs fear 3 putts so feel they have to aim closer to the pin even though that’s higher risk. If you can talk about this aspect as well when facing this kind of situation would also be helpful. Thanks.

    Another great video Chris. When I have this shot my preference is to pull a 7 or 8 iron and hit a low runner as I am better able to control the run-out, and where the ball ends up. When I hit a 54 or 60 degree wedge I usually have no problem hitting the green and am mostly able to hit close to the landing spot I picked out. The issue is what happens after the ball lands. Will it spin and stop dead (when I’m looking for a bit of run out) or will it not spin at all and roll way past the hole. Do you have any videos on controlling the spin and distance control on these shots ? Thanks

  • @Dinga631
    @Dinga631 3 роки тому +1

    Pure genius have been trying this with a 60deg on the range today and it brilliant. Not as tricky as I thought really releasing the club as you swing through. Tried it with straight face and even slightly open 👍👍👍
    Just need the confidence to go at it on the course.

    Thanks for the video Chris. My trouble is that even when I get the technique, my head doesn’t allow me to use it as I have struggled for so long and my confidence is rock bottom. Any tips on how I can stop my head from taking over the shot please? I have even considered hypnosis as my practice swings are fine but as soon as I play the shot I dip or lift or scoop. I’ve even tried closing my eyes which does seem to work better but it’s not ideal. Thanks.

    Hey Chris agreed, pitching should be about finesse. Like the tip about letting the club face swing around, make me ask should I use that swing feel with all my clubs obviously with speed and weight transfer

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Michael, the movement is a little different once we try to add speed so this may not work quite as well with your full swing, so if keep this to the pitching if possible

    You had your feet close and the ball in the middle. Is that the proper way to hit a pitch show, not ball forward or back and feet shoulder width apart? Or is there a distance where one should start thinking about taking a normal short iron setup/swing?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому +3

      Hey Brian, this is how I would set up for a basic pitch of around 30yds, if the shot changed then my set up would change a little too, longer shot = wider stance.
