    I guess not many people know that Efren Reyes was a 3-cushion billiard champion back in the days. And so making multi-bank shots, while pocketing the object ball are normal for him but for many who are unaware of his skills, they get stunned and are amazed by his abilities that up to now, others still can't believe it thinking he just made a lucky shot! Yup he's the GOAT...

      You don't fully control the angle after hitting so many rails, even if you are strong in 3 cushion billiards. So yes, it is to a large degree just luck. He maximized his chances, though, but it's not like he could repeat it consistently.

      He had to make contact, or he'd left earl with a ball in hand. No doubt EF is a SUPER BAD man, but let's be honest, just about any mid level pool player could've made contact with the ball. I'm not saying make it. Just contact🤷🏾‍♂️

    I practiced this shot a few times just to learn it (without success). Three weeks ago in a game of 8 ball, I was presented with the same shot on the 4 ball that was hidden behind the 9. Shot it perfectly with the same english you show here. Que ball hit the rail first (maybe a millimeter or two from the 4), then hit the 4 without touching the 9 ball. The 4 ball hit the pocket corner, ratteled and stopped, blocking the pocket. Impressed the hell out of me and those watching. Thanks!

    Looked like fun. I heard that Efren actually practiced this shot. He saw a neophyte who didn’t know you weren’t supposed to shoot those shots make it. Efren said he practiced the shot until he owned it. It’s the kind of shot that would really deflate your opponent.

      Im filipino and that's a 100% true... What a billard geniuos..
      This aactually hes prime... That time, 9 ball is not popular here in the philipines... People played here 15 balls or straight balls... Nobody wants to fight him even the best of the best.. i remember just to have an oponent , in stright ball you have to shoot 61 right? Just to fought him all you need to shoot is 27... Anyone! He dont care if your a chanpion too or your the best in your region or city.. And still nobody wants to play with him...😂

    • @anthonykeller5120
      @anthonykeller5120 Місяць тому

      @@ZenaidaAvelino Straight is what I learned to shoot first. You get one point per ball. You can shoot any ball on table calling the pocket. You shoot fourteen balls per rack leaving one ball on the table. You use the left over ball to carom the cue ball into the rack of fourteen balls. You do this over and over until you make the number of points agreed upon before the game. “Friendly” games usually go to 50 points. Tournament games go up to 150 points. Safeties are a big part of the game as is the ability to make multi-rack runs. Playing 61 is good training for straight pool (also called 14:1). Living in PH now, and I find all the players here much better than I am. The best I ever saw play straight pool was Willie Mosconi, and I would have payed to see Efren and Willie play.

    The chance of pocketing a shot like Efren did, two opposite banks first, with the added complexity of having to add some side spin due to a partially blocking ball, is ridiculously small. You have three factors that have to line up perfectly for the object ball to even go in the direction of the pocket. The direction of stroke, the side spin applied to avoid the first blocking ball, with hopeful consideration in clearing the second blocking ball and the strength of the stroke. Doing it as a one off on a hill-hill match was just absolutely insane. Big ups to Jasmin for getting the shot replicated in less than ten attempts. Many have tried and most had to do a minimum of 30 to even get the ball rolling along the rail

  • @richardngo2561

    I think its videos like these which really make me rethink the way I perceive pool. Before watching, I would have never even thought that Efren's shot was possible let alone recreatable in so few attempts. Every shot after had multiple solutions whereas my mind could only see one or two. Its incredible how many ways you can really take a simple shot to play a table to your advantage, its something I still don't have and I imagine is going to be something I'll have to learn in order to reach the higher levels.

    Yet another AMAZING video, Jasmin! Thanks for taking the time to put this together and sharing with us minions. I do like how you used the 2-rail shot off the 7 to the 9, which goes against the "conventional wisdom" of coming ACROSS the shot line. But you're such a distance from the 9 ball you're coming across the wide part of the zone, and thus speed control (such a critical issue for we amateurs) isn't as big a factor. Great stuff! 😁👍💪🤩

    Plot twist: Efren knocked the eight out on purpose. The positioning of the five and the lifting of the cue ball to six are the clues he left behind. He left the cue ball behind the six just in case he missed the eight. He hit the five hard enough to get near the diamond, but not to rest on the rail. If he would've simply tried safety with the z-shot, he would've landed on top, or on the other side of the five. so, he was potting that five on the Z. That was not a fluke. The eight was not a sure shot, but the Z was.

  • @ΓιάννηςΧατζηγεωργίου-θ9σ

    Congrats Jasmin!! I feel though that we have to consider couple of things before we start trying to replicate magician's famous shot. I saw you trying to replicate exactly the aiming point, the spin and the speed of the shot. Well, dear Jasmin, as you already know, everything (even slight things) on a pool table can make a difference on the final outcome. Let's start: Efren was playing on a Brunswick table (version 3) and you are playing on a Predator (?) table. The cushions are different and respond differently even if you execute exactly the same shot (first factor). Your cloth is different than his (yours is quite new meanwhile his was not, perhaps even you use a different kind of cloth than him, factor 2). You 2 are playing with totally different equipment (you with carbon shaft, he with wood) which means that if you apply exactly the same amount of spin and speed as he did, you will have a totally different result cause these 2 types of shafts play completely different (factor 3). I will keep going for a bit...🙂. Tables and clothes are very sensitive to temperature and humidity levels, so it's quite impossible to replicate exactly these 2 important factors. This shot is legendary cause i bet even Efren if he would try to replicate it, probably he would have potted 3/10 times on the same table, with the same cloth, on this same room. It was just a moment of magic where aaaaaaaaaaaall the factors collaborated harmonically to provide us this pool masterpiece!!! That's why it's magic!! Stay safe dear and keep pushing Albin to find his form, lol. I am a super fan of both of you!!! Your's and Albin's style reminds me the great Ralf which i love too!!!🙂

    Hello Jasmin, Efren was challenged to shoot his famous winning Z shot on a bet given just 3 tries in the Philippines 🇵🇭 And he has done it in just 2.

    Now THAT is the Jasmin we all knew was hidden and the passion now let loose for all to see. You are a lovely woman Jasmin, even more so when you let her out. The skill and precision of a Nikki Lauda with the passion of a Franz Klammer coupled with the graceful power of a Steffi Graf. Enjoy your work young lady, keep stroking, it is only a matter of time before you burst to the forefront of the sporting world. Just remember, when you do, bring the pool world with you...
