In March, I made a long overdue trek to Pensacola, FL to see Tyler. The purpose of the trip was to hang and celebrate his 30th birthday. It had been a long while since I had been in Pensacola. The last time I visited was in March of 2016.
The trip down went really well. It was the first long drive in the Ridgeline since purchasing it and the truck was comfy, smooth, and averaged around 21mpg. Not bad for an older truck that's weighted down with my motorcycle and gear.
On Saturday, when I arrived, Tyler and I took our motorcycles downtown into Pensacola for some dinner. Pensacola had a lot more going on than when I was there last. That was really nice to see.
On Sunday, Tyler and I took off for Blackwater River State Park. This is Tyler's home trail system and so I was excited to see where he rides all the time. The drive there is super easy and you pass through the cool little town of Milton, FL on the way.
We finally made our way down a dirt road where we parked and prepped the bikes. After a few minutes of gettting ready we headed off down the trails for a route Tyler had in mind. Riding in sand is unlike anything I've done, except maybe for riding a bicycle across ice. It took me nearly all day to warm up to that. With that aside, the rest of the day was incredible. The trails are so beautiful and fun to ride and explore. The trails are mostly flat but it was a pleasant change from my area where everything is a hill.
We rode for about 2.5-3 hours (50 miles) before heading back before the rain moved in. After riding we headed back towards Milton to grab some pizza.
All together I had a great time and Tyler was an awesome host. I think we will have to explore some more the next time I'm down. But....I'm looking forward to visiting again and riding again soon hopefully.

Be sure to stay on the trails marked for motorized vehicles. Those single tracks are non-motorized only. Miles and miles are excellent off-road riding in Blackwater. Nice video.
Love these videos on the xr150L. Each video I can see exactly how fun it truly is.
I’m glad you like them!!
Theres no answer to sand except horsepower and lots of throttle. If you're on a smaller bike you'll just never feel comfortable. I had a Honda xr600r that ate Sand for breakfast. And i had a dr350 that just never did sand well. The trick is to keep that back wheel spinning. When in doubt throttle out
Good to see the 150 again
Thanks! It’s going to have plenty of adventures this summer!
You did great on that sand!
Thank you! It was strange getting used to it but I felt more confidence near the end of the ride!
The XR150L seemed to keep up with the 450 rather well in the dirt!
Tyler might have been taking it easy on me but the XR did great. It’s a very capable machine.
Good times man! Tires stock? Ppl are complaining but honestly mine does good off road but it not fine sand.
No, I swapped the stock tires out for Shinko 244’s before going on a trip to Windrock last summer. It did fine in the sand, just a learning curve on my part!
Great video, do you have a link to those bar risers? Are you going to do a video on that? How did you attach your 3800 case to the rack? Would love to see a video on that. Subscribed.
I’ll definitely have videos of those soon.
To attach the case I used u-bolts that are secured inside the box so they cannot be removed by anyone if the bike is sitting. I covered the u bolts in foam to help protect my rack from scratching.
And the link to the bar risers is:

I wish honda would have made the xr600r with electric start. It has the power of the modern 450s but just more grunt
He man, does your bike have to be street legal to ride there or are they ohv trails
I'm not a resident of Florida but I believe I read that any bike that uses trails in the state forest needs to be street legal with tags, lights, and blinkers.
Where in blackwater is this? Want to go ride this.
I’m not really sure to be honest. Let me try and get Tyler to explain since that’s his home turf.
This cause it looks similar to up Munson hwy
Hello! I'm going to buy used xr150l, where can I find serial number and year on the bike on it?
The serial number and year should be on the front of the frame just behind the front fender. Turn the wheel sideways and you should be able to see the VIN more easily.
@@OffRoadRodeo thank you! Already bought it, great bike for Vietnam roads!
Also the 450 motors have never been extremely reliable. That's why I have never wanted one. have plenty of power but always needing a new top end or something. They just punch higher than they should
I'm from Brazil, please search Bros 150 2014 this xl 150 is already very outdated
I’m aware it’s outdated in Brazil but this is a “new” model for the USA as of 2023. It’s an inexpensive bike here compared to similar models from the big manufacturers, hence its draw.
Any issues with oil consumption?
Nope, I haven’t experience any.
Tyler's such a great guy 🔥
