  • Total Archery Challenge ARROW BUILD FOR LONGER SIGHT TAPES. Going into TAC 2023, my main goal was to build the best Total Archery Challenge Arrow Setup that was super light and allowed me to get the most out of my HHA Ryz which I paired with the UltraView Scope housing, so in this week video I go over my new 2023 Total Archery Challenge Arrow build and discuss what components I used, my fletching configuration, total Front of Center, and my total arrow weight. In addition, I also cover some arrow building 101 to address some of the common questions that I get asked any time I post an arrow build video.
I hope this video helps anyone looking to build out a super light arrow setup to get long range sight tapes.

Thank you! Glad you liked the video.
I have a 27” draw at 70 lbs, and all you need is the UV score adapter, and you can easily switch the scope.

So your arrows are cut at 27 or you have them cut an inch or two longer than your draw length my draw length is 28 and I use too shoot arrows cut too 27 and it picked up speed but it was a stiffer arrow but now I have arrows cut too 28 or 29

On your hunting arrow set up. You said that you switched to the lower profile vein. You are running a four fletched as well. Do you notice a parachute effect with that, and what type of broadhead are you using? Next year it would be my 40th year hunting with a bow from long bows, recurve to the new compound bows. I always tried to stay with a fixed blade. Just curious about the four fletched to the three fletched on compound bows. When I run feathers on my recurve I use four fletch. This old guy is just trying to learn new setups..

I run the Sevr 1.5s for Whitetail and they flew great all the way out to 50 but they are mechanicals. When I went on my elk hunt I also ran a 4-fletch. It did have more drag but they flew great out to 60. That was with a QAD three-blade fixed.
I have never had any issues with parachuting.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors thanks for the info. I may play around with it. I was thinking about those broadheads the 1.5's. I have that new lease, and I can shoot some distance with no interference. I don't think that I would shoot over 40 yards. With my arrow set up is over 500grs with 30" draw. I have always been in tight shooting scenarios. Plus, I am a bear hunter as well. I like a pass through. Again, thanks for your input.

You won't be disappointed with the sevr. They are the best mechanical BH I have shot to date.

My dad just got a Mathew’s phase 4 and Tim from Sunrise suggested the 6.0 sonics. But my understanding is it only come in a tolerance of .002.5 not .001 like a match grade axis. And the weight was not consistent with the half dozen he bought either. But they are light and shoot fine for our ability. Big difference in pulling them out of foam targets, 5 mm is a lot better for that with the larger outserts.

I have the match grade with the .001 tolerances and so far the weight is within the specs.
Have you tried any arrow lube when shooting 3D? It makes a world of difference when pulling arrows out of foam.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors have not used arrow lube, but I have seen people spay silicone lube on a rag and wipe their arrows b4 every shot. I thought that was a bit much tho lol.
I shoot black eagle rampages .001 not sure what size the outsert is .243 I think, and it’s a huge difference pulling arrows between the 6mm Eastons and the 5mm with outserts.
Out of 12 rampages I got 6 that are 100% straight and the weight is within 1.5 grains. (They didnt have Easton axis or rip tko in stock last August when I bought the rampages, thats my goal arrow’s.)
What broad heads do you run for whitetail?

Definitely try arrow lube. I carry a small bottle in my bino harness.
For whitetail, I run the Sevr 1.5’s.
