Yeah, I definitely feel like the reviewer just not being suited for Maggie's playstyle bled into the more negative tone or the review. But interestingly, I had the opposite experience. Maggie was a breeze for me and I struggled with the melee characters. It's so satisfying to land a trickshot with her fireball to get the jump on faraway enemies.
Depends on the situation tho, a direct hit knocks down enemy, I find it more useful to direct hit with heavy attack instead of spamming light if you are being rushed down
@@personaslates this review is honestly makes the game look much less polished than it is. For instance, maggie is one of the fastest characters if you pick your perks right.
Thanks - was trying to decide if this was worth paying the extra for to get a physical copy from LRG. Doesn't sound like it - I'll put it on my Switch wish list & wait for a really cheap sale.
I'm picking up the physical copy from limited run games, hopefully by then they have balance update and dlc. Mythforce is an good idea want it to not be an one and done game
This seems like it has the potential to be fun. Hopefully it can be balanced out better with some updates so that single players can have a bit more fun with it as well. I really like the visual style it's gone for and the gameplay does look like it's off to a decent start. While I won't pick it up just yet, I'll be taking the advice and waiting for a sale. Thanks for the review.
So just to clarify - this is purely roguelike? Meaning no permanent unlocks of any upgrades or story content? And are there new game+ modes, or do you repeat the same story campaign over and over? Also how long does one run last?
Roguelite, there are unlockables skins, emotes, voice lines, perks, etc for each character. theres no new game+, you just repeat the same chapter on higher difficulty for high rewards, each character have his own progression so yeah theres a lot of replayability if u eant to grind the same content. It takes like 25 to 30 min to complete a chapter.
Aesthetically fantastic game maybe its just cause I want like a Risk of Rain or Synthetik kinda feel where the world wants me dead there really isn't any kind of feeling of urgency or threat. Character gets more powerful but in kinda mundane-y ways and everything else stays the same and doesnt scale with the player. I really want to love it and think I would if more time is just generally put into it
Sounds like procedural generation done wrong. They should've taken pointers from Dead Cells, which has procgen levels but each biome can spawn unique layouts, so progress always feels fresh.
4:03 "As much as I enjoy roguelikes, it feels like a format that was chosen for its convenient ability to pad out playtime." THIS. EXACTLY THIS. They did so much right with the basis, but skimped on creating any actual content. Any other format would've done wonders for this game's reception. Roguelikes create replayability through fun and unique ability and perk interactions. This game doesn't have any of that.
The aesthetic of this game is something I've wanted my entire life. Shame they used it for a bog standard roguelite with these kind of issues. What a waste..
I was hyped by the reveal but the demo was awful, I'm visually impaired and having the screen go blurry after only 2 shots of my bow made it a nightmare to play. I was hoping the full game would've had a lot more polish, but this doesn't seem like it. Hopefully they do work on it cause I actually own it, I forget the bundle, but I got it as part of a humble bundle when it was still a preorder, I this has saved me the time of installing it cause it clearly hasn't been worked on enough since the demo phase.
man, i love the theme, but for that i'd rather just keep going into dragon age inquistion online multiplayer. it does alot well, but im not big on fp pov rpg & it seems a bit shorter than i'd like
I got this for the nintendo switch its ok so so can be fun but my god it felt repetitive design in 30mins of playing and there is some jank with like mesh and getting stuck around certain parts of the map at times.. The movement feels a little jank. I hope they update it soon to patch some things out. There is no telling of where enemies are either like footstep sounds for enemies behind you there is nothing there. i would pick it up on sale honestly
This looks cool, but I’m afraid it might be another frustrating roguelike experience. All the bad Roguelike games melee is underpowered and range is overpowerd.. every single time.
this game is just absolutely lame and pathetic i would not spend 29.99 just to play this game on my switch oled or my steam deck if this game goes on deep sale i may consider buyin this game until then im gonna pass on this game
The rouge like crap has been the cheapest and laziest game development next to free to play. This seems like it wouldve been a decent game if it were developed as an adventure/action game instead of this die over and over crap
Don't try to hit enemies with Maggie's fireball - aim it at the ground at their feet instead. It's an AoE attack, not a precision targeted one.

They say it's based on '80s cartoons but at no point did anyone turn into a car. Curious.
Turbo Teen?
also, no cute animal mascot, or annoying kid sister. . .
You didn't play enough.
Games like this make me really wish i had friends to play them with.
You game on PC or console?
It’s online so you can find friends you play on PlayStation?
I play all the things on PC. I'm pretty tempted to pick this game up but i might wait a bit for them to put some more dev time into it.
@@personaslates this review is honestly makes the game look much less polished than it is. For instance, maggie is one of the fastest characters if you pick your perks right.
I can 100% relate.
Precision aiming is for the ranger/archer. The fireball spell isn’t a precision deal. Just throw it on the ground in front of the enemy.
Thanks for watching!
Now we need a MythForce cartoon
sounds like they didn't focus on single player balance.
too bad, disqualifying for me, i never play MP when i don't absolutely have to
Thanks - was trying to decide if this was worth paying the extra for to get a physical copy from LRG. Doesn't sound like it - I'll put it on my Switch wish list & wait for a really cheap sale.
That is exactly what I just did
It’s 30 dollars lol
I'm picking up the physical copy from limited run games, hopefully by then they have balance update and dlc. Mythforce is an good idea want it to not be an one and done game
The devs demoed the game on Xplay last year. Looked rough then and honestly doesn't look like much has changed since.
This seems like it has the potential to be fun. Hopefully it can be balanced out better with some updates so that single players can have a bit more fun with it as well. Love the cartoon art. Gonna have to find a group to do some runs with if I pick this up in the future
That was a solid informative concise review.
Might cop it on sale
I will definitly buy this game on sale but not eager to spend $40 cad on it.
This would've been killer on GamePass
Hee Man, Thundercats... Thundarr the Barbarian, Dungeons & Dragons... just wanted to add those. Damn I miss Saturday Mornings.

Thanks for checking out the video and commenting!

it also sounds like you don't really know what you are talking about 🙂

Any updates since launch?

Dang, the game LOOKS awesome, but I'm hearing a lot of people say it's not great. If it were even kind of good I would have been all over it
GOOD REAL REVIEW THANKS
The rogue looks like sean connery in Zardoz lol
man, i love the theme, but for that i'd rather just keep going into dragon age inquistion online multiplayer. it does alot well, but im not big on fp pov rpg & it seems a bit shorter than i'd like
Was looking forward to this, but thanks for the head’s up on its downfall(s). Definitely waiting for a sale now ☝️ CHEERS 🍻
Wtf the shop NPCs MOVE?! Been playing on Switch and I'd never seen them move.
Seems similar to Gunfire Heroes.

Oblivion combat simulator
This looks cool, but I’m afraid it might be another frustrating roguelike experience. All the bad Roguelike games melee is underpowered and range is overpowerd.. every single time.
What about Hades?
this game is just absolutely lame and pathetic i would not spend 29.99 just to play this game on my switch oled or my steam deck if this game goes on deep sale i may consider buyin this game until then im gonna pass on this game
4:41 that combat looks boring af.
Thanks for watching!
This is an 80’s cartoon imposter. None of those characters match the aesthetic or tropes. Kinda sad.
The graohic looks so great but the gameplay looks so lame. Well its beamdog and aspyre two of the worst companies.
ouf film grain is a dead on arrival for me, thanks for the heads up
The four playable heroes look like bland current year garbage not 80s cartoon characters.
The rouge like crap has been the cheapest and laziest game development next to free to play. This seems like it wouldve been a decent game if it were developed as an adventure/action game instead of this die over and over crap
Then stop dying. Sorry you suck at the genre, but a lot of people enjoy it.

Free on Prime now until September. Not much of a fan of rougelikes / rouglites but I will get it for free on Prime trial.
