    Thank you for the video. My Scion IQ thanks you. Glass installers said they could not source the left quarter glass. I got one thru Ebay then no one would install it for me. Came out looking like nothing happened, all for $60 including glue and primer.

    That was awesome. Really appreciate your advice on how to cut the adhesive tip. That urethane can get quite messy. And thanks for the 3m primer tip. You are one of the few videos that recommend that and it is totally worth spending another $20 for a can.

      To be completely honest you can do a round bead jist cater in tje thickness of your moulding how high tje bead will sit, if it's high enough keep it at that you won't get leaks with round beads v beads you can knock the top off and it can also leak so don't be to particular with this round or v is fine

    Little advice, do not leave the seams open like he did. You will get a leak down the road. Pad them together. Better to run the end of your seem to the inside instead of the outside like he did. Will prevent leakage

    Little advice. Dont prime the urethane. The primer is for scratches on the body and areas where the urethane no longer is bonded to the body. Urethane sticks best to itself

    • @JP-ub3iv
      @JP-ub3iv 5 років тому

      so the primer is only good for the scratches and not between the urethane? I'm a newb to glass installation but i thought the "primer" for adhesives usually helps the bond.

    • @giovanniburns4905
      @giovanniburns4905 5 років тому

      @@JP-ub3iv no it's good for in between the urethane you just want to leave as much of the urethane exposed as possible to get the best adhesion possible. What I've always been told is urethane sticks best to urethane

      @benjaminengelberg6847 4 роки тому

      Giovanni Burns some instructions I’ve read say to put urethane on the inside window AND the frame of the car. Do I need to do both or just on the car? Thanks!

    • @glennfell2462
      @glennfell2462 3 роки тому

      There are several issues with his process. 1.) Read the urethane system instructions. Urethane usually adheres best to fresh untrimmed urethane unless it requires activation. 2.) join the seams together on the bead. Pay attention to the working time of the urethane, applying it before prepping the glass could create a problem if the glass is not installed in time. 3). Very few professionals use 3m urethane for various reasons so avoid it if possible. 4). There are a few things that you should truly leave to professionals. Bonded glass installation is one of them.

      Did you ever find out how???

    • @ahmedsaidu-kamara6760
      @ahmedsaidu-kamara6760 5 років тому +1

      @@Soccertz1 yes, there are basically two types of processes for removing the quarter glass, cut out if it was glued on or screw out if bolts were used to attach it. I have a 2007 Audi A4 and mine was glued in so I cut it out, removed as much of that old rubber as possible. Then I cleaned the surface using rubbing alcohol. I gave it a minute or so to dry then applied Flex Glue in a thick continuous bead then I pressed in the new quarter glass with continuous pressure for about a minute, use some white painter's tape to hold it in place for about two days so good weather is a must if you want to do this right. I hope this helps you. I did it myself because glass repair companies were charging almost the same price for repairing quarter glass as they were for the windshield and I couldn't get behind that. Good luck, you can do it.

My window was broken and it mostly fell out, but edges/urethane and the molding piece remain. I don't feel like buying a new one. The "primer" in this primer is not what you think and speak of in the video. It is a chemical primer, to prime or prep the bond of the 2nd stage, which is the bonding glue. It chemically reacts with the glue to form a stronger bond. Nothing at all to do with primer in the paint sense.
