I totally get that! I would limit watching too much content until after you get out of the surgery. You’re going to psych yourself out! I promise you it will be okay ❤️. Also, it’s normal to feel scared, this is a life changing procedure and you’ll be happy you went through with it.
I absolutely understand my surgery is tomorrow. I’ve prayed and I know that God has me covered. I guess it’s just my nerves and my fleshly ways kicking in. Best wishes to you on your surgery.
Another thing I’ll recommend is blue light therapy mask. I’m 10ths post op DJS and currently just have mild numbness in my upper palate and chin. I’m almost confident my whole mouth would go back to normal. Another tip. Once you get the green light for hard food you have to force yourself. Start with mild to hard vegetables and move to nuts and so on simply because your muscles are in atrophy and would take longer to wake up if not exercised. Meet you all on the other side 💪🏾
I wanna try the blue light therapy 4 months post op Oct 6th,and my chin and bottom lip are still numb it feels like I have a plate in my lip, will this therapy help
@@kaydee506 yeah I believe it would. I started using it 3 weeks post op and remember physically feeling my bigger nerves waking up. As of today I have over 90% of my feeling back. Good luck
I just have to tell you that I saw this video a good 2 or 3 weeks before my surgery. I purchases as much as I could immediately after. This was extremely informative and honestly a godsend for what was to come. My first day just after surgery was horrible, I was vomiting blood which is apparently fairly common. Days 2 and 3 were really tough too, congestion being the main culprit. After that, I kept incorporating all of the items you mentioned plus a hot face compress that was super effective for swelling (my mom has serious back problems and was told by doctors to alternate cold and hot for best results). I also ate over a bin that I emptied out after eating and it saved a lot of time. Plenty of tissues when needed as well. My recovery has been extremely swift, I was able to get swelling down to be only minimally congested and able to eat soft foods on day 6. Its the next day and my sleeping and swelling are still doing great. Thank you so so much for your advice
@jacksonhoward419 >f it happens there's nothing you can do beaides ride it out. I freaked out because I had no idea it was a possibility. Stay calm, it will pass quicker than you think
Yes! These are all super helpful. I am on day 7 of recovery now and these are all essentials! I agree that there hasn’t been any pain either (per-say), more like pressure and tight facial muscles.
@@delroy232007 unfortunately there’s not much that can be done as a quick fix, but hot showers/ steaming your face over a pot of hot water helps. Also, lots of gentle massage and keeping up with the exercises your doctor recommends
@@delroy232007 I’m honestly really bad with keeping up with them too. I’m at 11 weeks now, so everything is much easier and I can eat normally but I still can’t open as wide as before.
I just had it, doc said all my nerves were in tact and he was right, I feel little thing screaming at me inside and out, even with dual nerve pain meds sleeping is hell
Does anyone know what red robin is called in the UK? 😩 Thank you for sharing your journey! It’s been so helpful with helping me prep for my double jaw surgery in a couple of weeks ❤
I've had 3 major jaw surgeries. One was a total jaw joint and mandible replacement. My mouth was wired shut for 3 1/2 months. I then found out that the disc's in my jaw we're gone and it was bone on bone. I had a double jaw joint surgery to replace the cartilage, a double derma graft. It's been 10 years and the cartilage is gone again. The surgeon said more surgery would be too much for me. I am 66 year's old and I live in constant severe pain.
What happened to the hair below your hairline?? My father is going to have surgery I two weeks for cancer and he'll remove a couple of teeth etc. So thank you extremely much for explaining all these things so well. I'm not a beauty interested guy, but I think this was very general - which is great. You da best, best wishes from Sweden!
My surgery is in June I'm so scared, I think I've watched every video on yt about jaw surgery and the closer it gets, I just wanna get it over with

I had surgery yesterday. Literally don’t remember anything except receiving the Anesthesia. I’m doing okay. Liquid diet sucks but is temporary.
Liquid diet is so annoying but you’ll get through it. Congrats on having the surgery🤍 wishing you a speedy and healthily recovery
I had top jaw surgery 4 days ago. My lips are dark and swollen. When will it come back to normal.
@@nadiyaparvin6245 I had surgery 5 days ago. My lips are also very dark. When did that ago away for you?
Wow so it is true, once you close your eyes you immediately open them up again and it's done!!!
Have all of you experienced this same thing???

How did you deal with the vomiting? I'm getting surgery in April or May and I am concerned about how I'll get the puke out.
@jacksonhoward419 you'll be able to puke fine, it's just very unpleasant. Best of luck with your surgery ❤️
@@noahkreuser6504 Thanks man! Do you think there was anything different you would've done to limit nausea/vomiting or was it just bound to occur?
