Loved your video! My Nana thought me the one touch rule many years ago! I taught my husband and my kids as well; because of this small habit our house is never messy. When we need to clean we don’t have to spend extra time picking things up and putting them away first. The only thing I can’t do is the 🛒 big grocery list one day shopping, for me it just takes too long. I do go to the grocery store almost every day but never over buy, if I’m there for 2 or 3 items that’s all I get. But as you say do what works for you! Helpful video thank you!
A habit that has helped me the most is to put it away, not down. Just as easy to put the dish in the dishwasher as it is to put it in the sink. Just as easy to put the foil back as it is to place it on the counter. Just a small habit change to put away, not down has made a huge difference in my home. My husband has also got on board with this one and it just makes keeping our home tidy, so much easier. The stick vacuum is a game changer, I will never be without one as long as I have a choice! 🙂
Yes!! Love this tip! That is actually part of speed cleaning and the "one touch rule." To do something in one touch, rather than 2, 3, 4 or more! And you are so right about the vacuum. I never knew what I was missing, ha! Thank you so much for watching and commenting ☺

One of the best laundry tips I've ever heard: buy only white towels and sheets. It may seem boring, but it cuts time on laundry. Also, deep clean one room every day. Top to bottom. Eventually you will always have a clean home.
Thanks! When I walk in my house - I put things in proper place right then. Groceries, new shirt, purse - what ever it is - I put it away. I like handling things one time!
The cordless vacuum is one of the best purchases we have ever made. I always had problems with the weight of the canister vacuum. Now it’s a breeze to use especially on the stairs and to go from the top level to the bottom level. So much easier to use every day. Vinegar is amazing cleaner for a lot of things and easy to use. I always make our bed every day. I always keep the bedroom tidy every day as this starts the day.
I rewatch your videos they are so good. In one of them, not this one, I saw how you fold jeans and now I’m doing it that way. You have great, new ideas!
My favorite routines: doing dishes every night - doing laundry two days a week - shopping on Thursday or Friday (in order to catch the best produce & meats before the weekends) - putting things away as we finish them & paying bills on Sundays. With only two retirees in our home, it helps out a lot.
Oh no! In one of my other videos I talk about a power clean where everyone in the house helps out and cleans for a set amount of time. Maybe that could help?
Great tips!! Thank you - maybe I’ll put a chair in my bedroom - because our laundry is piling in the living room and I’d much rather have it pile up on the bedroom , also I will need to add a laundry hamper / we used to have one and it got old but I def want to invest in a new one - thanks
I have just watched this and at last a sensible regime. This I can follow, its makes sense. There are other good ones online but they are routines that are a chore in themselves. Filling out routine sheets etc. Trying to o remember what I must do today! This hopefully is what I needed. So thank you
For me a cleaning tip would be to have a “donation bin” in the closet so every time I see something that doesn’t fit any more I can put it there right away instead of having it occupying valuable real estate in my closet. ❤ More like an organizational tip
Yes. I have a donation bin and toss it bin when I go through things. And I'd also add- donate your clothing to a domestic violence shelter rather than a thrift shop.
I love how you do the bedroom walls. I never thought of that ! Thank you ! I take a paper towel or cloth with a spray bottle of water and white vinegar ( 50/50 ratio) and wipe down tv screens, mirrors, etc. Also, I have a spray bottle with bleach, water, and Mr Clean. I use a wet dish cloth and so door knobs
But spray the Rag and NOT the electronic! Also, try to use a tag when you can, much cheaper and more eco-friendly! And watered down vinegar with a squirter of dish soap works just as great! Using bleach can splash on other things and bleach them, and it's also healthier for us, unless disinfectant is needed. Covid has shown to not stay on surfaces, but overdisenfecting weakens or immune systems, so it's harder to fight off bugs.
Great tips. I really like the 10-minute tidy and also doing the laundry and running the dishwasher on a schedule is fantastic. However, I hate washing dishes before bed. Nights for me are all about eating and relaxing. Though, I'm all for clearing and sanitizing the countertops after preparing a meal.
@@tarynmaria_ I am a terrible house cleaner. I have clutter and I can't decide which room to start with first. Then when I do start in one room I will take something to another room then start in there. Never ending. UGH 😭
@@shearview5134 I hear you! I like to just start with one thing and see how it goes - one corner, or one drawer even! I also like to start with a garbage bag and just be ruthless in what I'm putting in there. Thank you so much for watching!
Running the dishwasher when it is not full is a waste of electricity, detergent and water. While I get your concept most people are trying to keep costs under control. My advice is to run the dishwasher at night with the heated dry cycle turned off because the air is free to dry your dishes.
I think if someone needs to get dishes done, running the dishwasher as they need it isn’t a waste (within reason). I’d rather people get their chores done so their dishes don’t pile up and get yucky than wait 3 days to run the dishwasher. Waiting until the night and no heat dry is definitely smart tho (as long as people are responsible and put them away the next day).
Instead of one day dealing with paper, I deal with it as soon as I get it. Junk mail gets immediately put on the trash. Bills are mostly on auto pay so the invoices get filed away in the file cabinet as soon as we get it.
Taryn, just saw a video that you mentioned method glass cleaner, that you were using on tour wood tables, instead of furniture polish. Geez, do I hate it when I can’t find it again🤷♀️Guess I better start doing a screen shot, so I know where I can find those certain videos! By any chance does anyone remember where this is.😬
Oh no - I just looked around and I can't seem to remember this video! I do use Method surface cleaner on my wood and then maybe twice a year I use wood polish :) I'll keep looking and let you know if I can find the video!

Great tips! But mixing the baking soda with vinegar isn't a great idea. Both are good cleaners, but when you mix them, the reaction that forms the bubbles actually shows that they neutralize each other. Next time try either vinegar or baking soda. ;)
Great ideas here and well presented. One thing though is that baking soda and vinegar simply neutralize each other. No actual cleaning with both together.
Thank you so much Joyce! And you are right about the mixing of the baking soda and vinegar - the benefit of using them in the drain is that the bubbles help dislodge gunk from inside the drain (where you can't reach). Thank you for watching! ☺
Spraying hydrogen peroxide will kill mold. Then after the foaming has done its thing with that, after several sprays and rinses, I clean it with powder Comet. I clean underneath those disposal flaps as well/the backside.
You’re close, the combo only works while it’s actively bubbling; but that doesn’t last long. It’s all right if you’re scrubbing something for 10 seconds.
I deal with my mail daily, no letting it pile up. Since all my bills and financial statements arrive electronically most mailbox items are junk or magazines, so easy to toss most of it in recycle and save the magazines to enjoy later.
I have the Dyson stick vacuum (amzn.to/3BQObUW). This one is a little pricey but it works well. I have heard the Bissel stick vacuums are also really good. Thank you so much for commenting :)
Paper clutter is definitely the worst! You can organize other things pretty easily, but paper is so flat it’ll only pile up…or you gotta keep in in folders and stuff; what a headache. It also can mold and tear…doesn’t last long. Yuck.
Honestly I don't know how you manage to run the dishwasher every other day with 5 people. We are just 3 people at home and I run the washer everyday. I do put the pans and everything in.
I'd just kill myself if I *had* to stick to a schedule to do chores. Just put things away after you use them, keep the dishes clean (by hand or by machine) and do the rest as you want to or need to. Over scheduling/routines can be nice, but you can also get to where you *can't* do something because it's 'laundry day'. I spend very little time putting things away because I PUT them away after use. I clean as I need to clean. Not everything needs a weekly cleaning. Laundry? If you have a washer and dryer at home, you can toss in a load while you cook dinner (or whatever). You don't need specific days to do wash. But if this works for you, go for it. I raised two kids, had a full time job and had clean and tidy house with no routines in place.
Thank you for watching :) What are your weekly cleaning tips?
