Mole grips on a brand new damper shaft? Come on, that's not the right way to do it. Yeah on the old damper but not on the new one.

indeed, grim. There is an allen key or torx in the top to hold the shaft

I have a honda civic 8th 1l4 ivtec and I have this problem of metallic noise on the D side when I pass a bump.
    It's 13 years old and 150,000km.
It seems to be a common problem on this model!
    Should I change the spring?
At what mileage has this happened to your car?
    Thank's for your video !

The top mounts ARE directional, you seem to have forgotten to do that. That will clunk every time you go full lock…

You have forget the little ruber on old absorber to put in new ;)
And warning with top mount , you have a fix position to install :)

You don't need to disassemble the entire front to get to the top nuts, you can pull the covers with a screw driver lol.
You just need to pry them from the bottom.
I mean that cover at 2:49.

Awesome video, thanks. Can you please advise us , what torque you used for securing bolts? Also , what minimum torque is needed for impact wrench?

Hi, I have a question for you.
I recently picked one of these cars up. The car is making a lot of noise when turning the steering wheel. Took it to my local mechanic and he said to stop the noise I will need to replace the top mount. I have took the car today to have all the wheels balanced and when I drive along it feels like the wheel is still shuddering would it be to do with the passenger top mount needing replacing or the entire shock needs replacing?
I would be really appreciate some advice has I am spending money on things I shouldn’t be.

Hi. To replace the top mount you need to remove the spring and shock also. There may not be anything wrong with your shock at this time but if they are original and knowing they are a common issues after say 10 years I n would replace also. As it will not take any longer to change when replacing the top mount. If they are OK and you ate looking to sell the car soon I would leave them. But only you know the car. Hope this helps 🙏

@@rstv84 Hi, thanks for your quick reponse to my comment.
The problem is I don’t know if the shuddering is to do with it. What is a common sign of your shocks going bad?

    • @rstv84
      @rstv84  2 роки тому

@@SEC0NDTW0N0NE signs of shocks going is bouncy suspension over bumps. Top mounts sign is grating noise when turning car on full lock. Other sign of worn shock is weeping fluid .you will see if you look at it it will look wet.

Yep, that's a standard issue with them, done both of mine, go after market suspension it's the same price but the ride is so much better and none of the issues that comes with the standard set up

@@rstv84 Here in the US they don’t sell them separate. I have a coupe and a lot of retailers only had them for sedan.
