thank you brother! I just spent 6hour trying to fix my girlfriends 95 integra. taking the tensioner off completely and wrenching the camshafts did not come to mind! 2022 and still blessing people!
Nice job bro!!!! Thank you for good comment and happy new year!!!
Thank you for this video bro! Need to change out my timing belt on my '94 teg. All the other videos are helpful but they overcomplicate things. This is the video I NEEDED
Major K cool let me know how it goes and do check ur timing once ur dun turn the engine manually 4 times it should turn back to same spot over and over and makings should match and please subscribe also subscribe to my other channel here’s a link ua-cam.com/channels/vqsPzqAZfVv_gjBYUFqNdg.html
thanks for the info! btw on non vtec b18 there's holes in the cams right behind the cam gears where you can insert a 5mm punch (or a bunch of Allen wrenches in my case, haha) to keep the cams in tdc, but your wrench technique was great!
this video is great. got his idea using two wrenches to keep the cams from moving the timing marks; one extra idea to keep the belt from slipping off both cams is using two wooden cloth hanging clips on the belt and the two cams gears. this way when you are trying to slip into the water pump, tensioner, and the main shaft gears, the belt will stay in place. i did that and works great.
Amazing videos, first time changing head gasket and I snapped the belt trying to get it back on I thought I was doomed until I found your vids! Thank you so much!!! ❤
Head gasket ? This is timing video
@@RBTheMechanicyes but i snapped my timing belt in the process
@@aracela1234 in process? How
Great stuff man, thank you for making this
GutterRash Automotive no problem please subscribe also subscribe to my other channel the name is rc usa 201
Great video, Thanks again for making these videos.
Cay Rome thank you
appreciate this vid alot - excellent info man. gave me the confidence to finish my integra. thought the belt was too loose. first time things :D
Yeah the belt suppose to be just enough so it can jump a tooth slight looseness other wise it will make wining noise if u make it tight need a bit slack
Great video! I have to do this soon. I may buy saw the cam locking tool for B series motors from All Spec. Overall very detailed and great explanation.
this is a very good video to follow; it would help to drain the anti-freeze in the head by removing a drain plug right front below the distributor.
Robert Chow car is old it’s rusted and prolly get damaged
I got to say bro of all the videos I saw yours is the perfect one, u didn't rush ,you were very detailed and explained everything and everything step by ,thanks a million.
Thanks man. Hopefully u got a new light now.
Sure will
Awesome buddy good job. I needed this🙏🏻
by the way, you said removing the oil pump should be the water pump. thanks for this video; will me to remove the same problem water leak. thanks again.
You're a badass your videos helped to much thank you so much
Glad to help!!! Got lot more videos comming
Hey, a couple people say my belt is too loose and it's just how yours is, did you have an issues with it being too loose?
@@theethuntv no it been running great this is how always do the belts I never push the tensnor my self I just take out all the slack and let the spring do the job. Once I tightened to belt lil harder than this and it made humming noise
You're seriously a badass, thank you so much. You're very knowledgeable and thank you so much for spreading the knowledge
dumping coolant onto your CFK sensor is a good way to foul it up.
As long as u clean it up!! Cuz it dose leak coolant when pump goes bad and oil from crank seal
Hi...video is very helpful..except for the proper places for the water pump bolts..there are 2 longer ones than the others..can you help ?
Keep them in order
I need to get my timing belt done and I am going to have a mechanic come to my house and do it. What was the brand of water pump you said to stay away from? I actually need a valve cover gasket but that looks like its actually part of the service. This was a great video
Yeah do the valve cover since ur taking it apart. The gates water pump leaks quick try asin that’s what I use lot also do the crank seal
Have everything lined up car will not start.have spark fuel just changed water pump and belt was running before not now. 99 ls1.8. What might be wrong
Do I need to hold the engine up with a jack when the mount is off?
Yes for the mount part yes floor jack i used
Hello I'm at the part where I have to get everything at top dead center I've done that but I can't get the crank bolt off now to put the pulley back on what should I do?
G Money you have to hold it and give it tap with the impact gun it might be locked very slightly where it can’t come off by hand then u can turn the crank back if it move just a bit it shouldn’t be hard
Can you tell me which one of the pulley wheels has the timing marks and the location of the pointer use to adjust the timing when you replace the distributor. thanks
What? What car u got? Usully distributed goes in to only one spot or u need too dead center cylinder 1 and then rotor has to point at number one
@@RBTheMechanic I have a 1994 Integra LS, just replaced a distributor. There should be timing marks on the pulley wheel and a timing pointer on the timing belt cover to use to adjust the timing with light gun. There are videos to show you how this is done. BUT it's hard for me to see where these marks are.
Can you do it manually without taking the timing belt cover off ?
@@sinnieleeonUtube ur setting up distributes u should have to take out timing
@@RBTheMechanic You'd never done it with the timing gun.
@@sinnieleeonUtube no
Hey I was wondering what do I search if I wanna get a kit for valve cover gasket and water pump and everything else that comes with the kit cuz on Amazon it’s says fits 1997-2001 but mine is 1994 b18b I need help what kit to get that fits mine so I could order it please help
And it’s a 5 speed
Yeah sorry I’m not expert on that but u can search up on amazon to see if it fits on ur car other wise go to pepboys or autozone they can tell u better or even order for u
@@RBTheMechanic thanks
Beautiful
So I shouldn’t use sealer on the water pump?
Nope the seal is good enough
How much miles did this integra have?
Marky Azurin it got over 140k
10:25 my pulley you took off is very tight. Used breaker bar and impact and it moves but very difficult. Thinking its stripped...
The tensioner pully how’s the threads on the bolt looking like
@@RBTheMechanic have no idea, I can’t remove the bolt
@@RBTheMechanic got the new pump in, new timing belt but tensioner is too loose I think, lots of raddling when I started the engine. The pump came with a new pulley but I just can’t remove it for some reason...
@@awautoworks4426 the pully on pump cannot be removed re check ur work too much tension on tensnor will cause nose but it cant be loose either
@@RBTheMechanic it came w a new one though. Also you removed yours at the time stamp above
Man I hate to be that guy and you got the job done but I can tell you do not have the Honda service manual. You did everything backwards and wrong. I mean there are so many things you did wrong it's not even funny. First of all you're not supposed to put all that stuff back on top before you put the belt on .You're supposed to put the tensioner on before you put the belt on that way you don't strip out the threads trying to get it on. Then the cams... you don't need those stupid wrenches. There's actually holes in the cams and you're supposed to put Allen wrenches or pins in there and it holds the cams perfectly on the spot. I mean it's right there in the Honda manual LOL. Then you put the belt on completely wrong .it supposed to be in a certain sequence and you did it completely wrong.. it's supposed to go around the crankshaft ,around the tensioner, around the water pump, around the rear side cam gear and around the front side cam gear.If you have the allen tools inserted into the cams it's a really easy . Then you're supposed to put all that stuff on top on. I mean you got it done but you almost ripped out the threads on the timing tensioner and you put everything on backwards.Oh man I hope this stuff doesn't pop off later and leave you stranded on the side of the road.
Thanks for the information but I don’t see a problem the way I did it and if it was wrong the envy would had been damaged and it’s been year car still runnning
@@RBTheMechanic You are supposed to rotate the engine clockwise three teeth on the sprocket to take up the belt slack then tighten the tensioner.
Thanks brother, you think this can be done by a beginner?
Yes but I would get some help by person or guidance to at least check ur work before starting up
@@RBTheMechanic good idea brother
@@RBTheMechanic sorry, forgot to ask. But been looking for a cheap car to learn how to work on. What suggestions do you have?
@@Int3nseGrind somthing like this one u cna get for like $800 and do all kinds or stuff or civic
@@RBTheMechanic Much appreciated. Mucho gracias. Feliz Navidad.
Nice video, but a lot of people turn the timing belt 3 teeth counter-clockwise by turning the crank, this puts the right amount of tension on the spring loaded tensioner, which you then tighten. I was getting a noisy distributor when I didn't pull the belt 3-teeth tight, and it went away after I did it over again ( ua-cam.com/video/EJEn63JbS9Q/v-deo.html )
Tried setting my timing for 3 hours botje cams just slip back to an off time after I set them aswell as the crank timing
Use wrenches to lock them up
@@RBTheMechanic I don’t think I can
@@RBTheMechanic can you dm me so I can have a chat I think my engine scrwed
@@breadmaker3939 sorry I don’t direct contact Re due the timing double check the marks turn the engine manually to confirm
@@RBTheMechanic I think my rods are bent or something catastrophic, we can’t hold the engine in time it just sets it self back
Recently did the timing belt and water pump on my 1997 Honda CRV rotated at 6 X or tensioner loose 6 time put it at top dead center pushed up on tensioner and tightened it so you say that belt cannot jump it still looks a little loose any advice would be appreciated thank you
Derek Wilson I don’t think it will jump u took all the good steps did u match up the belt
@@RBTheMechanic you mean lined up all the marks
Yes rotated crank six times everything lined up great then I pushed up as hard as I could on tensioner and torque the bolt
Derek Wilson u can’t take the heck out of that belt make it super tight it will make wining noise usually I let the spring do the job just fair enough
@@RBTheMechanic no whining noises and it runs really smooth
Would I be able to do this without an impact? 🤔
Yes but might be complicated
Very easy to do without an impact. I've done probably 50 of these in the last 10 years and I've never used an impact
