I loved Reeve Carney so much for the naivety in his voice singing the Epics. But there is so much depth in how Jordan sings this. Going between such a tender falsetto that portrays so much hurt as if his Orpheus lived it (like we are hearing him draw parallels from his relationship with Eurydice to Hades and Persephone's relationship) to transition into the belt with such raw, powerful emotion behind it. Watching his face have those realisations in real time, like we can see him reacting to the Muses telling him a story only he can see.
I couldn't have jumped on getting tickets to the Australian tour any faster because I can't wait to see it done by Aussies and hear it in my own accent.

Yeah! Reeve will always be my favorite, and I love how powerful is falsetto is. But damn, I do enjoy how Jordan does this song. When he was first cast I was like "this dude is WAY too cool to portray Opheus well" but wow he proved me wrong.

There’s something special about hearing it in a familiar accent, I saw it when it opened in London and was simply blown away!

I saw Reeve Carney in Hadestown NYC a couple of years ago, then saw a new cast in Toronto and I held them to the standard I saw when I watched the NYC cast but in general I think I just love the way different actors bring their own thing to the roles!

Jordan's way of emoting as he sings, completely devoid of self-consciousness or irony, definitely feels like Orpheus. Like, that's a Muse's son right there.

Fr - I had seen a **cough** "slime tutorial" with the original cast, listened to the cast recording a just-abouy-countable finite number of times, and saw two different actors play Orpheus in December '23 - the then main guy, sadly didn't remember his name, and an understudy.
But after I had heard Jordan in the role here on UA-cam, I just knew I *needed* to see him in it... I've seen him twice now.
Songs which, I'm sorry to say, left me relatively unmoved ("relative" for Hadestown ;P) as sung by the previous Orpheus actors - Epic III being among them - just completely grabbed me in Jordan's renditions.
Several made me cry which didn't before.
This man's ability to convey emotion in song is incredible

“It’s really quite trivili to sing like that” I add, mistyping “trivial” due to one of the cheeto fragments wedging itself under the keyboard keys. It’s already my third keyboard this month and I can’t afford another one. Just god laid off (again).

I saw it live recently and the syncopation was similar in the live production. I think it's more a stylistic choice than a mistake. It's jarring when you know the studio album really well, but I think it helps give the performance more character! It's not as rigid, and it's a nice nod to the folk inspiration/origins of Hadestown, which frequently has a syncopated style like this.

Saw Hadestown during thanksgiving week. I had heard so many great things about Jordan (and the rest of the cast too), my expectations were so high that I kinda expected the reality to be a little bit underwhelming. I could not have been more wrong. This is my favorite musical ever - I’ve watched countless bootlegs and listened to the OBC endlessly. Seeing this cast last month was every bit the experience I was looking forward to - and more. I wish I could’ve seen multiple performances but alas I live in LA. I’m just so thankful I got to see this brilliant cast

I may be biased because I’ve loved Jordan ever since I saw him on Liv and Maddie and have watched and looked up to him since then, but I think that he has embodied this role better than anybody ever and I feel absolutely crushed that I won’t be able to see him perform live as it and that i and everyone else who loves him, won’t get to hear his voice in the rest of the songs from this show. I mean if I js cried hearing this, I imagine I’d be bawling if I got to sit in that theater and see him there onstage being the most amazing, talented person, and role model for me and I bet thousands of others. I’m so proud of how far he’s come and of good of a career he’s had so far, and I can’t wait to watch him continue to go on to even more bright and brilliant things!

    King of shadows
    King of shades
Hades was king of the Underworld
    Oh, it's about me?
    Go on
But he fell in love with a beautiful lady
    Who walked up above
    In her mother's green field
He fell in love with Persephone
Who was gathering flowers in the light of the Sun
And I know how it was because
    He was like me
A man in love with a woman
Singing la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
    Where'd you get that melody?
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
    Let him finish, Hades
La, la, la, la, la, la
    And you didn't know how
    And you didn't know why
But you knew that you wanted to take her home
You saw her alone there, against the sky
It was like she was someone you'd always known
It was like you were holding the world when you held her
Like yours were the arms that the whole world was in
And there were no words for the way that you felt
So you opened your mouth and you started to sing
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la

La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
And what has become of the heart of that man
Now that the man is king?
What has become of the heart of that man
    Now that he has everything?
The more he has, the more he holds
The greater the weight of the world on his shoulders
See how he labors beneath that load
Afraid to look up, and afraid to let go
So he keeps his head low, he keeps his back bending
He's grown so afraid that he'll lose what he owns
But what he doesn't know is that what he's defending
    Is already gone
Where is the treasure inside of your chest?
Where is your pleasure? Where is your youth?
Where is the man with his arms outstretched?
    To the woman he loves
    With nothing to lose
Singing la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la

I strictly associate the character with the purity of heart Reeve gave him, like he was constantly inspired by a wiser power and straight out sang what he felt without really thinking. But I've always been interested in seeing an Orpheus that by Epic lll seems more aware of the effect his song is having and Jordan captured that amazingly. Both renditions are needed imo

I was honestly left pretty unimpressed by his Anthony, which he just didn’t have the classical chops for, but his voice sounds SO much more at home singing this type of material. This is a compelling performance.
