Folks whether it was meant to be or not, this is a tutorial on the proper way to retrieve a target. Notice how he first uses the pin-pointer to narrow down the target location which reduces the size of the plug needed to be cut. Next he uses a sharp proper sod cutting tool to make the cut/incision in the sod. Notice that he leaves a flap of sod/grass on his plug instead of cutting completely around the target and removing the entire plug. This is called a trap door plug and it is critical to ensure that the plug has the greatest success in staying alive once tamped down. Finally after the target is removed, he folds the plug back and tamps it securely into place with his foot. As a fellow detectorist, I would let this guy detect on my property without hesitation. He could dig 1000 plugs and I bet you would not be able to tell where he dug. Kudos to you sir and well done!

Nice finds! Just starting out with my vanquish same as yours. Do you keep yours on jewelry mode or all? So far I have found two rings and a bunch of Penny’s , dimes and a few loonies along with lots of foil and pull tabs! Lol are you in Canada or US? New subscriber- enjoy watching your hunts!
I run in jewelry mode most of the time. So far I found all my gold pieces in the range from 5 to 11. I think Penny's is what I find the most lol. I am in the U.S. Thank you for watching and subscribing, and good luck with your hunts

What pinpointer are you using?

@RJCDetecting I have a cheap pudbie pinpointer that only picks up stuff that is basically on top. Will have to look into getting the mi-4.
Yea a good pinpointer speeds up recovery time dramatically. Garrett also makes some very good pinpointers. Might want to check them out to
So the machine detects the carats of gold cos my wifes ring is 24k and show up 20
You just never know if its gold or not. Pennys also ring up 20, 21. Gold has a wide range of numbers it can ring up in. I have found gold rings with a vdi of 8- 10
