      @TheGr8one1022 Рік тому +5

      It is wild, because, when you consider his whole career, he is ranked significantly better than Conor. He's in the top three lightweights of all time with ease, after Khabib and BJ, when you consider the quality, ranking and consistency of his wins over time.
      People forget that the best lightweight fighters were scattered across multiple promotions during the late 2000s and early 2010s, and Alvarez was successful and the champion in every single one of the relevant promotions.
      Meanwhile McGregor had one admittedly incredible run at featherweight, then a gifted title shot at lightweight after getting destroyed by gatekeeper Diaz, which he was able to win. That's literally it. He's maybe top 5-7 at Featherweight and not even top 20 at lightweight.

      Not talking about earnings, of course, but as of right now, Alvarez has had a better career than McGregor. Eddie has been a title holder in many fight orgs. with many more wins than Conor. Will Conor even fight again?

    Really surprised Nate VS Mcgregor 1 wasn't on this list? Dana literally went from saying "Diaz doesn't move the needle" to outright admitting later "he's a needle-mover now." He went from like, what, 40 and 40 fighting Michael Johnson on the prelims to headlining multiple PPVs? He became an instant star and one of the most recognisable figures in MMA.

    • @Batman-iu2iv
      @Batman-iu2iv Рік тому +1

      Great point about being an upset. Although I think the whole needle mover thing is Dana not recognizing the star power of the Diaz brothers. Just look at what USADA did to Nick. The Diaz brothers have been legends the whole time but Dana will only entertain yes men.
      Edit: I was manager at a Coral at the time and I remember telling all my good customers to bet on Diaz via sub @ 6/1. I told them Conor only loses on the ground and Nate is a wizzard. I still remember the feeling when they all came in to collect the bets.

    as a bisping fan from london, i feel the anderson silva comeback moment is also his defining moment. being pretty much knocked out because he lost his mouth guard and couldn’t see due to his eye, then coming back to win is incredible

    4:55 even worse, that winnover Keith Jardine was highly controversial too. Keith won that fight by all intents too. Bonnar was a tough as nails guy and sadly it clearly began to take it's toll on his pysche late in his career.

    This has to be a multiple-parter because there’s definitely way more that could be talked about.
    My pick would be Joanna vs. Rose. Joanna was a killer. Undefeated and never really looked threatened. She was the Boogeywoman and for damn good reason. But once Rose put her out in MSG, she never fully recovered. Only two more wins in the rest of her career. Sure, she had some great performances in some of those losses but her aura of dominance and invincibility was was completely shattered by Namajunes.

    Beating Stipe Miocic really did wonders for DC. It helped stepped out of the shadow of Jon Jones. It put him into the good gracious of the community at a time he was called a fraud. It would cement his legacy as one of the best to step into the cage. And it led up to him being the the first man to defend the LHW and the HW titles at the same time.

    Chael said I'm going to put my forehead into his chest, take him to the ground and drop bombs on him for 5 rds. Then he did it. Even Joe Rogan asked between 4-5 is it too early for Chael to take a victory lap? Then the unthinkable happened.

    • @toyotaecw

      The unthinkable… a gracious, considerate man like Chael who fought his way up from the gutters of West Lynn, Oregon, passed the torch to another man so that he too could elevate himself from the poverty stricken nation of Brazil. With his decision to tap, Chael allowed Silva to finally earn enough money to buy the Nogueira brothers an actual donkey to feed carrots to rather than a bud. Chael P. Sonnen, the P stands I can’t let you get close, undefeated, undisputed, never lost a round, greatest of all time.
