  • How to remove the fuel tank on a gsxr 600/750.
    This tutorial is for a 2008-2010 bike, but it's very similar for most other bikes and years.

    Looks like this would also basically apply to 06 and 07 gsxr as well

    I wish I could figure out what size those two bolts are bc I’m missing mine since I bought the bike with a rusty tank and I’m trying to put it back on

    The plastics on the side of the take are removable!!!! You’re gonna snap those plastics if you leave them on like he did

      thanks buddy...ok jump on ebay and try type in "gsxr fuel tank rod" or variations of tank rod with tank prop or tank chock. someone will have one somewhere.

    Trying to replace the tank on my 2016 gsxs 750 but can’t find any videos on it. Is the process similar at all?

    Did you drain the gas? Before removing??

    • @GunslingerOfficial
      @GunslingerOfficial  5 років тому +4

      No, the tank has a valve so once disconnect won't flow freely

    Weird question, I pulled my tank and forgot to pull off the 2 vacuum lines that are not in the pump and accidentally pulled them completely out. Do you know where they go?

      Are you talking about @3:28 ? those two hoses? i think they are just breather/ overflow hoses as i took my used bike apart mines don't even have them . bikes been riding fine

    odd question, when i removed my tank and disconected it, it didnt really leak any gas, and the tank is full, it would lose some gas if i shake it but i had no gas dripping out of it otherwise, is that normal or have i found the reson the bike wont work

    • @GunslingerOfficial
      @GunslingerOfficial  6 років тому

      If you shake it where does it leak? From the house that you disconnected? Check the line is clear, not sure how but always check for kinks in lines, best to always eliminate the small/easy/cheap things first!

    • @sarahhoffman322

      Gunslinger i disconnected the hoses from the tank, its an 2001 gsxr 600, so right now there are no hoses attached to the tank, but it doesnt really leak at all and thats what i was wondering about because everything i have every worked on when you detach the tank or hoses the gas will flow freely out of it but that doesnt happen with this tank, should i empty it and just give it a really good clean, or is it supposed to not lose any gas when disconnected

    • @GunslingerOfficial
      @GunslingerOfficial  6 років тому

      @@sarahhoffman322 oh I get you now. No it is a valve that when seated with its pair will open up. The leaking gas I talk about is a small amount 20-30ml that is left in the line..but keep in mind this is an 08..not sure if the 01 is different..

    I lifted my tank and now it wont stop leaking gas from the bigger overflow hose. Nonstop leaking.

    • @gunslingervr4959
      @gunslingervr4959 4 роки тому

      check they're connected correctly and you haven't mistaken the overflow with the fuel line

      @nyc5898 4 роки тому

      @@gunslingervr4959 yes theyre connected right. I never disconnected anything. Just lifted the tank. I saw the hoses looked pinched so i straightened them out. Thats about it

    How do you drain the gas?

    • @GunslingerOfficial
      @GunslingerOfficial  6 років тому

      troy demers was a while ago but either fuel lines from the bottom or once the tank is off, put the tank upside down

    • @ricsim78

      Get a plumber's siphon, how I drained mine. Auto parts store or in my case, Amazon.
