as soon as you remove the cables from the servo the valve on the exhaust will go to full open and stay like that because it's spring loaded to the open position
I did this to my GSXR600, after watching this clear tutorial and no regrets, just one thing, pull out wire from plug, don't cut it ! Thanks for video really helped.
did it last night and that stupid light is finally gone.. it was actually really easy and the camera helps you spot out exactly where everything is... was a little worried about cutting the wire but after i did it was smooth sailing.. took the tank the whole way off and it made it really easy... took about 25 mins to do it all.. thanks great vid..
Like this video, my FI light was on, finally figured out that my servo gear was destroyed and the servo was making the light go on. Cutting the #30 wire was the trick, saved 60 bucks by not buying the servo buddy!!! Thanks for this video.
This is for those who want more throtle response and more flow, i just did this my bike the other day and it works amazing no joke its the real deal. Okay so make sure u disconect your Battery and your ECU then take all the set valve cables appart etc... MAKE SURE YOU CUT PIN # 30 BLACK BROWN GREEN... Make sure you cut the pin OR YOU WILL GET A F1 LIGHT CODE c46 aka SET Valve Failure. Great Video Man I Will Try To Make An HD One ....
Worked like a charm. The mechanics love this thing; the install an aftermarket exhaust, predictably the FI like starts flashing, they charge another $150 to diagnose the light (which thy already know why it's flashing) then they charge another 3-400 to map the bike. What a racket.
So, I plan to tackle this project this weekend. My 06-750 has intermittent FI light and a squeal/clicking noise from the right side, rear fairing. Though is video could have had better lighting, I do believe it will solve my FI light, noise issue, and give me better throttle response. I had an 06-600 a few year ago that I installed a M4 exhaust and shortly after had an FI light. The dealer took care of this for me (me not knowing what actually took place) but they said they "opened the exhaust back pressure butterfly valve". After they made my FI light go away, the throttle responded much better and no more FI light. Hope this leads to a "self-fix" on my current bike. Thanks for the vid!
Perfectly safe to remove. Remove it with pulling the #30 wire don't cut it. Also, install a power commander and you will notice a huge difference. The "bog down" issue in the lower rpms is gone and much smoother throttle response.
Top video. Sorted my gazer 750 k6 today. Spot on. Only thing I would say is you don't have to remove the whole side faring, I just unscrewed the points and there was enough room to reach the appropriate parts.
Thanks for the Video I can confirm that once the cables are removed the SET valve it is open. Check with your manual to disconect the wire as i did. I can also tell you that the bike runs better and it gained 2hp.
Done this to my bike this morning worked a treat! Thanks for uploading the part that took the longest was cutting the number 30 wire I must of counted to it and from it up to 34 about 100 times to make sure it was the write wire to cut lol no more red warning like and f1 code = WiN !
For what it's worth - since removing the SET valve from the 2006(thus fixing the very obnoxious ticking sound the bad servo was making), I've refueled my bike twice from empty. I meticulously keep track of all fuel and maintenance on my vehicles. The first tank was 44.2 miles per gallon, the second was 38.7mpg. The least mpg I've gotten in 13 fillups was 35.52; the maximum was 51.06. My average fuel economy is 41.48, so both of the post-removal results are within an acceptable tolerance ...
Thanks for the video! Used this and some other forums to diagnose my red FI light. Bought a 600 K6 2nd hand yesterday and only realised the light today! Luckily just a C46 error due to the fact a previous owner had removed the set valve wires but apparently not removed wire #30 from the CPU. Cant comment on whether the ride is better or not but it runs beautifully with the valve set on open :)
Thanks a lot for the effort put into throwing this video out. I was starting to tear into mine to throw the Full Yosh TRC on and was like WTF?!? -Thanks again bro!
p.s. the valve automatic position once you take the cables off is wide open so you don't have to take your exhaust off to do it.. just disconnect the cable and the valve will be wide open... didn't even have to take off my right side farrings...
Nice it's pin 30 that needs to be cut u saved me a lot of research my first time putting my machine on the track the f1 light came on I hate that stupid valve I'll remove it and my pc3 will handle the proper tuning
thanks for the up load the servo motor froze up on me last season and ive been wanting to get rid of that fi code ever since. i have to admit i was a little nervous cutting that wire but all is well. thanks again
what if we just pull out the cables from pulley motor so that excv pulley works but does not do anything since cables are out. and set valve will remain open
This was a great instruction. I did this few years back looking at this video. Please stfu haters and assholes. The guy did his best and it was easy and good. My bike runs perfect because of it.
i support your comment but i have question why you remove your exup i read many many pages on internet but i still dont get it why you remove it do you think that yamaha suzuki kawasaki engineers are fools to add it on bike
I just installed a two brothers slip on,I left the set vave and never cut the cables or wiring.I have no f1 code light and I still have all the power.I suggest not removing any of the set system. It was put on for a reason.Your call!
IF YOU READING THIS COMMENT, YOU ARE VERY LUCKY! Do not uncut any wires (including black one if you got L1 or 2011+ gixxers or you will be in trouble, use servo buddy instead and search for "2011 750 set valve mod" thread in gixxer COM forum and MAKE SURE YOU READ IT BEFORE YOU GO
Hello, nice vid, have you ever had an FI error on your display for installing an aftermarket exhaust?? I just did have that, I replaced my factory pipe for a Yoshimura TRS Carbon bolt-on, my bike is gsxr750 k5. Do you know if this is normal for these models?? Thanks
@Duyer18 You don't have to get A Power Comander, You can actually remap the stock ECM on Suzuki's. And yes if you do the set valve delete it will give you sharper throttle response. I have the same year and HAD the same pipe. I recently upgraded to an Akra hex shorty. I don't have a power commander either, i had my stock ECM remapped.
@Jason Chu take of the seat theirs a wire box, u have to unpluge the cable #24? 34? i forgot the number but i know its brown...i use to have the light also got annoying so yea...unless u take it to a shop but it will run u bout a buck fifty $150.00
I have a 2006 gixxer 1000 and i was wondering, it it still pin 30 on the wire that you are supposed to cut? is it still black with brown stripe? or is it different?
My servo on my zx6r is shot...i was wondering if you can remove the servo and valve....guess so. Ppl have been saying low end power is lost but mid range and higher is alittle better. Sounds louder also. My valve is stuck closed, bike works hard to get over 8 thousand r.p.m's. Im either looking at the servo buddy or removing servo and valve all together. Thanks for the vid
I have just fitted a full akropovic system to my 750 09 which means I totally removed the valve but tricked the "gyro" with a component that comes with the exhaust. I get the same f1 light which akropovic didn't explain . Will the #30 wire work for this or is there a problem. Great video thanks.
I needed more light my boy got a Gsxr 1000 and iam trying to fix his joint now. Just purchased a aftermarket exhaust from revzilla. But it's hard to see that last step in wire cutting cuz it's so dark.
Usually the reason for the removal of the SET valve is because you chopped the cat off and want better sound (or some after market exhaust's). If you dont remove it after you chop the cat off, you get a light on your display and your gonna have a bad time!
I'm sure the set valve is open as default when you take the cables of don't think you need to turn the key I'll be attempting this tomorrow after watching a few videos on this. Still a bit unsure as the cutting the wire on pin 30 tho lol
I will be trying this tomorrow Ive had the FI light problem from 2months after i got my bike brand new..... now it shuts off when I stop at lights ect so I hope this fixes all the problems
Quick question. I bought a 2006 gsxr and the person had installed a two brothers exhaust and the red light is on on my dash. I just want to get rid of the light. I figure its related to the set valve. If i take off exhaust and turn bike on the valve will be set open - would the light stay off? Is there an easier way to turn off the red light?
Does anyone know by cutting this wire will it make it where just only FI light won't come on or will it effect other as in like the light want come on if something else is wrong with the bike??
nice video :) if i buy a full system for example akrapovic, will that set valve thingy be removed then? and all i have to then is unplug that black guy?
i kno I'm late to the party, but I have a 07 gsxr with a Leo Vince slip on n yes my f1 is on so with the help of this great video will/would this solve my probelm??
i would like to ask ,cos your bike got aftermarket exhaust and mine have stock with catalytic converter its safe to remove that cables and leave valve open ? cos for now mine gexter done 9800miles and FI flashing ? im curios cos all the bike in youtube with sport exhaust without catalytic converter p.s forry for a language i am foreign :)
Does removing pin 30 also disable all other engine codes? My exhaust actuator broke last summer and pulled all the wires and clipped the wire as you showed in the video. However, now my bike has a rough idle and smells like it's running rich. I put it in dealer mode yesterday and didn't get any codes and I wanted to know if it's because I clipped pin 30. Any help is much appreciated!
Question, after reading the comments, has anyone had an FI light pop up after removing the cables or making any mods I have seen in the comments? Did all these work?
My motor hex wheel doesn't start off in the same position as yours does. My motor starts off in the adjustment position, cycles only upward and then back to the adjustment position. It never goes down where it is supposed to go. I believe that Petes cycle in Bel Air did this to my bike because there is no reason for it to do this.
ive taken off the exhaust, removed the SET, & wire from Pin 30. I did it in the same steps as in this video except i couldnt see that good last night & unplugged the wire from Pin 29 instead of Pin 30, well the bike wouldnt start, today i found i had unplugged Pin 29 so i plugged it back in & took Pin 30 out...the bike still wont start up! has anyone else had this happen when trying to do this? what to do now?
Yes. The valve default is full open. You can leave the servo motor attached to the bike. However, you need to buy the servo eliminator plugin. Got mine from vizi tec. Works perfect now.
I understand the process but I'm still left with the same question after watching this video and reading several forums. How do I know for sure that that the SET valve is fully open without taking my exhaust off? I see people just remove it like you have done and yet they don't mention anything about knowing the position of the valve. Do I need to physically move it to the right position? Or do I need to do something with turning the bike on and off at the right time to make sure it's open...?
Hi!!! Well first thank you very much for this video, I have some problems with my gsxr 600 2007 and a person told me this example. But... I just need a favour please!! My English is not very well yet, so could you give me the instructions that you explain in this video in words please?? I hope you can help me!! Thank you so much!!
JoeyKhazma1 My bike is a 2008 gsxr 600 so i dont know if that would be any different but i cant find anything on the net or forums to tell me otherwise
+JoeyKhazma1 Did you fix your issue? Just curious I know this was 10 months ago. I heard that even if you pull out the wire that the FI light will come on if you disconnected your servo without installing a servo buddy. Your light may have went on because you unplugged the servo, I just left my servo in and disconnected the servo cables.
@chiquitico99 Hey there mr. engineer you prob dont own one of these bikes at all cause if you did you would know every aftermarket full system eliminates the exup motor.. as long as you tune the bike it will re adjust your fuel map... explain to me why i got more power after full system deleting the valve and tuning it??... come tell me my bike dosnt run smooth.
the valve is sprung open to the fully open position when the cables are removed.... also on doing this mod be prepared to lose a lot of mid range due to the flap being fully open and resulting in little or no back pressure.
This is not correct. I gained four horsepower mid-range and seven at the very top on the bike dyno. This valve is for emissions and cold-weather starts.
... for my bike's fuel economy. Suggesting that removing this [useless] device has no apparent effect on fuel economy, and if it does, any change +/- is negligible. As far as "smoothness", my bike seems to run better with a more responsive top end, but as I said the motor in my SET valve was bad and not opening the valve fully. In my opinion, the cost and hassle of replacing the SET is not worth it compared to removing it; especially if you ever plan to get an aftermarket exhaust.
as soon as you remove the cables from the servo the valve on the exhaust will go to full open and stay like that because it's spring loaded to the open position
I did this to my GSXR600, after watching this clear tutorial and no regrets, just one thing, pull out wire from plug, don't cut it !
Thanks for video really helped.

perfect video I did it for my 07 gsxr 750 and I had no problems, if you can't do it after this video you should be outside waiting for the short bus

@fergiy89 the valve is spring loaded and it will automatically stay open. the cables keep it closed
I have the akra shorty 07 mounted on my gsxr k8. Very simple to do it, cut the cat right before the weld. And grind the weld down till it fits.
Plan on doing it to my gsxr 1000 . Thank u for video good job

Very informative THANK YOU
I have clicking noise coming from right rear and I believe my exhaust servo is playing up is this the same thing with a different name?
Does anyone know by cutting this wire will it make it where just only FI light won't come on or will it effect other as in like the light want come on if something else is wrong with the bike??
Nice video, this stupid valve has caused me no end of issues.
hey i have the 06 600 and i have the -c46 code should i remove the valve too or just adjust it?
I removed the wires and still getting the c46 and I don’t see how when the wire is gone
nice video :) if i buy a full system for example akrapovic, will that set valve thingy be removed then? and all i have to then is unplug that black guy?
i have a after market exhaust on my 2006 gsxr 600 the jardine gp1 exhaust and my red FI light stays on can u i just remove wire #30?

what color is the # 30 wire on a 2004 1000?
do the 2013 gsx-r 600s have this valve?
Dear Master, do you feel any difference removing that? is it bad for the bike?
Thanks!
Is there any harm if this is left the way it is? I mean I don't mind F1 light on... is this Ok? Thanks
shoulda done a b4 n after sound clip.. did you notcie a difference in the sound? great vid btw !!!
Has there been any complications with your bike that you noticed once removing the cables from the butterfly
Question, after reading the comments, has anyone had an FI light pop up after removing the cables or making any mods I have seen in the comments? Did all these work?
why'd you shoot the video in the dark?
thanks for the video bub. it was nice. really clean.
Will that fix the hard to start problem?
I have an 06 750 and I can't stand that damn valve. Thank you for the info .
@twizzy808 is it brown?? if so u can remove...dont cut it...remove then tape it
anyone knows if this is the same for the k8... I got mine second hand without the SET and I just want to be sure its done right
What will it benefit me to remove the valve. I thought it was there to give more power in mid range. Will I loose power overall or what?
im just affaird of doing a mess up, with this, on my bike. is it okay that i do not cut the wire??
My motor hex wheel doesn't start off in the same position as yours does. My motor starts off in the adjustment position, cycles only upward and then back to the adjustment position. Thank you so much for the clear and simple instruction!
What should I do if the cable snapped
did u notice any differnce without it? or nothing crazy?
is it worth it? i got and dual exhaust gsxr1000
so pretty much just adjust the wire and should turn off the f1 light right?
@chuckles4379 Pulling just that wire is in relation to the SET valve. All other FI indicators will function like normal.
What is the easiest way to pull #30 pin without cutting it?
is it the same on a 2004 1000?
Can I just unplug the wire when the bike is off and leave everything in tact? Is the valve open when the bike turns off?
Yes. The valve default is full open. You can leave the servo motor attached to the bike. However, you need to buy the servo eliminator plugin. Got mine from vizi tec. Works perfect now.
Very good video thank you
I understand the process but I'm still left with the same question after watching this video and reading several forums.
It has a spring that opens the butterfly when the cables are removed
what is the running temperature?
Could I remove everything like u did but instead use a servo buddy to remove FI light ??
if you want to install servo buddy then you can remove exhaust servo but you dont have to remove that one wire from that connector
Will it work 2008 Gsxr 600
what is the reason of this valve ???
very helpful, thank you!
@goosedizzel gixxer k6 600 although it should be the same on both k6 and k7 models

Just bought a GSX-R and someone wired the valve to open and I have like no bottom end power at all, and I can’t figure out how the hell to fix it
Also F1 light is on as well.
ive done all this. ive removed the right wire from the ecm but after a minute of riding, my f1 light comes back on. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?!?!?!
Leave the servo on the bike. Just remove the mechanical links.

Hey there mr. engineer you prob dont own one of these bikes at all cause if you did you would know every aftermarket full system eliminates the exup motor.. as long as you tune the bike it will re adjust your fuel map... explain to me why i got more power after full system deleting the valve and tuning it??... come tell me my bike dosnt run smooth.
how do i readjust it?
the valve is sprung open to the fully open position when the cables are removed.... also on doing this mod be prepared to lose a lot of mid range due to the flap being fully open and resulting in little or no back pressure.
