This is a *GREAT* speed tree tutorial. I do wish the textured result was shown, but man it's a straight forward, clear, and CONCISE example of not one but TWO things. I wish every youtube tutorial was so well put together :)
per the "Please put in any requests".... I'd be interested in best practices for leafs. I'm using Substance Designer to do leaves, and so far I have a pretty good individual leaf (thanks to a youtube tutorial), and will be working on making a "leaf map" in Designer as well, so that I can have it grow / change in game. However, placement of the individual leaves & leaf maps is still new, and a lot of the techniques some may use to do that, and other things like bushes/flowers etc, eludes me.
I can do a tutorial on this. To be honest a lot of people would use Xgen if you were really trying to get a lot of leaves on a plant, because it's a gpu instancing thing. Speedtree models can get HUGE with enough leaves to be realistic.
I really don't know why but I've been looking for that kind of tutorials for months now and I only found yours today by accident :o That was so useful, thank you so much!
You really did a great job in doing this tutorial for us! Thanks very much for doing this!

does the materials support v ray ? can i import the models to cinema 4d?
cannot see your mouse. great tutorial though
I occasionally get an issue where my leafs are "speared" through the branches?
Hi, when we import the leaves, do we have to import leaves mesh ,or we can import png leaf texture? or both works too and which is better for game?
Both can work. For games, you would use cards, or planes and just put textures on those with opacity maps...
@@stevenhubbard7492 ok, thank you!
so when I selected my tree icon to change it from tris to quads I dont have the geo tab you have under the generation tab? all I have is size scalar
Same here.
???
You need to have Speedtree 7 to have that...I'm assuming you are using an older version
wow awsome men!!! cograts :D
I'll be posting more Speedtree demos soon! Please put in any requests on things you want to see!
yea Is there a option for change of units(cm, mm, in)??
I think there is in settings but to be honest I always just change the scale in Maya to fit my needs. Thanks!
THANK YOU
you are welcome!
I take it yuou are using version 7 and not the new version 8 as I do not have many of the options you have.
Yea these videos are a few years old...
No such library in UE subscription. In fact I am wasting so much time in this "speed" tree to find out how to make custom leafs fast
Sir,thank you for your video. Now I have a big problem. So I wish to see you show how to create a peach-blossom tree. Thanks!
