For anyone who followed this guide and couldn't get the wind to work in Unreal, as was my case, you need to add a "Wind Directional Source" to your environment from the "Place" mode in the upper left corner.
can anyone tell me why wind only works on my leaves but not my branches? in speed tree the branches move with the leaves yet once imported it's only the leaves.
1 - after exporting models from speedtree the textures / materials are exported with the mesh 2 - after remaking the materials in ue4 the leave orientation is wrong and doesnt match the direction of the branches how can i fix this ?
Hi, is there any way or possible you can still use vertex processing without selecting create materials and still have the same wind effect you set up from the Speedtree because after I applied my own material setup actor wind doesn't affect the foliage. edit: importing .st file then enable create material and vertex processing then copied all the nodes from other foliage material and use the auto-generated speedtree material and now using it as the base for all imported .st file and now all the wind animation from newly imported is working even disabling the create material of speedtree options.
What about packing multiple textures on to an atlas like we used to be able to do with the compiler, i need to be able to arrange those leaves onto my texture. is that functionality gone?
Hey, What about exporting multiple variations of trees to share the same atlas? That was really easy in the old v7 compiler so just wondering how that's done now?
Exports from Speedtree always display dark inside Unreal. Materials don't have there SS setup even though its setup within Speedtree. Speedtree materials use the default material inside unreal, isn't it meant to be 2 Sided foliage? What's the best material setup? Surely this stuff is basic?
PBR should always be "basic", that being said... Their PBR workflow is non-existent, shader logic is very minimalist so your trees generally won't look good. Best to make your own master mat for your speed trees
Hello! Thank you for the wonderful video. Help me. In the tab maim wind no line (Algorithm (UE4)).When exporting to Unreal , animation is not transferred. Yours faithfully I wait for the answer.
HELLO! How to make "SPHERICAL WIND SOURCE" in UE4 for speed tree ? Also how to make Rolling Wind in UE4 ??? Thanks a lot! P.S. how to make growing tree for UE4 ???? SpeedTree has Such Good features .. but not for UE4 ????
So does this mean that we can now use the paint foliage option to place our trees without losing LOD/wind properties? Or is the manual placement still the most optimal option?
Hi, You can paint foliage and still get wind. As for LOD's, SpeedTree-style smooth LOD (where parts of the tree scale away) is still not available in painted foliage, as the information needed to do it is not available in the shader. However, if you choose painted foliage in the v8 importer for UE4, it will automatically set up regular crossfaded LOD for you instead, which does work in foliage. Hope this helps! :)

is there any chance you guys could make a new updated version of this for speedtree 9? speedtree 9 and ue5 differs a bir from this i think.
FYI - You can change lightmap settings right under the LOD settings
i have no leaves on my trees ... can u help me ?`?
some trees work but the most ones are with no leaves -.-
HI it seems that, the wind doesn't show up in UE4.Its weird,Anybody know whats the error?
i'm exporting exactly the same and the tree isn't showing up in Unreal, why is that?
LOD reduction is super impressive, but you should give us control over billboard generation as give us the option to bake mesh imposters...

can you do an updated version for UE5. My tree when imported the leaves are very dark compared to speedtree.
What is an atlas? Is it just a collection of files that are needed for one object?
Are there any videos teaching how to export to cryengine?

Where is Compiler in Speedtree 8 ???
I can't find it

Is there anything that would cause the 'Export to UnrealEngine' option disappear?
Yes. Not having the Speedtree for UE4 license. ;)

I made a tree with some decorations (knots and lumps), but it's not being exported with the tree when I try to export in .st format. What should I do?

can you make a video about Billboards?
What would you like to see?
I wanted to buy the program, downloaded the trial version, but it does not export files, a bad program
How can I put the tree in the scene in UE4 and then put the same tree again in the scene and change the shape automatically?
PLEASE HELP ME.
Hello friend I am using the unreal version 4.21 and there is no option to export to unreal. Could you explain how I solved this?
HI
After o launch the scene, tree starts from very low speed and became faster
How can i do it faster at once?
I ve done fastest speed in speedtrree
The export process speedtree 8 change to 3ds max? you could make a video

I do n ot have Export to UE4 ! WTF???
You need the Speedtree for UE4 license to get the UE4 version of the modeler.
Hi i cant seem to import it because the UE4 importer doesnt recognize the .st file
Hi, SpeedTree Modeler v8 only works with UE4 (version 4.19). If you are using an older version of UE4 then it won't work. Sorry for the inconvenience!
If you're using SpeedTree v8 you'll need to make sure you're using ue 4.19 or it won't work.
Hi, I'm using 4.19 and it doesn't recognize .st files. Is there something I'm missing?
subsurf map included?

What about unity?
I exported model with a wind but there s no wind
I cant even see stem of the tree
Like leaves braches and etc
But model is good

It does! Thanks so much! Also, will there be a time-lapse modeling video for speedtree for UE4? Or any kind of tutorial other than this one?
Fix!!! Download version (speedtree for ue4 subscription v8)
1:02 oh, how convenient xD
Wait, what is the point of buying this software if you can't sell models made with it...
You can use them in your work, in film or videogames industry, and create awesome levels with it, bruh
Thanks a Million!
0:58 oh i didn't know that .....:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
"drall call"
i Paid too f**** money for it but didn't export to UE4.
UE4 didn't recognize .st files.
Bring back my money
