I have been told it it is always better to clean out the the bird house after the nesting season therefore I make the front detachable. Any thoughts on this?

Having a way to clean out the bird house is an option. The reason I don't have a detachable part to allow the cleaning of the bird house is most birds that will utilize a bird house will clean it out themselves when they move in the same way they would in the wild when they build their nest in a hollow of a tree. In my opinion there is no right or wrong with this, and as I always say, it's your project, so build it the way you want it. Thanks for your comment.
