Sir Barton A Forgotten Legend

Sir Barton was an American racehorse in the early 1900s. Sir Barton is known for winning the first ever triple crown and what was deemed the race of the century for his match against Man O War. But Sir Barton's story is certainly one of the strangest in Triple Crown history, taking him from obscurity to fame, and back again. However he was disregarded as a triple crown winner until the 1930s when the series was considered what is it today. So Sir Barton is said to be the Forgotten Triple Crown Winner even more so that his 4 year old career was eclipsed my Man O War.

His feet were tender, due to brittle hoof walls. Johnny Loughton said that Bedwell gave Sir Barton coke. True or not, i have never heard. Sir Barton finished his life as a sire for Army remounts in Wyoming. Sir Barton was a year older. He won the Triple in 1919 and he and Red locked horns in 1920.

Not that he would have beaten Man ‘O War, but Sir Barton was already washed up due to foot problems at the time of that race.
