Go back and look at old ranking of Brady by Simms you will get a quick glimpse as to how the guy can be skewed when he does not like someone. He is biased in his takes it’s not even funny and looking at what he is doing at Purdy this year I am very much tempted to say that Purdy is the new Brady when it comes to Simms blacklist. I hope he eventually gets out of Simms doghouse.
He already has 3 GWDs in the post season out of 6 games and 1 4th qtr comeback.

Go back to look at Brady’s old rankings from Chris Simms they were just as bad if not worse. He gave Brady a very bad rating the year following the SB win in Tampa you see Simms squirming in trying to justify his garbage ranking of Brady coming out of a SB win. You just see someone trying to justify a ranking based on nothing else than that he does not like the guy period. Nothing more nothing less.
He actually said, “if game gets ugly, you won’t see good consistent play from Brock” but his win against the Lions NFC Championship game exists 🤔

@@greenanddan i think Simms has a blacklist and any QB that ends up on it can’t get a fair ranking from him. When I viewed Purdy’s ranking and the comments attached to it. It reminded so much of previous Brady’s ranking and comments. You had a ranking that made no sense at all and the same type of nonsensical comments to try to justify a ranking that was just unjustifiable. On the other hand you could have a QB like Cam Newton that was ranked in the top 10 by Simms only to be completely out of the league the next year.
As a Bengals fan, seeing Purdy at 17 is a joke.

What are the parameters? 2:40 You are saying that when things got ugly in the two playoff games Purdy didn't step up? I had to check with my wife to ensure I wasn't in a comma last year. When things were bad, Purdy carried them with his feet and decision-making.
I love when they bring up the Ravens game....Yeah, it was pretty rough...but just like the Bengals game, he got back out there and kept throwing it. If Chris had Purdy around 13, I'd let it slide, I feel like most of this shit is subjective. (The PFF ranking proves that...Purdy's combined numbers clearly put him in top 7 at least, but "athleticism pushed him down to 13). Pay attention to where his O line is ranked in pass pro. Pay attention to his elite short area quickness. He's faster than Mahomes. Dude is a straight up baller. Get him a top ten O line in pass pro and get those superbowl rings ready.

I'm a Simms fan, but I'm disappointed in his analysis hear. I took Purdy's strengths and used those same strengths as his weakness.
When purdy wins, the narrative was i want to see how he handles a bad game or co e back from behind... then he proves he can tough it out during a bad game, comes back to win late, but the narrative flips to focus on the struggles etc. 17 is disrespectful af.
4:30-It's getting worse. Right before this, he says that Purdy is quick because of his decision-making and then goes on to say that his physical throwing motion is slow and all over the place. He credits the Run after the throw for saving him after a bad decision the play before. The guy had a top completion percentage in the league-even adjusted, he is in the top five.
Set the 49ers single season passing record. And they've had some pretty decent QBs. Led the entire NFL in QB rating. Got to the Super Bowl. Played well in the Super Bowl.

Purdy last season led the league in QBR (72.8), passer rating (113.0), yards per pass attempt (9.6), yards per completed pass (13.9) and passing touchdown percentage (7.0).
In his first 2 seasons he’s been to 2 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.
Also, was a candidate for MVP.
And lastly, about Jimmy. In 2019 Jimmy he did have a great year did he not?

When wide receivers aren't able to break free from tight man coverage is Purdy supposed to throw the football and run to catch it himself? Who was the genius that kept dialing up plays to an injured Deebo Samuel in the Super Bowl? Kyle Shanahan, not Brock Purdy. The football should have been going to Brandon Aiyuk more. Nevermind that last season was Brock Purdy's FIRST FULL SEASON as a starting quarterback in the NFL. You see other NFL teams like the Patriots and the Vikings want to sit their new rookie quarterbacks to give them time to learn the system and get acclimated to the team. Even the great Patrick Mahomes SAT FOR A YEAR! But Brock Purdy was thrown into the fire. Brock Purdy hit the floor running. Purdy's arm was severely injured at the end of his rookie season, a rookie season in which he DID NOT get to play a full season. Purdy didn't get to train in between his rookie season and his second year. No one ever talks about ANY of this. And if they do it's barely an afterthought.
People talk about how Brock Purdy has weapons. Guess what? So do most quarterbacks in the NFL. Not only do most quarterbacks in the NFL have weapons, a lot of them are a weapon because they're 6' 3", 6' 4" and 6' 5" and are physically bigger than Brock Purdy. Which means, Brock Purdy is doing MORE WITH LESS. But no one talks about this fact.
I feel secondhand embarrassment for most of the NFL outlets. The quality of engagement is poor. The quality of research and biased opinions is low and unacceptable.
You do not know what you're talking about. How embarrassing and utterly unprofessional of you to say that Brock Purdy doesn't have a 4th quarter comeback. He has MULTIPLE 4th quarter comebacks. The first was in the 2023 Browns game. Brock Purdy drove downfield but the 49ers' kicked missed the kick. Purdy led the 49ers from behind in BOTH playoff games.

It’s irrelevant to be good or not right off the bat. There’s a reason why Dallas got smoked by him and as a Detroit fan we respect the Hell out of Love he’s a great player. So is Purdy, I would personally put Purdy higher for now.

Jimmy Garropolo has that incredible release and when he’s on it’s a sight to behold. Problem is, Jimmy has the very bad habit of throwing really stupid picks and he’s injury prone. Brock doesn’t have nearly as quick of a release but Purdy is so much more careful with the football and makes very few negative plays than Jimmy did. I liked to watch Jimmy throw; I like to watch Brock play quarterback. But I’ve been arguing that Brock should be top-10 if you look at intangibles and getting the W.
Solid take, the most challenging territory for Jimmy G is the 6 inches in between his ears when the pressure is on.

The one game (JAGS) Purdy threw a pass to Kittle as the pocket swallowed him alive. Shanahan said Purdy looked like he was throwing a grenade from a bunker.

this is a fine list. Personally I'd rather have Purdy than Jackson as he is not great in the post season. I think I'd take him over Allen too. Purdy can make a lot of throws Allen simply cant make. Allen doesn't have the accuracy to play in a shanahan system at the level Purdy can. He'd be getting picked off left right and center, which he already is somewhat. Stroud is still a bit unproven but could be that fricken dude. Burrow and Mahomes are the top two for me, minus Burrow being injury prone.

Purdy surpassed Young and Montana for the best season ever for a 49ers QB. Young had more weapons in Rice, Taylor, T.O. Waters etc.

Lets look at Playoff Records after all isnt that how we judge Winners?? : Lamar Jackson: 6 years in League 6 playoff games with a 2 and 4 record. 26 Sacks 6 interceptions and 6 tds 76 QB rating. Jalen Hurts: 4 years in league 5 playoff games with a 2-3 record. 9 sacks 5 tds and 2 interceptions. 88 QB rating. Joe Burrow: 4 years in league 7 playoff games with a 5-2 record. 29 sacks 9 tds 4 interceptions. 94 rating. Brock Purdy @2 years in the League ! : 6 playoff games 4-2 record. 8 Sacks 6 TD's and 1 Interception. 96 rating. Ask John Harbaugh if he wanted PURDY instead of Jackson in that KC playoff game last year? I think he says YES and they would have likely beat the Niners in SB as well.

Too many butt hurt people don’t understand this exercise. He’s ranking QBs 1-40 through the lens of if all things were equal. Coach, WRs, TEs, RBs, OL. If every QB had the same circumstance where would they rank. Also, it’s purely his opinion 😂 I would place Purdy higher, but that’s me.
But, that's always been true! Joe and Steve had even better coaches and better overall teams, including the GOAT WR Jerry Rice. But, they weren't criticized for only being good because of their weapons.
