Keep in mind he would be playing on a team that was 15th onrushing yards per game. And they only had 1 100 yard rusher.
Dak is the most overrated QB in the NFL. I was a fan of his for a long time. Not anymore. He just doesn’t have it when the team needs him the most. He doesn’t win the big games. It’s been year after year now and he’s won nothing. I’d take Goff over Dak any day. He’s a winner.

Rams fan. Goff has grown a lot as a QB over time. I’m also a casual USC fan so I do enjoy the chemistry between Goff and St. Brown.
Goff has thrived and matured in Detroit. He has great coaches and talented players around him. That offensive line is what got him comfortable and paid. Goff has been rock solid he plays EVERY WEEK availability in your starting QB is essential for success .
Detroit is scary good. You don’t want to see them on your schedule.

Agreed but there are quarterbacks who are considerably better than Goff when under pressure so the points valid.
A) Jared Goff is great with designed movement like rollouts it's improvised movement he has a problem with. B) If Chris Simms says Goff is #10 that means he's #2.
This was the nicest Chris has ever been to the Lions. Being live for the Rams game in the playoffs with the "Jared Goff" chants really gave him a different perspective.

Goff at 10 is still way too low. He’s top 3 and he’s never lost to Mahomes. He’s been an elite QB over the last two years. After he has another amazing season let’s see where they slot him.
A few years ago the NFL started to really overhype QB’s that can scramble and play backyard football. These QB’s that are supposedly ahead of him are way worse at accuracy, decision making, turnovers, and lose big time games.
Agreed. And few, inc Simms, put enough emphasis on supporting cast, both players & coaches. I think Goff has done more with less in many ways than some of the QBs ranked ahead of him on most lists, inc this one . And experience matters, too.
I'm a Rams fan & obviously have no reason to tout the guy, but it's totally clear that he has improved & a lot of the stuff that we complained about were either exaggerated in the media or correctable by better coaching, experience, and support.
Kudos to Simms for revising his view of the player; long overdue, imo, since the nonsense he started about McVay feeding Goff more than any other young QB has been untenable for a while, especially when you watch that hilarious short video of Stafford commenting on McVay's still-never-ending verbiage over the headset & any Nacua or Kupp highlight video which shows them wide open repeatedly. Team sport even for the best individuals.
When you have time compare his best 4 years of Air stats to any in the league with the last two and he's unquestionably TOP 3. On Good Teams nobody better than him and Mahomes and he's beaten Mahomes twice in gigantic games.

Jared Goff's performance in "The Maltese Falcon" was extraordinary. Definitely top ten.
JG is a true professional. Class act act all the way! He may not be elite, but he is a very good qb bordering on great.
He also has a short term memory. He is super good at bouncing back.

Jared ducks are because of his reads and progressions, Chris knows he's Top 5 at worst, it's full blown haterade at Goff's success as a Cali kid and son of a professional athlete. Those ducks are because he's zipping the ball out of form do to seeing something last second or needs to go immediately to work. I went to Cal and watched him throw a hundred 40+ spiral bombs on a laser.
Sonny Dykes was horrible at Defense and Jared was the BeAR RAID guy, he had to learn to stay in the pocket, find the best deep option and letting it go while taking a hit at last second, nobody does it like him better but Mahomes. McVay screwed him in 2019, the O-line went to shit and he tried to turn Goff into a roll out guy like Stafford which doesn't work for a guy 6 4' like him. McVay fucked him and why he went on a apology tour after the trade and throwing Jared under the bus.

His spiral isn't pretty. But Jared Goff routinely delivers the ball to openings smaller than an Amazon box before his receiver makes his cut, even on fourth-down plays. That takes balls. Plus he makes great reads and has really slick play-action fakes.

Hey hey ill take 10th for goff. You can accurately assess someone's talent and say they are 10th best on paper and be correct, and yet on the field get far better (or worse) production than 10th best. Back in 22 and 23 there was discussion about taking a dual threat in the draft or matching the ravens and get lamar Jackson. Ironically Lamar was the only QB I thought would substantially elevate the lions. I don't think burrows, Lawrence, Allen even mahomed would get much different numbers from this offense. Goff might not be the greatest but he's great at running this offense. And goff helped ben Johnson develop the entire offense between 2021 and 22
Edit: i love what Simms is saying around 10 minutes about adjusting the offense. That's what I was trying to say when I said besides Lamar no QB would really be a substantial improvement. And the reason Lamar would be better is because the offense would change to accommodate Lamar. With everyone else the offense is so successful they'd expect even mahomes to just run the offense like Goff

I used to not really like chris Simms because I thought his negative takes and assessments came off as too rude. But then I realized that the person he insults the most is himself. Like during last year talking about Goff ignoring him on the sidelines and other reports being surprised and asking him why goff is so rude. Simms says because I talked shit about goff and that he loves goff giving it right back. If you are ok with being treated like an asshole then you can be an asshole

After last post season Goff, now having won multiple playoff games with 2 superate organization, to me, Goff is top 6. Meaning theres only 5 QBs I'd take before Goff. Thats it. Winning in Detroit in the post season was an incredible accomplishment.

@davewylie654 so if we go by stats, Tua and Purdy are the best quarterbacks, and patrick is around 10. Stats are only part of the equation. Realistically, the highest Goff can be is 7.

Goff is one injured offensive lineman away from being a bum! 25/41, 273 yards and only one touchdown in the NFC championship game, with one of the best offenses in the league, is putrid! The knucklehead plays from the rest of the team shielded his horrible play. Ranking him 10th is a gift.
Goff is the same player. He's just behind the best offensive line in football and has the best supporting cast in football. Organizational leadership on down. Goff should be around 16. You can easily name 15 QB's better than him. The highest he could go on this list is 12. That's solely because he doesn't get injured and doesn't throw many INTs. But this is just a case of people living in the moment...AGAIN! The Rams team was pretty much just as good as this Lions team. He seems to be very fortunate. Quite arguably the most fortunate QB in the NFL.

If you take his best 4 seasons including the current 2 prior and compare with every other QB in the league's BEST seasons, BEST, Goff is 2nd to Mahomes in all Air Yard and Passing Categories that measure the ARM production of a QB. When you have a running back you don't need to run. He's without Question Top 5, I have 2 in ARM behind Mahomes. Top 5 Mahomes, DAK, Tua, Goff, Allen and you fight it out who after Mahomes. BTW, Chris knows how good Jared is and EXACTLY what happened in LA. The O-line went to shit from injury and lost them all after the Super Bowl to free Agency. They went from 1st to worst the year after the Super Bowl. For the 1st half of the season he kept calling plays where Goff was supposed to roll out like Stafford and that's not his thing at his size and didn't work. Simms knows this and McVay knows this and is on the record for basically throwing JG under the bus and fouling his name falsely do to his coaching choices and neck on the line.
