Thinking about doing more timelapse drawings and info graphics when it makes sense. You all cool with that? Figure that is more exciting than staring at me for 5 minutes.
Another thing for loglines, talking about a screenwriter here, 30 words or less. Who what where why and how. Those would be the questions your logline should push to gauge interest. Also, make them relate to the story. If it's horror write the logline as a spooky story.
This is the best "pitch tutorial" that i have seen by now. And comic/webcomic oriented! It's somewhat different to the novel-oriented ones that i had know. Thanks for sharing this!
This is absolute gold, thank you! As much as becoming an original is a huge long-shot, especially these days, I'm going to write this stuff down and keep it in my back pocket just in case. I know there are at least some staff over there who are aware of my existence. :D
I know I'll never get discovered on Webtoon or have the opportunity to make a pitch, but man.. To just upload and get my story out there would be a dream come true! And thanks to all your videos I am slowly getting to that point. I always give up cause I feel my art is garbage but I just have the urge, the passion and OBSESSION with art. I know I'll never be able to die without having tried. I learned how to finally manage and create webtoons with your help.. By next year I'll finally upload! The only issue is that the title I have created 13 years ago was taken on Webtoon... And now I have to scramble for a new one.
Hey, you never know. When I started I just wanted... needed to create my stories, that was my big focus and goal. Somehow I ended up here. When you start on an unknown path, you may have an idea of where you want to go, but you don't really know where it will lead. But that's the best attitude, make your comic, write, and draw because you have no other choice, you need to. What happens happens, but at least you're doing something you want to do. Good luck!
This video was really helpful, I was under the impression that I had to include an entire beat by beat summary of my comic’s entire plot, knowing I can keep it more brief as in 3 paragraphs or less makes it a lot less stressful. 😮
WOW this is amazing! So much valuable information and just what i needed as im preparing to launch the first issue of my comic this January. Thanks so much for this!
@@walterostlie A boys life is changed when an ancient relic from the stars crash lands to earth gifting him with a strange technology.. Now with the help of a dog, a monk, and a thief, he is determined to become his like his folktale idol and take on the ancient intergalactic alien organization that wishes to fulfill a million year old prophecy to take over his home. The best way to describe it is Megaman + Dragonballz if it was a Kung fu film. Cant wait to finally put it out!
I love how informational your channel is. Helped me figure out cons and those little things nobody tells you about art. Also, hair. Your hair is awesome keep it up.
A really great video Walter! Would you be able to make a document available of the pitch bullet points? It could even be your script. Either way thanks for this-- I'm going to grind on applying this to my new comic ideas , but also my pre-existing comics. I think it could be valuable to not only future publishing, but even for improving my table pitch selling at conventions!
I'll try to put something together. Totally agree. Sitting down and actually thinking about the pitch can do wonders on multiple aspects of a comic. We can almost treat it like a mission statement.
That was a great video, but you could have said something about webtoon not having open submissions before you went on an 8 minute rant about submitting your pitch to webtoon. It's good information to use for a pitch anywhere else though, so it isn't a big deal.
Met them at a convention and they talked over email for a few months. Watch this video for full details ua-cam.com/video/KWIlGf0cOHM/v-deo.html Also this video has some insights ua-cam.com/video/Lc_FXVQ48K4/v-deo.html
I also have some questions with the pitch. I’m trying to promote my own little mini series. If you have the time I would like to try and send you the pitch. To see you feel will be up to a professional standard with Publishing. You see I talk with some polishing editors and they told me that I should start off with smaller stories to hone my skills.
You should definitely start with smaller stories. It's the best way to fail quickly and a lot. Failing is how you learn. So the more and faster you can fail, the better. You can find my email on my website walterostlie.com

Thank you for walking through this process and adding your own experience and insights! Very helpful. Also love the timelapse doodles.
Thanks, I think the timelapse will be more fun and I won't have to fix up my hair ;-)
The sticky note idea is great for keeping you on track!
A huge blinking neon billboard would also be cool, but maybe a little over-the-top?

I love your art, it reminds me of invader zim.
u are a good teacher, u visualise concepts really well, keep it up!
u might draw comics in the formats like "ten things i hate about you" "13 rules to survive a zombie apocalypse" etc

Hah, Thank you! I just cut my hair, so I am glad it still retains some power ;-) Have you started doing cons already or just preparing for them?
Preparing and attending as a guest. Hopefully I’ll get there one day!

Get it! Are you writing or drawing a comic? Or both?
@@walterostlie I'm actually doing both :) !! Im planning to post it on Webtoons soon this year!

Heck Yea! Let's show 2020 who's boss! Any plans for the year?
If i post a story to Webtoons, can i still pitch it to say Image Comics or another publisher?
Where do I pitch a story too?
