Fantastic room Christine! It looks great I bet you are enjoying it too. You have inspired me to clean my room up, it's a mess but it's my happy place where I can sew or just sit relax and stare at my stuff...lol hope your is the same.
I love your new room! you have awesome organizing abilities. I have a large sewing room but It is set up all wrong. After seeing your room you have my mind a buzz with ideas I can use from your room. Thank you, so much!
Hello from the USA. I love your sewing room! So cheerful and neat. Makes me want to make mine look neat and uncluttered too😃 love your videos and teaching style. Thank you for sharing!
Building your own island top to the size of the cutting mat? Smart. That being said, the wine racks back to back making a long narrow holder for rolled fabrics?!! Brilliant. GOTTA have that. I work mainly with leather and it's not to be folded, this will solve the problem.
Looks amazing Christine ❤. I also have the IKEA shelves in my sewing room. They are great. I have been thinking about an island like this for a while now. Hopefully later this year I may have something similar to this as well. 🤞🏻. Love the yellow too. It looks so bright and cheerful 😊
I love how you got thread clippers near each of your machines. Your room is great! I'd love to have one for myself, but we'd have to move so it won't happen soon...
Love the layout and the sunny colour. I've just re-jigged my sewing room too and it makes such a difference to get everything nicely organised. I might buy some of those 'wine rack' cubes....what a good idea for utilising every inch of space! Happy sewing Christine. 😄
Oh Christine that room is beautiful 😍 so functional and well designed. You deserve to have your perfect space for creativity......soooo who's minding the shop? 😉
Thank you so much for sharing your sewing room set up! We are just about to move house and I will have a sewing room for the first time 🥳 It’s almost identical in shape and size as yours (the door and window are even in the same spot!) and so I have soaked in all of your wonderful ideas. Thank you again for the inspiration 😊
Helping me find some inspiration here to help my Mom redo her sewing corner in her living room since she gave up her sewing room for my son and I to move in temporarily. Thank you for sharing your space
What a great space you've created for your sewing, well thought out and looks amazing. My machine & overlocker are in sewing cabinet in my bedroom, how I wish I had a designated sewing room.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful functional sewing room. So happy you survived the penicillin allergic reaction. Hope you get a great settled out of it. No one should ever have to go through what you have again.
Love your room!! I am getting ready to have my first designated sewing room, Yeah!! You have given me some great ideas to incorporate into my design. Thank you for sharing.
My husband built me a very similar cutting table- we put a large piece of butcher block on top. Love your sewing room, your videos are very good and easy to understand!
Love your revised sewing room!😍 Our house is tiny so I made sure to create a large kitchen island in my new open concept ..just in case I need to cut fabric or lay out patterns… 😉
That's a great idea. I get to go out to our table tennis room whenever I do curtains. They always take up so much space, and then I even get to have a break from exercise😁
Thanks so much Debi. I really like how it turned out, but just yesterday had a wall knocked out to make my space larger. I'll do an update video once the dust settles😁

Word of warning... when using your iron on the pad or the little board, if you use a lot of heat and or steam, the heat CAN (as it did for MY cutting board) WARP the cutting mat! Really ice and compact. I use to have a wonderful sewing room but when we moved I have to sew in my dining room. Glad we have a kitchen table so we can still eat.
That is awesome, you and Chris have done a wonderful job on that room, love the cube storage and you island. The bright yellow makes it look fresh and sunny, well done
Wonderful room. I especially like the rounded corners on your cutting table; I'm a klutz also and would always be very bruised. I agree I don't want my back to the entrance, it's too startling to have someone come up behind one.
Love your room and your video. It made me laugh. My husband got one of the kids old pool noodles and cut it up to pad the corners of my cutting island so the kids wouldn't pick up the bad words they heard everytime I hit one of the corners and all my stations face the door so I can just look up and see who is coming in, although they scare the heck out of me when they do even though I have a sign on the knob that rattles. It is my retirement motto "Love what you do and do what you love". I have added to that to say and love where you are. Keep them coming. 😃
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Oh thank god, I thought it was just my machines that didn't do what I asked of them sometimes and I have to be cross with them and then I tell them what good girls they are and get on with it. lol My family say I spoil my machines more than them. lol😄
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs i really enjoy your channel I believe you are honest and show how to make money at what we do, because I am just trying to get a stock of things to make and sell at craft shows and I watch your channel for ideas and help with how to charge because I sell really low like $5 bags and grocery bag holders I’d love new ideas,
You did an excellent job!! Wow!! Wish you lots of happy hours with your great projects in this room! Thank you for letting us all be a part of it 😊 One question though: how did you get those thinner cloth pieces stand up so nice and neat? Are they wrapped around some cardboard? Or did you pile them up and put them into the shelf all at once? Greetings, Lale
Christine. Your room looks fantastic. Love all the storage areas; lighting, cutting/storage island. Also great colour on the walls makes it look warm and welcoming! I'm glad it all turned out just the way you wanted it to. I've been unwell the past 3 weeks with a bad bout of cold - lost my voice for 3 days. Almost fully recovered now so got a few of your video's to catch up on which I'm going to binge watch over the next few days. Wishing you lots of happy sewing 🪡🧵
I love your sewing room! Thank you for the detailed explanations and advice. It's all very helpful! I hope you will enjoy many happy hours in your new space. 💙
I've been anxiously awaiting the reveal of the finished space and island. I fully intended to make an island like yours and when I watched the first video I thought: "easy peasy .. I can do that " ... (castor wheels right into shelf units) ... but am still dragging my feet ... so seeing your experience doing it without a base board has been good to learn. May I please ask what height the cutting surface is from the floor ... I've been reading that 35 - 36" is ideal? Your room is an inspiration, thank you for sharing it with us.
Ideal cutting height actually depends a bit on your height. 36" inch height is standard for kitchen counter tops so that's a way to easily test how comfortable you are with that height. I'm 5'6" and find 36"H to be perfect. My mom is 5'1" and she much prefers a 30" height. A friend is 5'10" and she likes 38".
Congratulations on your new sewing room!!! I watched your helping hands card holder the other day. I’ve been trying to find a new item to sell at my local artisan markets. I think I found it. I’ve made 14 of them so far. They are time consuming but I’m sewing them while watching TV. Thanks!!!!
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I’m hoping they will sell this Saturday and Sunday at my local Artisan Markets. I haven’t seen any one selling these, so hopefully they will sell!!!
I’m currently redoing my sewing room again and bought the Kallax units from IKEA yesterday. I’m having some for storage and am making up my cutting station just as you have. It was pretty cool watching yours come together, a bit like having a preview of how mine should look in a few day. Thanks for posting your new room, it looks fantastic.
Wow! This is a beautiful, organized sewing room. How tall is your island? Although I’m not tall, most cutting tables are too short. Love that the island has storage. It must be so handy. Thanks for this video. It is something to aspire to.
What an inspirational layout! I love the island and the ability to be able to walk around it is great. A few years ago I didn't have a dedicated sewing room and had to use the short breakfast bar as my cutting area but the bonus was that I could walk around 3 sides of it lol... Always a silver lining hey? I like your iron, it looks like a medium size? I've had 2 Oliso irons in the last 10 months and I'm not impressed, they have both failed me and, for my bad hands, they are just way too heavy. I can't make out the brand of your iron, would you recommend it? I'm on the lookout for one that isn't too heavy and gives lots of lovely steam for those fusibles! I was born in Germany to, in Wanne-Eickel (they have now separated it into Wanne and Eickel in the area of Herne). Came to Oz in 1961 as a 6 year old and am now 70. I went back for a visit in 1994, wonderful to meet my relatives as an adult... great visit.
Thanks Chickie. The iron is a Lumina brand. I think it's just a cheap brand that Chris picked up in Ewaste. It blew up a while back but he repaired it. I usually use my HTV Ront heat press, which entered the room some months back. If you check out my old sewing room, and the wall beside the machine in my current room, you'll soon find that I'm about to break through the brick wall and expand my space.😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I never thought of checking our eWaste station! Will go have a peek soon. How exciting that you're extending your sewing space, I will be watching for news and video on that. I use a 4 x 4.5 metre spare bedroom for my sewing room which also has to hold my knitting yarn stash lol, I'd looove to have a cutting island like yours but there just isn't space... I almost drooled when you revealed it. We only see a portion of it in your tutorials, to see it in all it's glory, that was inspiring! I bet you're excited for the expansion!
I sure am. Unfortunately the builder can't make it until November. Of course my studio doesn't look as good now. There's fabric all over the floor. It used to be a spare bedroom as well, but I put strong castors under the bench so I can move it out of the way if I need extra space for a mattress 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Hey, November is only a bit over 2 weeks away 😊 the new addition will start becoming a reality before you can blink xx Looking forward to the video diary hehe...

HI Christina, Lovely room. Would like to know where you got the overhead camera mount. Thanks 😊
I purchased the mount from Ebay. Here's the link www.ebay.com.au/itm/175001549351
Love your new sewing space. Sorry if this has already been asked but can you tell me where you got your custom cutting mat made?
Thank you. The large mat is from jktrading.com.au 😀
What an amazing room. I think I am rather jealous! What size is the cutting board? Not sure I have seen one that big before.
Thanks Sarah. The cutting mat is an A0 size 34" x 48" Here's the link in Australia jktrading.com.au/product/metric-and-imperial-cutting-mat I saw another UA-camr using it and did a search here. You should be aboe to find one in your country too😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you x
