Yep. I view this season as a standalone one. We know McCarthy is on the way in 2025 so I'm rooting for Sam to put his best foot forward here and hopefully give us a playoff appearance.
I hope Darnold puts up huge numbers. Then when Aaron Rodgers suffers a career ending injury this year the Vikings can trade Sam back to the Jets at the end of this season for a First RD draft pick;)

If Sam is putting up huge numbers (and the team is in the playoff chase), why on earth would Kwesi go and do that? What message would that send the team other than "We have zero confidence in you all to get to the playoffs so we're punting on the season. Have a wonderful day."

He only went in against the ravens and the rams and in both situations the niners offense would’ve stalled with or without him. Brock Purdy struggled just as much as Darnold did against that ravens defense throwing 4 picks and against the rams he played without most offensive starters. Overall, a year in Shanahan’s offense can only have helped and it’s not fair to judge him based on his play last season

incorrect. in the rams game he had 3 scoring drives. the kicker missed an extra point AND a field goal. that's why they lost. also, in the baltimore game he had more success than purdy
