  • I flubbed up the rear-end gasket and cover plate installation totally after not reading the service manual and assuming I knew better. To console myself after figuring up how much this will cost me I decided to see if it would run at least.

Mistakes are the tuition on the road to success. I admire you tenacity and diagnostic skills. Old proverb "yard by yard, progress can be hard...inch by inch progress is a cinch"

I learn the most from screwing up, don’t sweat it, keep up the good work.

Reading the manual takes all the fun out of it! 😊

Got to have a measure of respect for those who admit to their mistakes, especially when they could easily hide them.
    CHEERS!

That's a beast of a mower/tractor, but it looks like it has a boat load of things which can go wrong.

A lot... "not all", but a lot of engineers of today that engineer that stuff, have NEVER worked on anything in there life. Things would be way different if they did. There great with math, but you can't use math to change a light bulb. A friend is a engineer at Ford.... he could not figure out how to change the bulb in his kitchen fixture.... I did it in a few minutes and showed him how, when there for dinner a year or so ago. I don't think he even knows how to open the hood of his own car, let alone know what anything is under the hood. Sorry engineers, but your not know it all's!

Old Car Alley you have just explained to me why these new cars are so complicated to fix. Like 8 to 12 man hours to r/r heater core.

Not supposed to run those HST tractor pumps dry ! Can ruin them in seconds. Hope it survived ! Good luck with the project.

Thanks. It wasn't run dry. I had to redo the rear again so this was while it had oil in it.
