Hi, sophomore Data Science major at Cornell university. The field as whole is so broad, so this was excellent. I’ve also had a big issue finding a data set that motivates me.
I have been looking for a career switch in to Tech for some time. Data Analytics came to mind as the popularity of this position has grown thanks to social media. Here I am doing my research trying to learn more about what this career entails. Years ago I was working for a company as a receptionist and they had me doing demographic research on the local people. I recall it took me months! I was literally even using the yellow pages. I sure wish I knew about Data Analytics then.

Hello Thu, I rarely make comments on UA-cam but I am so glad to find your channel. Your content inspired me a lot. I have a few years of working in risk management and now want to expand my career more to data analytics. Working (or playing) with data is something I like to do but somehow I feel a bit overwhelmed with many new tools and technology recently :). I want to learn and know how to utilize them but don't know where to start. Your videos provide a well-structured guideline to start personal data projects and build portfolios. They are very helpful and interesting. I keep watching almost all your videos and subscribed to your channel.) Keep up your great work. Thank you for your sharing. P/S I also love painting. Mostly I paint with oil pastel since the watercolor techniques are a bit hard to manage :). I love Van Gogh and Amsterdam. Hope I can come back to Amsterdam someday :)

I’ve played with GatsbyJS to make a preliminary version of my art blog (😅) but it’s a bit more coding towardsdatascience.com/a-z-guide-to-create-and-deploy-a-website-with-gatsbyjs-github-netlify-fd8339650fc7. But of course there are also a lot of static HTML/CSS templates you can use and make it prettier to your taste. I’m looking forward to making a video on this.
Hey, thanks for the questions. I think one way to share projects with confidential data is to create a dummy dataset and use it instead. To show it on website you could write a blog post on the website or link to your GitHub 🙂

Hey Vivek! Thanks for watching and subscribing! 🥳 Excel is used as a main data manipulation tool for a majority of companies out there. It's definitely worth knowing Excel well. If you can make an Excel application with VBA to automate things or do some useful stuff, it's definitely good to include such a project in your portfolio to show your skills. I think most recruiters will assume you can work with Excel efficiently as a Data Analyst. Hope it helps! Good luck with your job applications 🍀
