Who knew that you could measure and analyze a shoe without showing any emotion or giving an opinion. You give new meaning to the word review. Thanks Professor. 12 minutes of sheer joy!
I've been wearing Vapor Glove 3s for about two years and switched to the 4. The extra room adds a lot of comfort, and I have had no fraying on the side of the shoe, which was a huge issue with the 3. This is my favorite shoe. Do yourself a favor and buy it.
This is the review I was looking for. I love the 3's but they're not going to last forever. I wanted to know if the 4 was as good as the 3, and it looks like the consensus is yes.
I have fallen in LOVE with these shoes. I bought mine back in October, just planning to wear them to the gym only ,and now I wear them everywhere! Thanks for the review!
Thanks and I think you've sold more of these Glove 4's than anyone. Massive respect my friend! Mine arrive in 3 days, never been so excited for a shoe.
Just got myself a pair of Vapor Glove 3's in gray leather, as they can be used in more different social situations and as the 4's don't seem to have any one color leather option. I think that the change in the 4's outsole was because the 3's can collect small stones between the grooves and the update eliminates that. Will probably also buy a pair of 4's sometime in the same colorway as yours in the future. Really like your reviews. Thanks.
Thanks for your review. I am an RN who suffers from some very mild to moderate back pain due to some "Degenerative" (i.e. old, worn out, I am 53) vertebral column changes......I use "zero drops" Altra Lone Peaks for hiking, which I bought some years ago based on some internet advice and review (!) and I never have a problem with my back on multi-day hikes. However I cannot say the same thing for those shoes I use at work, which do have a moderate drop. After 2 days my back feels tight and with some level of pain. Well, I 'cleaned up' the current hiker Altras for use at work and of course, after a couple of days, the revelation! No more back pain (DUH!). Well, I am planning to purchase these VT4 for work and/or daily life since they are also of a near zero/zero drop design. I have one question, is there space for an even thin layer of cushioning all along the length of the shoe? Just for additional comfort. I do stand around a lot during the 12 hour work day and I am no lightweight (5'11", 200 lbs, 44 chest, 34 waist). Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I would say, the way that they size the shoes, they should be able to accomodate cushioning. Im glad you solved your pain. You will enjoy these shoes.
Great review! My pair just arrived today but I was worried they were too big with the extra space. But you explained it well with the foot expansion and contraction. The heel sits perfectly on my foot with pretty much no slippage even with the extra toe space up front
Great review. I own both the vapour glove 3 and xero prio and would say that the merrells are better for running at a faster pace than the prios as they are contoured and fit snugly around the foot with a slight arch. This seems to give good foot control. I feel that the prios are more suited to walking and gym work as they are completely flat on the sole. Keep up the great videos
it's more of a good thing that they haven't changed much......as when it comes to minimalist shoes, when companies start chaning stuff they typically ADD too much to the shoe and make it less minimal, which unfotunately is what Merrell did with their Trail glove
Excellent review bro! Wish I could buy the vapor gloves locally but Merrell doesn't sell them here in the Philippines. If I order online, they're twice the price and I would be unable to try them on for size. However, I've been using the Merrell trail glove since 2012, starting with the earliest version until the latest version 5, and I definitely recommend minimal shoes. They're great for the gym especially when doing squats. I also run half marathons and I was able to do that pain-free because of these shoes. Great channel bro! Keep doing your quality videos!
Puwedeng puwede pang harabas 👍
Yes.. all shoes that qualify as a barefoot shoe, should be able to roll upon itself and be very light. I have heard good things about their Vapor Glove 6, give that a look also.
I use these as my daylily wear shoes and love them. The only problem I see here is you are not a forefoot striker and these shoes are specifically designed for forefoot strikers. If you heal strik it becomes very painful.
I want to buy one, but I'm not sure about size. I wear UK 9.5 (28.5 CM) with around 1 cm extra space in front, I usually wear INOV 8. Does sizing is correct with Vapour 4 according to size chart on their website?
I’m trying to find a good shoe like this one but I keep running into the issue that I have wide feet. I heard this brand is narrow. Do you have suggestions on a barefoot road running shoe like this but with a wider toe box? I’m in the Army so running is life and I prefer running barefoot with lots of flexibility.
My highest recommendation will always be for the Vibram KSO EVO (the style may not be appealing). Also, for Wide feet, I would try the Vapor Glove 3, Vivobarefoot Primus Lite and if you have very wide feet, take a look at Softstar shoes.
I normaly have a shoe size of about 43 but what size do i have to order .And my gilfriend has a sheo size of 38 what size does she need? I need your help
If you were a conventional shoe (Nike, etc) you will have a slight gap if you buy the same size, but that is more the shape of your feet being constricted, that them being oversized...but anywhere for you current size to a half size smaller is fine.
I have just bought VivaBarefoot shoes Addis black mens and I was told that it's normal to have a space around heel and so, the foot will expand. It's not like it's too loose, but it's looser, at the ankle space. Been wearing conventional shoes as tight as possible so it don't slip, if it's a little bit loose in the conventional shoes then I get blisters. So it's a normal thing? Thank you
I heard the 4s are a lot more narrower then the 3s? Do you agree? Looking to buy my very first pair of minimalist shoes! And was debating the 4s or Xero prios
Grown and Healthy what do you recommend for a beginner transition shoe? I’m looking into walking and running more on concrete (slowly build up) thank you!!
Get barefoot shoes like primus from Vivo or these vapour gloves or Xero. And transition slowly, means don't use them if you have pain. Calves will hurt first and longest. Don't run to begin with. Just waking , around the house, then outdoors, do excercises like he's shows in video, lunges. There's no transition shoe. There's only transition period when your body adapts. But it's so with it. It's so much fun
Good video and thank for this but please note that such shoes with loose trail sole pattern (over4-5mm long) are unstable on solid flat floor, this is for trail running not indoor workouts. You can have much better shoes for that.
Hi, I just bought the vapor glove 4 yesterday after watching your review. it fits my left feet perfectly but not my right. my right feet is shorter and wider so i am wondering if there is actually arch support for the shoes as i felt a lump in the middle just below the ball of my right feet and the arch height is much tighter compared to the left. can it be that the outsole is uneven and which can cause the unevenness or one shoe to be higher than the other? i dont like arch support though relatively flat arch. went back to the shop to try on the same size and model of display set shoes but it felt like the other shoe is slightly flatter but still got a little protrusion. no exchange was allowed since i wore it. what is the best way to check for the insole of the barefoot shoes? been wearing converse all stars and vans which is zero drop but narrow. thank you!
The Vapor gloves may have the mold (appearance) of arch support, but they do not.. They have flexible soles. In order for them to have full flexibility, The thinness of the sole and the sockliner are not stiff enough to support an arch.
Bro, I ordered exactly this shoes Vapor Glove 4, and also the Altra Vanish-R shoes. Both are convenient to wear, the Altra provides a slightly bigger toebox whereas the Merrell have a thiner sole. I want to keep only one pair of them, so I'd like to know about the robustness and durability or the Merrell shoes when wearing them on a daily basis on streets? Maybe you also know smth about the Altra, which for me seem super thin regarding the overlaying upper skin...
If you have extremely wide feet, go with the wider toe box... I'm not familiar with the Altra's, but by the specs, I would choose the shoe with minimal sole and no arch support.
@@GrownandHealthy I chose now for the Merrell (btw exact the same color). Toebox could be bigger though, I sometimes like to wear my correct toes inside shoes but this isn't possible with the Vapor Glove. However the design and feeling is top. From the Altra I heard too much of wear and tear issues..
Do you prefer the vapor glove 3 or vapor glove 4? Also, i read that vapor glove 4 has a thicker sole at the heel, making is less "barefoot", is that correct? Thanks
They do have a raised tread on the outer sole, which I mention in the video...I prefer the vapor glove 3, but the durability of the woven upper is better on the vapor glove 4.
@@Dan-zi4 These shoes fit larger than conventional shoe manufacturers, to allow for toe splay...But amongst minimalist shoes, they are consistent in my usual size of (45) 11 1/2
Nice video! How much room do you have from the end of your longest toe and the end of the shoe? Just got some and there is a 1/4 in gap. Is that good, or should it be tighter? Thanks!
The consensus among the the barefoot manufacturers is that they make them sightly larger to accommodate toe splay. As the foot is given more room to move than in conventional shoes, your foot will start to broaden. Does the foot expand enough to take up the extra space? In my opinion, no. But I assume there are varying degrees of expansion, depending upon the individual wearer that they are attempting to serve. Tl:DR: Yes, about a finger between the heel and shoe seems to be commonplace among minimal shoemakers.
I like the value offered by Feiyue, but the slightly convex outer sole isn't as stable as the VG4. For most uses, the Feiyue's are acceptable and very durable.
How are the arches on the vapor gloves? I tried on a pair of the trail glove 5 and immediately took them off as the arches were way too high and hurt my feet. I have and like the zero shoes but was looking for other minimal footwear that may hold up better. I walk a lot on concrete (sales) and the outsold wears out too quickly on my xero shoes.
The Trail Glove is not considered a minimal shoe, because of the raised heel and arch support. The Vapor Glove doesn't have arch support ( a good thing) and has a zero drop sole, I think they would be a great option for you. I am also looking for a pair of Xero shoes to review, which one would you recommend?
@@GrownandHealthy ..thanks for the info!! I have the Coaltons, Hana, Daylite hiker, and the z-trek sandals. All of them are very comfortable. The z-trek I can run in and during the not winter's in Wisconsin... I am most if the time in those sandals! The rest of ones I have are more casual wear. I would suggest the prio or terraflex for a more athletic style shoe depending on terrain your in! Thanks!!
@@GrownandHealthy Trail Glove are zero drop shoes... as for the arch support, it's supposed to be just some cushioning more than actual support, but not sure about about that.
Once you develop the right pattern and increase your cadence... you should feel zero pain. Always make sure your mobility isnt the cause of your joint pain.
Once you star wearing this kind of shoe, the walking and running changes in such a way that you start absorbing impacts with soft tissues- muscles and tendons, mainly calves. That's what gets sore first, and lasts untill they adapt. But what also happens, because the whole body works more as a spring to distribute the impacts, the hard hits on landing that we create in cushioned shoes, that cause ankle, knees and back problems dissapear. Because of that soft landing risks of ankle sprains go away and lots of other things.. it's really transformative.
Why can't these companies at least sell one in just solid black? I want to wear these at work. Xero makes some that seem like work shoes, but honestly, in most situations the companies are just over-designing weird patterns and colors... And I don't know why. Did they really find that a mixture of garish neons and polygons sell more shoes? And even if this is true, they usually have three or more colors, so why not make just ONE of those colors a more "conventional" look? Black, dark grey, etc.
Hello I would appreciate it if you could help me. For two years I have only been wearing barefoot joomra shoes (from Amazon), xero..and more. .. I bought Miral Globe 5, it always caused pain in my right foot only, the front pad of the foot...I said maybe there is some problem with the shoe. A week ago I bought the newer Myrl Globe 6 ... and again I feel the same pain which I don't feel in other barfoot shoes Do you know such a phenomenon? I will rejoice in repentance. Thanks!
No, they don't, in fact, no other shoe, I have tested, feels like the Primus Lite. They really hit a sweet spot on that shoe. After wearing The vapor glove 4 long term 6+ months, I find they made a sturdier shoe than the previous model, but the tread pattern is not ideal for running and the fit, while allowing for toe splay, is narrower at the midfoot.
It may not be ideal for long rides, there is not much cushioning between the foot and the pedal..but, if you don't have a problem riding barefoot, this would be fine.
I’m looking at getting these shoes for strictly the gym workouts (deadlift, squats etc) and want a barefoot experience without going barefoot or toe shoes. Would you still say these shoes are the best for the gym if I don’t plan on going outside and trail running?
Thanks for the great review. I’m curious about the weight. You mentioned 4 ounces, while my vapor glove 3 size us 10.5 weigh 190g = 6.7 ounces. If you weigh them side by side is it really that great of an improvement? Cheers!
Thank you for the review. I’m just deciding between vg3 nd vp4 (having one on each foot🤣) so this has helped me a lot to decide which one is the keeper. Thanks! Kisses, k.
I need walk/run minimalist shoes. Main point - it should have a great ventilation. It Vapour lack good ventilation? For me it's most important factor! Should I get them or somewhere else?
Love these (glove 3 in leather) and cannot wear them or many of the minimal shoes with the rubber cap shaped like that. My great toes turn up a bit at the very end and they'd be traumatised by the rubber. However, in regard to the rest of the fit? Heavenly. So sad these didn't work.
@@GrownandHealthy I'd say the Merrell Men's Trail Glove 4 Runner is a pretty darn good looking minimal shoe in my opinion. You should definitely check them out if you haven't already.
Hello. Thank you for a very thorough review. Could you please comment on lateral movement in these shoes? I am concerned that since they seem to be rather loosely fitting, the foot may not be held well by them. It may result in the movement of the foot inside the shoe during lateral moves (like heidens ua-cam.com/video/gJCVWyi3V0c/v-deo.html etc.)
Why are you wearing these shoes with socks? Respect the shoe! Also, I really wish they came with bungee laces. Bow-tied laces look so lame and frumpy, especially on a sleek shoe like this.
@@GrownandHealthy I live Florida, so feeling the breeze is great. But every time it rains they fill with water - no puddle is too shallow - and your feet stay wet all day. Even so, just bought my seventh pair. Lime Punch.

I would suggest the prio or terraflex for a more athletic style shoe depending on terrain your in! Thanks!!
@@genecarrie1359 Thank you for that explanation, I think I will start with the Prio and the TerraFlex.
@@GrownandHealthy Trail Glove are zero drop shoes... as for the arch support, it's supposed to be just some cushioning more than actual support, but not sure about about that.
Well-spoken bro!
Thanks! Thank you for watching.
Do you review the trail glove 5?
No, they are not Minimal shoes.
Is the impact on concrete/road hard on the joints when going on a run?
I couldn't agree more!! I saw a company called Plae, they seem to have basic colors, I hope to have one soon to review.
Can this be used for outdoor jogging?
Hello I would appreciate it if you
could help me. Thanks!

Do they fit similar to the Vivo Barefoot Primus Lite?
No, they don't, in fact, no other shoe, I have tested, feels like the Primus Lite. They really hit a sweet spot on that shoe. After wearing The vapor glove 4 long term 6+ months, I find they made a sturdier shoe than the previous model, but the tread pattern is not ideal for running and the fit, while allowing for toe splay, is narrower at the midfoot.
@@GrownandHealthy Okay thanks for the info!!
Can it be use for biking?
It may not be ideal for long rides, there is not much cushioning between the foot and the pedal..but, if you don't have a problem riding barefoot, this would be fine.
Is it durable for several years?
I haven't had an issue. Much more durable than the Vapor Glove 3 (I like the 3 design better)
@@GrownandHealthy is it made in china?
@@millionairebillionairetril3937 Mine were in Vietnam.
Hello, I need help! :) I have opportunity to buy only 28cm and my actual size is 27 cm. Will it be too big for me? Great video.
They already run slightly larger..socks could help fill space, but if you are using this for intense exercise, (plyometrics, powerlifting) maybe not.
@@GrownandHealthy thanks!
now you just need to learn the quick lacing method
Indeed! I'll practice it.
;)
I’m looking at getting these shoes for strictly the gym workouts (deadlift, squats etc) and want a barefoot experience without going barefoot or toe shoes.
Would you still say these shoes are the best for the gym if I don’t plan on going outside and trail running?
check out "notorious lifter". they're minimal shoes for powerlifting with straps instead of laces and only 40$
Thanks for the great review. I’m curious about the weight. You mentioned 4 ounces, while my vapor glove 3 size us 10.5 weigh 190g = 6.7 ounces. If you weigh them side by side is it really that great of an improvement? Cheers!
Thanks for your kind words. The weight difference is imperceptible.
How do these compare with the previous version? (Vapor glove 3). Read a lot of reviews that the material on the upper broke apart after a month or so.
Since I filmed this review, I havent experienced the tearing yet.
do you have a=an ig page i wanted to dm you a question
@grownandhealthy
Thank you for the review. I’m just deciding between vg3 nd vp4 (having one on each foot🤣) so this has helped me a lot to decide which one is the keeper. Thanks! Kisses, k.
Anytime!!
The big disappointment is the ventilation or the lack of it. My feet are boiling and wet after a few minutes walk.
I can understand that, but they had to develop a tighter weave to avoid the unraveling of the fabric of the upper, like the Vapor Glove 3's
Sorry to hear that. Xero and Vivobarefoot are great alternatives. And when the weather is warm, I prefer minimal sandals.
The performance of the shoe is there but I really don't like the look of them.
These designs are a hit or miss for most people...which minimal shoe design do you like the best?
@@GrownandHealthy I'd say the Merrell Men's Trail Glove 4 Runner is a pretty darn good looking minimal shoe in my opinion. You should definitely check them out if you haven't already.
Hello. Thank you for a very thorough review. Could you please comment on lateral movement in these shoes? I am concerned that since they seem to be rather loosely fitting, the foot may not be held well by them. It may result in the movement of the foot inside the shoe during lateral moves (like heidens ua-cam.com/video/gJCVWyi3V0c/v-deo.html etc.)
These aren't my favorite for lateral movements, for that I would prefer the Vibram KSO EVO's
Great video
Though, the b-roll could be better, and maybe more of it.
Trail running shoe you're reviewing and they're perfectly clean? c'mon man.
Um... We should move a bit better than how we were born by now.
We should... But I am still learning.
Why are you wearing these shoes with socks? Respect the shoe! Also, I really wish they came with bungee laces. Bow-tied laces look so lame and frumpy, especially on a sleek shoe like this.
I agree, usually wear them without socks, but it was still winter and the woven upper of these shoes allow for a lot of breeze (good and bad).
@@GrownandHealthy I live Florida, so feeling the breeze is great. But every time it rains they fill with water - no puddle is too shallow - and your feet stay wet all day. Even so, just bought my seventh pair. Lime Punch.
Bro isn’t this a water shoe? And why would someone trail run in this shoe if it’s a water shoe?? Hence the name Vapor…..not tryin to sound sarcastic.
Wider than vapor glove 3?
