I would go with car hart bibs and some sort of boot. Thanks for wearing safety glasses while grinding some channels like the cowboy approach but that leads to eye injury and drilling metal out of your eye. And thank you for making this channel my daughter who is fourteen watches with me and that makes it fun. Plus now she knows she can do this too. Anyway keep up the good work you two and stay safe.

This channel is getting better with each video! PS, the Powerstop break in is very important like you said. Otherwise they will make noise forever, it’s nice to see that they finally put that in the instructions on the box. Years ago they didn’t mention it to people
Great video Cassie, As a welder I have to say that your mig skills are excellent. When you can hear that bacon frying it means that the machine is dialed in and your getting a good weld in there. You need to tell Ben you need a plasma cutter next, that will save you a bunch of cutting with that big grinder. I'll be doing the Powerstop brake upgrade on my jeep next. Thanks for the tips, Keep jeeping classy Cassie!
Thank you! We were just talking about getting a plasma cutter the other day, might have to go for it and get one. You won’t be disappointed by the PowerStop brakes, they are fantastic!
Cassie/ Ben PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put on a full face shield and heavy gloves when using that big cutoff (@ 3:14) wheel and grinder. That blade breaks @ 5k+ RPM has the potential to cause some serious injury or worse. Really enjoying watching your build progress. I have an LJ and a TJ myself. Stay safe out there.
I am loving the tandem crocs y’all have going on. That’s how to build strong families, make sure everyone has at least 2 pair of crocs. I love y’all’s videos. Looking forward to the next one.
The jackstands on the frame were just still there for safety. But yes, you don’t want to tighten everything down when the suspension isn’t at ride height.
@@JeepGearGadgets Ride height, that's what I meant, gosh I'm getting old! Sorry to sound like a nitpicker -- just found your channel and am so exited, you two make a great wrench turning team, your wonderful smile and easy going demeanor are infectious...hmm, bad timing for that word..thank you for sharing your videos with us all!
Great job on all the work in the front axle swap! Killin it! Also great to see you getting after it, grinding and welding! I’m excited to see the final stance with the rear axle swap complete and on the trail! Keep it up!
I run JKU shocks on my TJ rear and they soak up the bumps so much better...a little stiff on the recoil but I love them and not going back to a lighter shock...Keep is Classy and LOVE the welding in crocs...yall take care.
Just FYI, it'd be a good idea to add some vertical material to the coil mounts on the frame. Flat plate bends easy, but if you were to do a piece either on the top or bottom that added to it vertically, (flat stock bent to shape and welded) it would help a LOT for support.
wow! i'm kinda floored at how 'easy' that swap was! GREAT JOB!! oh, and i LOVE the look of ben's current coveralls on ya - don't change a thing! (i'm now in the market for getting coveralls myself b/c of this video...)
Very cool video. Great lookin' rig ya got there! FYI - New rotors should be cleaned with brake cleaner to get any of the anti-rust coating off. All ceramic brake pads should be broken in like the PowerStop instructions say. Been working on Jeeps for near 40 years and PowerStop was the first I've ever seen put the proper break-in procedure on the box.
@@JeepGearGadgets lol i know haha. Id love it if you n Ben follow my youtube. I also started a Jeep Group in CT and we have 1200 members. Check out jeeponct on FB and UA-cam. Thanks! Lets all wheel sometime!
The PowerStop pads work well, however next time skip the drilled and slotted rotors. The heat reduction some people associate with drilled and slotted rotors is actually false, the less material (mass) in the rotor, the less it will dissipate heat. Drilled and slotted are also give you weak areas in the rotor geometry, which have been found to be prone to cracking. They were developed to release the gasses that pads of the past would produce, to keep the pad in contact with the rotor surface instead of hovering over a layer of gas. However modern pad compounds don't off gas as pads of the past did. The only benefit to drilled and slotted rotors today, are static and dynamic weight savings.
I haven't read the previous comments, so not sure if already mentioned... be careful that the JK shocks arent too long... don't want to end up using the brake lines as limiting straps or damage the front drive line with too much droop, etc.
Cassie & Ben... I'm new to your channel, and new to Jeeps. I just recently bought my first Jeep, a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon. And while searching for Gladiator videos, I stumbled upon yall's channels. I just put a 2.5"/1.0" Skyjacker lift on it, and my 37x13.50r20 Kumho RV KL71 tires, and 20x10 Moto Metal wheels (I like a little "show" with my "go". 😏) came in today. Along with my Fab Fours Stubby front bumper, and my old trusty Warn 9.5XP that I've had BNIB for about 15 years just waiting for a new home. I'll be installing most of the stuff tomorrow if I'm off work due to rain. I haven't been this excited about a project in a long time. 👍🏻 I am not new to the offroad game, but it has been a number of years since my last build...And I still have several half-complete projects laying around (money got tight for a number of years). One tool that I would highly recommend for doing modifications like this... A Hypertherm plasma cutter. It will save your ears and your arms from using that grinder so much. 👍🏻
Great team video guys I'm really enjoying the content and the way you guys help each other out. Team Cassie & Ben must own Crocks for: Evening wear, welding, axle swapping, mowing haha... Best practice is final tightening suspension control arm links while vehicle is compression parts with its own weight, not on jacks.
The axle was on jackstands. Suspension was loaded with the weight of the body and frame. Same thing as having the tires on
The jackstands on the frame were just still there for safety.
But yes, you don’t want to tighten everything down when the suspension isn’t at ride height.
