UPDATE: My thumbnail confused people into getting the wrong idea on my stance here so the video will be public to give people the chance to actually know my stance. Bit of a mess on my part, sorry about that.
The thumbnail was a bit misleading, but being a subscriber since a while at least I just needed the first 20 seconds to understand the real meaning lol. I'm not on twitter anymore, so I did not know people actually...said those things about such a wholesome scene, but this was the right reaction to that situation- _no representation is better than "forced representation"_ I mean, yea, if it's full of stereotypes, yes (cough, the sia movie, cough), but this isn't that.
om not subbed or anything but did the thumbnail get changed? cuz if someone doesn't realized you're confused about why this is being called bad rep when you have 8 whole question marks in the thumbnail and the content of the vid is very clear on your stance they clearly weren't paying attention and wanted to be mean
To anyone going 'oh it would've been just as an impactful as a hearing/not mute child!' ...you're missing the entire point of the scene. Fizz was stressed out because the fans were all yelling at him for attention. But just seeing one kid desperate to get his attention while not yelling or touching him, it made him feel more relaxed. People just *love* to criticise everything nowadays.
My favorite thing about the argument of "it would have been jus as. . . " is that its just an admission of being incompetently immoral. If nothing changes, then they have nothing to complain about.
And Fizz themselves is disabled, i think it's supposed to be him seeing himself in the kid so he wants to be the good pure role model he would've wanted back when he was young n stuf
As a disabled individual, (autistic) seeing that small interaction was genuinely heartwarming. Like, we rarely get good, let alone great disabled rep like Fizz, but to then get some disabled solidarity was just the cherry atop an already amazing episode for me. Like, the fact that the show lets Fizz angst over his disability, lets him feel like crap about it and then responds with genuine love from Ozzie is just insane. No attempts to fix him, no patronizing bs to make the able bodied folk feel like they've done a service to us. Ozzie loves him the way he is, and that won't change. X3
Hi! I’m also autistic! That 1 scene with the deaf kid is actually what made me binge this show in 2 days lol! It’s so heartwarming and I absolutely love it! Also I really hope to find someone who will love me like Ozzie loves Fizz! Flaws, disability, and all!
I'm literally half-deaf and will likely be completely deaf in the near future, so I think I get a say in this, but the deaf kid wasn't even bad representation? It wasn't disrespectful or inaccurate and disabled characters don't need a reason to be there. Disabled people exist. We don't need a reason to exist so why do fictional characters need a reason to be there? As long as it's respectful it is just fine.
i hate that many people think characters _need_ a reason to: be disabled, have mental disorders, be LGBTQ, etc. their only reason, like real life people, is that they exist and just happen to have such qualities lol
@@paradoxtatorstudios9681 the only ones are mental illnesses caused by past trauma, because it can explain the character's personality and behavior. Now, deaf, blind, disabled, etc? It can just happen like being born like that.
I hate how anyone will call anything "bad representation". Like, if someone will call a scene like this "bad representation", then you've probably never witnessed ACTUAL bad rep. Either that, or they just despise Vivzie and all her work. If you're going to criticize Helluva Boss, there are many criticisms to be made, but this isn't one of them.
There is always unreasonable people in any fandom. As someone who writes fanfics with many readers, I love going into new fandoms. In my 20+ years of life I've seen enough crazy people to realize that there is always going to be someone who tries to find THE LITTLEST reason to trash the creator. Especially Vivz. There are so much toxic people in her story of creation that it reminds me of MHA fandom ://)
@CherishedFox-mc9hs ho honestly, at least they do have major differences. Usually as they grow older they start to look different from one another. You can definitely see who is Glitz and who is Glam, they don't look so similar that you would sit there trying to understand which one is which. Especially in face details
I don't like this idea that there HAS to be a reason behind the inclusion of a deaf or mute character in a show just bcuz Viv is disliked by the general internet. Disabled people aren't tokens for brownie points and their inclusion should be normalized, regardless of anyones thoughts on the creator. I was happy to see sign language in the show ! And I think having Fizz, a disabled character, be the one to use it is actually really nice. Gives a lot of depth for his character and how he feels about being a role model to other hell citizens.
I think many over look the the denizens of hell can have kids and much like our own kids not all of them are "normal". I loved seeing that the deaf child wasn't discriminated against and that Fiz was able to communicate with them as it felt so heartwarming. Like you said there should never have to be a reason for a particular character to be in a show. We should appreciate the time and effort creators put into their work to properly represent diversity and not just gloss over it.
Also, really funny these people are complaining about this 'representation' when, the entire show is mostly filled with characters in the LGBQ stratum. They're all mostly bi, pan and no one's complaining about that.... Really stupid that they are dissing this wholesome moment, especially when most haven't even properly watched the show. btw , viv didn't do anything wrong, the accusations against her fall apart, people be stupid.
@@cordleil2747 I also believe they have trans background characters (u can tell by horns) you can see a couple in the Beelzebub episode. There’s a lot of rep in helluva boss
I thought it was an interesting idea since it was something that got Fizz's attention. Basically he was surrounded by a very loud crowd of fans all yelling/screaming to congratulate him or get his attention, but Fizz is not comfortable being there and is mostly tuning them out. Then he spots a small kid (his ideal audience) that signs his support to Fizz, it's a unique method amongst the horde that makes Fizz feel more relaxed and happy to interact with his ideal fan.
My guess on why fizzarolli may sign language is because in the fire, he may have had his vocal cords damaged. Now they've been repaired, and he now has a little bit of a croaky voice now days. Oh wow I never had this many likes and comment's before, thanks everyone.
That is exactly why! His vocal cords got severely damaged due to the explosion and the smoke, it's why he sounds like Beetlejuice now, It makes sense he learned some basic sign language to learn how to speak again.
The funny thing about this, is that deaf people aren't the ones complaining, it's just Vivzie's general haters, deaf people are actually praising this episode, saying that the representation was absolutely amazing & that the sign language was extremely accurate Especially for Fizz' name as according to peeps in the episode's comments, the sign for a person's name is the first letter of their name, and something they really like, so the kid used the signs for "F" and "Clown"
As someone who takes ASL as a class for a second year, we fingerspell names and deaf people are the ones who give sign names, it's not really a rite of passing or anything, think of it like giving a nickname. You wouldn't give a nickname to yourself, right? Other people give you that idea.
also as someone who is in their 3rd year if asl. I agree with what the other person said. signed names are given to people by deaf people. they aren't handed out and have meaning to them. I don't understand why the letter F was the sign for mustache. buts it's okay
It's one of those cases of the actual people being represented and having something to say (here they're saying it's good) and white able-bodied people are just talking over them like dudes shut up it's not for you 😅😭
they're so obsessed it's insane. you'd think it'd make them happier to just watch shit they do like instead of putting their energy into forcing themselves to hate everything a queer female animator puts out
@@CHAOTIC_PANCAKEZ people used to support and love viv during her speedrun art days and now that she reached her dreams, people be attacking and praying her downfall
That creep that harassed Fizz is representing all the haters, entitled fans, critics, hater watchers all into one. And if they feel offended by that guy, then I think they should look in the mirror.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. There are some good criticisms that people have for the show but all that is drowned out by bad faith, criticism, and evil just want to find something to complain about because they don’t like Viv.
To be fair, I think it was actually 'Ironic' that the time Fizz had with the little boy was cut because of Creepo. Because thats just what is happening now on Twitter. People are just yelling about that one cute scene and trying to ruin it just like he did.
I find the sign language part so adorable its so cute and wholesome as someone who has bad vision (wear glasses) and have asthma seeing stuff like this is wholesome(tho I can't speak for others)
To be frank, as someone who does think there is forced representation in some media (and some that I've shown and explained in some of my past videos), this example... Wasn't really it. Normally when forced representation is used, it's more or less done to use the characters as a means of spreading a message of sorts or as a megaphone, to the point where they don't actually act like characters but are mouthpieces and detract from the story. At least that's how I view it at times. A deaf kid (who may or may not have broken horns as well) talking to Fizz through sign language doesn't really fit that in my book, at all. It's a cute moment in and of itself, and plays to the theme that Helluva boss has going for it that demons, while doing bad things, have a more soft side to them (essentially, they act like humans - They're good, they're bad, and they can feel emotions, which is kind of the point of the show). Don't get me wrong, there are morons who do misuse the 'bad representation' argument, that is a fact. I don't mind the inclusion of any type of character, so long as they're written well. Helluva boss does have issues with it's story and such, but representation isn't one of them.
It wasn't forced at all, I agree. Was it a predictable set up and payoff once the kid showed up? Yeah. But so what? Not every interaction needs a 20 page thesis on its inclusion. It made sense for the character of Fizz, who is himself a disabled person with prosthetics, and someone who had been implied to have hidden depths. And also, sometimes you just meet disabled people and can interact with them.
It also had an affect on Fizz as he was in a bad mental state and that kid helped remind him not only of himself when he was recovering the injuries of becoming disabled, as his voice box was damaged as well as how he has prosthetics. That he became a clown because it made people happy and look up to him. It wasn't one of the many horny fans.... but a genuine fan. One that helped him fight on just that bit more in a time or moment he really needed. It told us just how much those injuries affected him. WHY he felt SO IN DEBT to Mammon. It tied into EVERYTHING and wasn't just out of the blue representation.
@@PestilentAllosaurus can you please explain your point of view on this thing of his scar affecting him or him feeling in debt to mammon? I’m just curious that’s all.😅
@federicam4793 It's outright stated/shown by Fiz. The panic/paranoia when the scar shows. Him saying during his panic episode how he needs to keep working for mammon because in his eyes, it's how he got where he is.
@@SnaxMang so you mean that for him mammon is the one who helped him fight in a moment of need, and that’s why he he wants to repay him for it, despite all the mistreatment….
As a disabled person, I do not fucking care what the motivation of adding the scene was, I burst into tears the second I saw that sign. I already love fizz as a disabled character so having him interact with a disabled kid who also has broken horns meant the absolute world to me. I'm going to be eternally grateful to this show for this. No one can stop me. Able bodied people who want to play savior can bite me.
Yeah fr people act like someone with a visible disability is either someone to stop and gawk at or avoid all eye contact with. Disabled people just exist. Why not portray that in media, like HB did? If it’s good representation like this who gives a shit if they’re just ‘virtue signalling’
the same people who bitch about this also bitch about the includsion of hailey cooper from both miles morales and marvels spider man 2 being deaf they dont care about the inclusion, that care that the inclusion doesnt look like or sound like them
I hate forced representation more than anything else but this wasn't it. It was just thrown in there, they didn't justify it they didn't do it as a main plot point. They also didn't scream about it or put it on the front. It was done right because it was just shown as something normal and natural. The disability was not a plot device and no one advertised it to win diversity points. It made me want to learn sign language more than I already wanted to.
But do you like even the show? Every character is gay or Bi, that makes it automatically a bad representation because only a really small amount of people is gay or bi.
@@goodbro2046 It is literally the show about hell where sinners who live there look like furries so I would not go there to look for a replica of the real world. It supposed to be exagerrated and it definitely isn't bad representation as it is just like (or even better than some) hetero relationship in media. They don't make stereotypical over the top gay characters and they don't need to tell the character is gay or market it that way. They don't put it in your face and tell you to like it because it is diverse they don't even use words gay or bi in the show. They build the relationships and portray how they progress (show their highs and lows) in the show and don't just put them there to show how progressive they are. They work for representation instead of counting on representation working for them.
@@goodbro2046 Gay people aren’t allowed in heaven. Of course over half of the cast is lgbtq+- this is actually one of the few times the “it’s hell, this is normal” argument actually works.
as a disabled person myself i find it funny people will try and claim disability representation in media is "forced diversity" or "woke" when the "forced diversity" in question is just,,, a disabled person existing on screen lmao. like how dare we exist in a space where they can see! (same for any character from a marginalized group) anyways i personally really liked the scene. it was cute. i remember in the previous episode fizz saying that he "isn't broken" which really made me feel seen. being disabled doesn't make someone less of a person. it's nice to see a character whose disability isn't constantly portrayed as a tragedy or an obstacle and has a fulfilling life
After seeing the recent episode, I honestly have a feeling that Fizz represents Viv and the “crazy obsessed redditor fan/hater” represents well…that side of her fandom.
For a lot of people who claim pieces of media being “forced diversity” and “woke” they’ll call any like that either of those simply because a certain type of person exists. Like a friend of mine (I plan to cut ties with him because he’s very bigoted) was criticizing the animated Harley Quinn show not because of the story, writing, animation, characters, or anything like that but saw it as “pushing the gay agenda” and I’m like “Dude. That’s not criticism.” Like they’ll call anything woke for showing that gay people existing as if gay people are some fake people that only exist in media that everyone is trying to copy even though gay people existing is as normal as sand in the desert. I’m sorry if that got messy in the middle. What I’m trying to say is I agree with you.
That’s just a roundabout way that someone tries to convince themselves that “I’m such a good virtuous person because I think disabled people can do no wrong”. Which is just detrimental because they’re only perpetuating yet another untrue stereotype. There are shitty abled and disabled people because they’re all, well, people. In the end, they’re really just trying to avoid having to see differently abled people in their media. 🙃
I feel like bad queers (I mean like harmful people but not harmful representation) should be shown more. While it's true there are a lot of good people in the alphabet Mafia, more so than cishet people, I don't think it damages reputation on queers since their issues don't really lay onto their issue as being queer. (Why I'm focusing on queer representation is because that's 90% of it) But it's also good and more relatable to show messy relationships and lives that are just as hard to maintain as the "standard" person.
Not only is that a shitty philosophy in general...this entire episode was about how Fizz himself is a way better person than what Mammon wants him to be and he thinks that him being made a sex symbol is cringe as fuck. This isn't even a villainous queer, it's about a queer working up the bravery to quit his job under a villain.
It’s such a stupid argument lol. I’ve met shitty queer people. I’ve met toxic disabled people. Almost every label a person can identify themselves as has a crappy subsection. Am I supposed to be pissed off as an Australian because Mammon has an Aussie accent and is a dick?
The scene was meant to show that Fizzarolli was still the same down-to-earth person he was as a kid, despite the fame under his belt. He's a physically disabled and disfigured imp himself, so the fact he quickly recognized and commiserated with a kid afflicted with deafness and a similar set of broken horns, then chose to take the time to show affection for the lad with an autograph and kind set of words, helps paint him as having a heart of gold alongside all the glitz and glamor he was in the middle of fighting to uphold.
This deaf kid is a hellborn Imp, no a SINNER. Those critics just show, that they don‘t know about the Viz hell lore. They represent the toxic fan from this episode very well.
and I mean even if there's a disable sinner that shouldn't be a problem! like people should stop put disable people on a pedestal they're still human so they still can be bad people
@@tooru-kun4178right , even disabled and a person that is a part of a minority group can be a bad person, I don't know why people make them like angels that can do no wrong , I don't hate these groups, it's just a reality that no human is perfect and that even a person who have cancer for example can be an asshole and a horrible person, humans are what you call morally gray and they have the ability to choose between being a good person or a bad person despite their circumstances.
The fact that simply having a sweet scene between Fizz and the deaf imp kid is enough to piss off Twitter really convinced me that people online love being angry at things
For real! I've seen people complaining that there's too much violence and sex jokes and that it being in hell doesn't justify it, but then I see people complaining that there's healthy couples and wholesome scenes cause if it's in hell there shouldn't be any of this...
Im really convinced that the hatedom behind Vivziepop can't even pinpoint what they hate about her, This scene.. was really sweet, and it shows what kind of character Fizzaroli is when the chips are down. Great video btw^^
isn't it weird how people's endless stream of hate for helluva boss' writing is always at her and never her male co writer brandon rogers? smth to think about lol. maybe they secretly do just hate to see queer women succeeding
@@colorbar.sI mentioned this in a Sarastic Chorus video but yes, they absolutely do hate to see a woman succeeding. Brandon doesn’t deserve hate but he’s done way worse stuff in his own videos than the stuff Viv gets constantly ragged on for. You see it in pretty much any piece of media, people are way more forgiving of male artists than they are of female artists.
There's people who do hate viv for the smallest things, but then there's people who give actual criticism because they want their favorite show to be actually good, but die hard fans will double down on any criticism untill a critical fan becomes a hater
@@fartsmella9267 However, a lot of people assume that because they give criticism, it SHOULD be accepted and implemented. Some good criticism won't actually work with the direction the creator wants to take, and the fans don't know what plans the creator holds because they don't have insight into the internal work. Then this is often made into a hate wagon about the creator "not listening to constructive criticism" when that may not be the case. The creator has the right to write what they want and accept criticism that will work with their style and vision, and frankly, their work will draw a crowd that will enjoy the same things because entertainment is subjective. There is no objective way to write entertainment, and it shouldn't ruled by unwritten rules made up by the Internet. Both sides need to accept that the show is not going to meet everyone's expectations - that is IMPOSSIBLE. It should be instead a balanced creation, and I think that in the end, what matters the most is that people find entertainment in the show in their own ways. The fact that so many people enjoy Helluva Boss says enough, and if I was Viv, I wouldn't be changing what works. Maybe only add small tweaks.
Well if you honestly think about it, The twins were going for sex appeal. It's actually a lyric in their song that they want to sell their bodies to the masses. Considering fizz is being sold as every possible sexy toy imaginable and it's stated mammon not only suggested that, But has gone further away from being a clown to just greed, It's actually not too shocking why the twins were finalists. Twins can be fetishized a lot and I think that was viv's idea with how the twins are shown and act. Hell they don't even seem to like each other very much unless their working/ performing. Honestly Mammon's competition seems to have gone from 'clowning' to performance and a lot of companies/ stuff of that nature does seem to branch out into a broad term like that if the owner/s loose touch with the actual niche they started with.
There’s also the added layer of the fact that they didnt really do anything traditionally “clown-like”. Clowns, in general, is a type of performer but acting like a music star performer is different than say, a magician performer. When they went up, they flashed the audience, sang a catchy pop song, and basically just showed off. When Fizzy went on, he was balancing on balls, trapezes, fires on a stick, etc. Things that people more commonly associate with clown performances. But that kind of nuance is kinda lost on the audience who just wants whatever is cool or more attractive which is what sells well.
@@DanielaHPerez Yep! Granted we don't know the exact time he stopped but, I think it's pretty much implied it's been a WHILE. Hell the twins technically did win because of fizz forfeiting and quitting so i'm a bit interested to see how that will play out as the show goes on.
@@enderwalkgang I have! and I really enjoy the shows premise and how it depicts hell. The expectations the sins and the other demons face from day to day is pretty realistic and I enjoy the obvious passion in each episode. From the animation, to the story telling, It's come a long way since it's pilot and honestly I never expected it to turn into what it is today, I used to watch viv back when she did solely speed paints for crying out loud, She's a real inspiration for artists and animators who want to pursue their art in anyway.
The reason the clown twins were able to enter was because, as fizz or ozzie (i dont really remeber) mentioned, mammon doesn't do clown stuff anymore, hes just looking for stuff that brings in money.
Personally I think him speaking sign makes perfect sense. His voice is hoarse indicating perhaps at some point he lost it and had to get it back. In the mean time he'd have to learn how to speak somehow. It's immensely touching beautiful and purposeful when it comes to characterizing Fizz. A perfect scene.
it's also good to show that while there are ravenous/entitled fucks for fans there is still those genuine fans the ones that content creators who are passionate about their work do it for; to put a smile on their face and brighten their day and their own in turn I know that they're fictional and all but, I still hope that kid wasn't too broken up about Fizz leaving
I don't think he was because Fizz got meet him and giving him some meaningful inspiration as well as sign his autograph. Also Mammon is a dick and people can see that so I'm sure the kid understands.
I got so distrated an dlikes to divagate on thing so commented before the video started an d now she is about to end while I alredy sended the comment lol. But I would also like to see what people who also did not watch shit but yet defend blindly viv or the show have to say
To me, that scene was just super important to me. Just cause it was important to Fizz. Cus that's what makes his job worthwhile. Not the fame, money, fans or sex dolls. It's about inspiring others just like him I'm glad that scene exists. Just to shows what he's doing this for and that he actually Does like parts of his job
I'm just gonna make a wild guess and say that the imp kid is mute, not deaf. Cuz here's the thing. When Fizz was being heckled at the meet-n-greet. The kid had an immediate reaction to it, almost like he heard it clear as day. While Fizz, someone with relatively fine hearing , had to ask the heckler to repeat what they said. And being a clown isn't just visual gags, it can also include other aspects of entertainment. Fizz's strong suit when it comes to entertainment seems to be singing, both in this episode and back in Oops. Which leads me to assume that most of shows at some point had him start singing. So I'm thinking that with the aforementioned heckling. A long with the fact that the kid was standing somewhere close to the stage. That the kid could be mute. But if he is deaf. There's a small possibility that he still could've heard, at the very least, some of Fizz's song. It might not completely the case though, since not all deaf people are the same. Some being able to hear with the help of hearing aids or partial hearing, and others not being able to hear at all. But idk, just thought that it might be worth mentioning.
There are headcanons/theories about the broken horn having a connection with hearing loss. So maybe the kid is partially deaf?(it's just one horn broken, right?)
A quote I saw on tumblr I really like is "it's not forced diversity, people just exist". It was adding onto a post criticizing forced diversity by pointing out how many diverse people they know IRL that would be considered forced and overdramatic diversity if they were in a show. I can't find the post, but if I do I'll add it here:
I think people are just finding excuses to diss vizz. The representation was amazing, heartwarming and perfect, the fact that people are still trying to find ways to make it “bad” is beyond me.
As someone who’s hard-of-hearing, seeing that kid AND seeing Fizz knowing ASL made me smile SO much. It drives me nuts that I know so little ASL, but very few schools actually have ASL classes. So many deaf people are cut off from being able to effectively communicate with the rest of the world due to this language barrier. Not only that, those of us that are hard-of-hearing have a much harder time finding a place to teach us so that we can learn BEFORE we go deaf.
I think the reason why the clown show lacked a lot of actual "clowning" is because Mammon was focusing on creating something that's popular and will create revenue, not staying true to the what being a clown is for the sake of profit. With him favoring the twins, I think that's Mammon wanting to go for a "s*x sells" strategy, which becomes even more obvious when you listen to Glitz and Glam's song.
the whole point is that mammon doesnt care about clowns, he never did, the whole point of his talent show is to sus out what the people would spend money on honestly and its kinda gross, but the stalker fan kinda called it right that cause of mammon fizz didnt do as much clowning as he likely did in his youth the whole point of mammon is corporate greed
I’m sure that there are people who just want to complain for the sake of complaining. And I liked that scene, as we need more positive representation, and it showed that Fizz has fans who’ll love him and his work unconditionally.
This szene also had a narrative purpose, as someone else pointed out. In this stressful and hyper episode this szene was quiet and allowed the stressing out character (and the audience) to take a breather. Reminding the stressed character why he is doing this in the first place. For people similar or like him. Someone made a good point that the character (I cant spell his name, spare me) probably knows sign language because he needed it after his very traumatic injury.
I was tearing up in joy when I saw that scene with kid. Actually, why do people think he's deaf just because he's using sign language? He might just be a nonspeaking person who can actually hear. The kid was just there, enjoying himself like everyone else did, and got to meet his idol. They both happen to be disabled. "Oh no, disabled people are out in public! The world is ending!" This is the least forced inclusion I have ever seen in my entire autistic life. The haters are probably angry because they see themselves in that creep, just like you said! Being offended by us existing is true snowflake behavior, which sounds kinda fascist. "Why do someone like you exist?" No self-reflection. Great video! Also, people probably have said this before, but the pastel palette of your avatar reminds me so much of Pearl from Steven Universe! Sorry if I repeated something a lot of people have done in the past. I just love pastel colors! 😍
To be totally honest, I didn't even come to the conclusion that the child was deaf, I had actually thought they were mute and couldn't talk at all hence sign language on my first viewing. The fact that Twitter(I refuse to call it anything else besides a hell on earth) has spawned such drama just confirms that the platform is just bad for the human race. Which kinda makes me glad that I don't use Twitter, because I don't have to scroll through that general mess
It’s easier to harass people for trying to do good than it is to call out people who are actually causing harm. It’s something I’ve been more aware of recently, a certain percentage of internet dwellers don’t actually care if the representation is good or not, they want to tear apart the person they don’t like and if we get less representation as a result then so be it. M.Night Shaymalan doesn’t care that Split was a bad representation of DID, therefore they won’t get a reaction from him the way they could from the Spindlehorse team who actually do care.
If using deaf representation is virtue signalling, I think the Helluva team deserves to have it for paying people to write accurate and accessible subtitles on all of their episodes for hard of hearing viewers. I think if anything rubs me the wrong way, it's the implication that disability is inherently inspirational. While that still stands, I somewhat like the way that the show handled it, Fizz knowing asl is a really nice character detail and shows a method to how you can properly support disabled individuals (listening to them and acknowledging them was the example shown in the show), (although yeah, not everybody has taken the time to learn ASL or had needed to learn it). The "what has a deaf child done to be sent to hell" comment shocked me. Just no. Disability, like I mentioned and many others know, does not immediately vindicate somebody, and while it seems like a nice sentiment it creates negative implications and assumptions. I don't know why I typed this comment out, I hope and I assume everyone watching this video understood this, or at least understood the parts I got right. Mammon is my favourite character
The worst part about the "what did a child do to be sent to hell" comment is that this particular child wasn't sent to hell. He's an imp, born in hell. This is his home. The number of people watching this show simply to hate it is astonishingly high.
I didn’t even know that a 30 second insert with a disabled child would be made into such a mess. I really liked how the show handled its representation: it didn't focus on the boy, which means HE'S THE SAME BOY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. The situation simply allowed us to understand the world of the show a little better and, especially, Fizz as a character. Fizz's disability was also well portrayed; as a disabled person with limited mobility, I have nothing against such representation. On the contrary, I’m glad that they are talking about it, and not for fake inclusivity. Maybe let disabled people themselves decide what is good representation and what is not?
Okay, I have my own complicated relationship with that show but the inclusion of characters who are nonverbal never fails to make my heart all warm and fuzzy, AND IT'S A SMALL CHILD THAT DOES SIGN LANGUAGE AND HIS IDOL KNOWS HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH IT BACK TO HIM? I swear some people on twitter just want something to be mad about when it comes to Vivzie, yeah you can have your own opinion and dislike something for multiple different reasons, but you could still be respectful and just ignore the feed but If you're actively looking for something false and twist something that is generally pretty harmless to fuel your spite then please with all due respect, keep it in the discord group.
What's next angry mob?! Twisted Wonderland just added a nonverbal character who's on the side of the new event's antagonist are they gonna say that's disingenuous too?
Dude the deaf kid was a high point in an episode full of high points. I damn near cried. Fuck anyone who has any problems with this. End of conversation, you are wrong if you disagree.
as a member of a marginalized community, it's always refreshing to see harmless representation that isn't made to be such a big deal. in MLP:FIM there was a character in later episodes with the equivalent of a wheelchair/walker. They didn't make the whole episode about the character's disability they just accepted that this is how it is. It wasn't a big deal, it didn't make it weird, it's normal it happens. Same with the hearing impaired. Since the disability wasn't the focus of the episode does it mean that people can't just live life the way they are? Not every little bit of representation needs to be a big deal. This is normal. I don't want to be known exclusively for my disability, so the normalization is so refreshing.
I agree, the only good representation is when it isn't the focus of the episode, but just random. That's the reason the moxxie episode with his dad was so bad. Okay season 2 in general is worse than the first one.
I think this moment is important to show how Fizz genuinely cares about his fans by learning sign language for his non-verbal fans. It also shows imps with disabilities have a great roll model. 😊
I was honestly very baffled that people were trying to make this very wholesome scene out to be something way worse, all because an imp child who is deaf and uses sign language to communicate with Fizz. But then again what else did I expect from Twitter of all places?
OKAY FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT! I love the twins and i'm happy we got to see more envy ring imps, but Glitz and Glam aren't clowns. If anything I think they would be considered acrobats with popstar stage presence.
I think that's the point, Mammon only cares about money, so if the twins are the ones the public is liking the most, therefore giving him more money, he'll have them be the next main stars (which most definitely happened since Fizz quit), even tho they're more like pop singers than clowns
@@kawaiiemolga that is kinda what i was thinking, Mammon moreso caring about what will get him more money even if its not his usual clown trademark. In other words since clowns were trendy, he'll move on to whatever becomes more trendy.
I talked to my friend about it, and Fizz knowing sign makes perfect sense. Considering how he was right in front if the blast, its guaranteed that his hearing would've been effected, so learning sign language makes perfect sense. I also saw people say how his vocal cords were effected, which again, completely true!
As someone who is currently taking ASL in highschool for a second year, I can give more insight into deaf culture since that is a frequent subject in my classes. This is a huge W in terms of representation for the Deaf (deaf is the "disability" while Deaf is the community. Now all deaf are in the Deaf community.) The Deaf have been very adamant about the fact that hearing people judge them, think they're underdeveloped and dumb which is frankly not true. One belief stands really strong though, that deaf people can do anything except hear. Yes, that includes composing and/or playing an instrument. When Fizz signed "You can do anything you want" (pretty sure that was it?) That had an extra layer of context other than a disabled idol encouraging a fellow disabled person. Sure, in any opressed group there's a "we can do anything" especially is people labeled as disabled. The Deaf is a hell of an example that I can't do proper justice with my words alone, let alone a comment over the internet. Also! Why I put disabled in quotations is because the Deaf don't consider themselves as such! Hell, there's even a term called "deaf gain" to replace the term "hearing loss" There's also, if you want to look into it, a long an terrifying history wih deaf people during the Holocaust, it's something I really want to put out there as it's little known. One last thing! Of course I'm still learning the language but I'm sure the ASL was correct. That or it's FSL (where ASL came from) because the grammar is really difficult for me.
@@sharktenko267 Yeah, it's a fun class! I was personally not too passionate about taking either of the classic languages held at school (Spanish and French) so I took it. Glad I did.
I am not deaf at all, and I don’t know sign language. I cry every fucking time u watch that scene. I can’t handle how wholesome it is. Can we PLEASE LEAVE THE WHOLESOME SCENE ALONE!?!
honestly this ep was the best one out of all of helluva boss, mostly because it fleshed out ozzie and fizz so much and in such a good way i also showed my roommate (hearing, but nearly fluent in sign language bc of years of learning and dedication) and she was ecstatic about the signs Actually being right - she explained what the direct translations were to me and we talked about how it was really sweet that fizz's sign name was the sign for clown this was one ep that didn't feel scattered or bogged down in any way, and it was really refreshing to watch (esp given that fizz's insecurities are very similar to mine and hes a character i relate to in a lot of ways - im not outwardly physically disabled but the internalized expectations and pressures hit so close to home lol)
As someone thats hard of hearing i liked it personally. It was a small detail but meant a lot, even made me cry. I feel that too many people that aren't deaf or hard of hearing are commenting on an issue that isn't theirs to speak on when they jump to hate it so quickly. Disabled people are allowed to exist
always remember that people who act like this would probably say “I didn’t say that!” when you call them out on how they basically said they don’t like representation. They might not have said “I don’t like that a kid is disabled” exactly but they sure *meant* it and completely hinted at it.
Honestly there are so many good things to say about this scene. The animation was good, the sound design amazing and it offers both a narrative point on the surface and another underneath it. It says a lot that these people will focus on something negative that isnt even a problem, just for the sake of being hateful.
I'm not a deaf person, but I am disabled and an artist. And this scene personally hit me very hard. Fiz is clearly exausted and dissolusioned. Hes so caught up and stressed out by all the preassures on him from mammot, from his fans, from this feeling that he has to be "perfect". It's not uncommon for artists to have periods where they struggle, I know I definatly have. Feeling stressed from preassure, having to do work you dont particulaly love to put food on the table, it can be hard. But then he sees the kid, a kid whos disabled like him, and whos inspired because of what fiz does. And it lifts him up. When he decides to step away from mammot at the end, he even thanks the kid, because (I believe) the kid gave him a piece of the puzzle he needed to step away. A much needed reminder of why he _really_ does what he does. Not for mammot, not to appease masses, not to be "perfect." But to inspire and uplift people like him. As mentioned, I'm also a disabled artist. And a huge part of what drives me to create is that very same thing. I want to inspire people like me, give people something to feel less alone, less broken, less worthless. To give back even a little of what so many wonderful artists gave me growing up. A disabled, marginalised person who fights hard to uplift others like them, being reminded that that is infact what they are doing and drawing strenght from it, is bloody beautiful. And as shown by my example, very much a real thing that happens. This scene was great, and any non disabled twitter idiots who think they can speak for us can shut it.
I don't even like Helluva Boss, but this scene was very adorable, and when I saw it it actually made my day, I have no idea how ppl got angry over this
@@Cacowninja the way it's written tbh, I won't go into details but sometimes it feels like a rushed series people made when they were drunk, but on the other hand, I really liked the two recent episodes
As a queer & mentally disabled woman, I shake my head when i hear people accusing HB of misrepresenting queer or disabled people. Slightly off topic, but I do hope we get to see the deaf/mute kid again one day, whether it's a small cameo or they & Fizz do end up as friends IDC because they're adorable and it was nice to see Fizz connect with a non-toxic fan (let alone a disabled one like him)! Edit: Recently Vivziepop decided to name the kid Oliver! Again, hope we see them again one day.
Honestly I never watch helluva Boss since it’s not my cup of tea, but I can say the deaf kid moment was just cute. It shows that anyone can like something despite their disabilities or limitations
I watch anything i would find that to things I like, like pokemon or stuff that got me hooked and made me interested to learn more, like anime (Demon Slayer and Komi can't communicate)
The disabled kid in Helluva wasn't unnecessary diversity, it gave a momment for the character Fizz to slow down and added to his character. Not just because we learn he knows sign language (prob cause his vical chords were damaged in the fire) but Fizz probably didn't want to let this fan down like Mammon did to him. And it was sweet how this kid with damaged horns, like Fizz, could look up to him. It's subtle and adds to the episode.
I don’t know much about deaf culture cause where I live there isn’t a large deaf population but from what I’ve been told(mostly by hearing people which is why I felt the need to specify) is that name signs are only to be given by deaf people and when we first get introduced to the kid he uses a name sign for fizz so I want to know who came up with his sign and how it works in the cannon with him being a celebrity in hell and all that jazz
Honestly I really liked this scene. I’ve got pretty severe hearing loss and I’ve never seen any representation of deaf or hard of hearing people in anything I’ve actually spent my time on or enjoyed. I saw the sign language and got so happy when I saw it.
As someone who was born half deaf (my left ear if you was wondering) I have no problem with this at all, I absolutely loved this scene, I could tell that care when into the scene and loved that fact that deaf people got representation (Edit: fixed “that” spelling
Also, I just noticed that the kiddo also has broken horn just like Fizz. Overall, that whole segment between them with the sign language and same horn situation is all the more touching. This is definitely one of my top 3 fav episodes without a doubt.
Maybe they don't like the fact that Fizz was immediately nice and connected to the kid. I guess they don't like the fact that someone who is capable of kindness is in h***. I mean let Fizz have his wholesome moment and I thought we covered the imps being born in h*** in the episode with Millies' family.
And if so...they have not watched the show at all, or at least not the last two episodes, Fizz is explicitly someone for who his assholery is an act and as confirmed here, something Mammon forces someone. Him being a nice guy was already established.
@@Leiliel1 I know right let's face if anything Fizz only crime is be kinda a pushover until Oz and Blitzo said something and he saw his situation for what it was.
The representation literally makes sense though. As a disabled famous person, Fizz would gain disabled fans that see him as an idol. Like. Imagine a gay actor having gay fans at a meet and greet. We naturally seek idols that are similar to us or what we want to be like.
People who hate Vizvipop will literally be pissed off at anything that has anything to do with her show or has her name on it. People complain about fans of her shows and yet, they're about as rabid as some fans.
I know it’s just at the end of the video, but yeah there wasn’t really any clown stuff. I can excuse that though because I think it was done on purpose? To show that mammon doesn’t actually know or care what a clown is supposed to be, and just wants to go with whatever makes the most money
So happy I ended up watching this and not just dismissing you as one of those people thinking it was one. (The title made me almost skim past it to be fair) But I wonder what the hell people think with the fact that FIZZ HIMSELF is disabled! He found ways to work with his disability. People complaining about a little boy doing sign language aren't seeing the whole picture. I was actually very happy to see that Fizz actually learned sign language though he seems like he wouldn't need it himself. I can go into head cannons for why he would learn it like wanting to reach out to those who were like him or something, but that just shows the kind nature he has always had with him and never lost. Those that say they didn't need that point in the show, it was a moment for Fizz to just stop from the crazy Mammon and sex driven fans and have a calm moment before they through us and him back into the panic. To show who he was really there for. (Sorry, this was my little time to rant a bit about people hating that scene. I freaken loved it.)
Honestly I loved that scene. It made me cry, it felt like almost a reminder that Fizz is disabled himself, as all of his limbs are prosthetics and his horns are completely broken, it felt heartwarming as when he got blown up he likely thought his dreams were over and the child who was deaf could feel that they couldn’t be a clown because of their disability too. It didn’t feel harmful or hurtful, it felt honest, heartwarming, and beautiful. If you’re scared of disability you’re the issue
Depending on how you look at it, this scene has two depictions of accurate representation Fizz was freaked out and being on the verge of having a mental breakdown, and Oliver (the lil' imp kid) uses accurate sign language As someone with anxiety, I can say that that's an accurate depiction of what an anxiety attack looks like I have anxiety attacks in social areas, at school, the bowling alley, restaurants, church, etc When have an anxiety attack it feels like my lungs close up and I can't say anything, I just stand/sit there Anytime I don't have my anxiety medicine with me I try to find a way to distract myself from what's making me anxious (reading, drawing/coloring, watching stuff on my phone, or making up scenarios about characters in my head) Oliver distracted Fizz from what was going on around him, and he's also a good way to normalize disabilities in media
Ironically, the twins inclusion as they are honestly makes sense, too. Mainly to further show the point that Mammon doesn't care about actual clown stuff anymore like Ozzie implies early in. I think that attitude has spread to the general public, too, because how the winner of this contest is determined is largely based on the audience's opinion, and the audience very clearly liked them despite them not going out of their way to be funny.
I have grown up with disabilities. I can only speak for myself and not everyone with disabilities. I am never disappointed when a show or movie doesn’t have representation. I love when I do see characters with disabilities that I can relate with even if it isn’t the same disability that I have. I absolutely hate bad representation and would rather non at all. The def child was a great scene that actually made me tear up. Whenever I see media of the disability most know me for having, it’s almost never good. I don’t see myself in those characters even though it’s the disability that affects me the most. I have another disorder that affects my hearing so when I see def characters I can relate more even though I physically have perfect hearing. The disorder is in the brain so I can’t handle certain sounds for example white noise messes with my hearing. I’m going to stop now before I rant any longer.
my only issue with this scene is the fact that it was very jarring, at least at first watch. im pretty sure that's the point though, with fizz being in an anxious and panicked state where he is only able to continue because of his few inspirations or values important to him. here being a representation for those who were once in a similar state as him, and struggling with disabilities. the fact people get mad at minorities existing is proof that they don't have valid points ....
In defence of the clown performances, the actual acts seemed to be more modern cirque du soleil acrobatics then clowning. So less clown specific and more circus generic. Cause their juggling in a tripwire on a unicycle would be considered technically amazing circus work and the being on fire part is points for style. When they floated jn the air using their water manipulation it also rekinded me of the acrobats in the hoop rings that dance on stage doing cool tricks. Id very much count it personally evennif its not funny its still entertianing.
As someone who has a decent understanding of ASL and the Deaf community, the signs were done beautifully. They even came up with a name sign for Fizz. I’m normally skeptical of helluva boss; but I can’t deny that this was representation done with care and not carelessness. Though, obviously listen to Dear community more than me, uplift their voices! I just thought I’d throw my hat in the ring.
I just love the fact that the smol scene is blown out of proportion 😂 it was very sweet and adorable but people just have to criticize it for fun 😅. I wasn't even aware of this issue but it's just stupid 😂
i personally thought the representation in this episode was so nice. it's rare I see characters ACTUAL SIGN ASL RIGHT. NEWSFLASH: you're not supposed to speak while signing. this was the first time since Dragon Prince I saw ASL get signed correctly
I really like that there was sign in the show. Sign is super hard to animate and a lot of animated shows dont include it as such. They could have chosen a similar scene with a charater with a disability that is easier to animate, but they clearly cared enough to depict a deaf character even if it wasnt easy. I really appreciated that
UPDATE: My thumbnail confused people into getting the wrong idea on my stance here so the video will be public to give people the chance to actually know my stance. Bit of a mess on my part, sorry about that.
Not a member but I am a subscriber. Honestly your opinion is exactly what I thought it was when I saw the thumbnail
The thumbnail was a bit misleading, but being a subscriber since a while at least I just needed the first 20 seconds to understand the real meaning lol.
I'm not on twitter anymore, so I did not know people actually...said those things about such a wholesome scene, but this was the right reaction to that situation-
_no representation is better than "forced representation"_
I mean, yea, if it's full of stereotypes, yes (cough, the sia movie, cough), but this isn't that.
Just change the thumbnail- there's no need to prevent people from being able to see the video
glad i caught it before it was gone
om not subbed or anything but did the thumbnail get changed? cuz if someone doesn't realized you're confused about why this is being called bad rep when you have 8 whole question marks in the thumbnail and the content of the vid is very clear on your stance they clearly weren't paying attention and wanted to be mean
To anyone going 'oh it would've been just as an impactful as a hearing/not mute child!'
...you're missing the entire point of the scene. Fizz was stressed out because the fans were all yelling at him for attention. But just seeing one kid desperate to get his attention while not yelling or touching him, it made him feel more relaxed.
People just *love* to criticise everything nowadays.
YES! Exactly
It's not even criticism most of the time. Just complaining
My favorite thing about the argument of "it would have been jus as. . . " is that its just an admission of being incompetently immoral.
If nothing changes, then they have nothing to complain about.
Right on point
Flaws, disability, and all!
you and me both, i loved seeing fizz interact with the kid, it was very adorable seeing that side of fizz
Yeah no like I use sign language and the scene made me so happy to see like I started tearing up I literally don't see anything wrong with it
i hate that many people think characters _need_ a reason to: be disabled, have mental disorders, be LGBTQ, etc. their only reason, like real life people, is that they exist and just happen to have such qualities lol

@CherishedFox-mc9hs ho honestly, at least they do have major differences. Usually as they grow older they start to look different from one another. This literally came out of nowhere, I didn't see anyone talking about it, I thought it was bad myself.
@@goncaloandrade5866how
I don't like this idea that there HAS to be a reason behind the inclusion of a deaf or mute character in a show just bcuz Viv is disliked by the general internet.

That's a pretty smart headcannon!
I mean, that's what I assumed. There are reasons that kid meant so much to fizz, from the broken horns, to yes, the sign language.
That is exactly why! His vocal cords got severely damaged due to the explosion and the smoke, it's why he sounds like Beetlejuice now, It makes sense he learned some basic sign language to learn how to speak again.

The funny thing about this, is that deaf people aren't the ones complaining, it's just Vivzie's general haters, deaf people are actually praising this episode, saying that the representation was absolutely amazing & that the sign language was extremely accurate
Especially for Fizz' name as according to peeps in the episode's comments, the sign for a person's name is the first letter of their name, and something they really like, so the kid used the signs for "F" and "Clown"
As someone who takes ASL as a class for a second year, we fingerspell names and deaf people are the ones who give sign names, it's not really a rite of passing or anything, think of it like giving a nickname. You wouldn't give a nickname to yourself, right? Other people give you that idea.
Its always people not part of a minority group speaking for minorities lmao
also as someone who is in their 3rd year if asl. I agree with what the other person said. signed names are given to people by deaf people. they aren't handed out and have meaning to them. I don't understand why the letter F was the sign for mustache. buts it's okay

Hello youtube user mintyglitch9304
Nah, that part was so cringe

Yeah fr people act like someone with a visible disability is either someone to stop and gawk at or avoid all eye contact with. Disabled people just exist. Why not portray that in media, like HB did? If it’s good representation like this who gives a shit if they’re just ‘virtue signalling’
the same people who bitch about this also bitch about the includsion of hailey cooper from both miles morales and marvels spider man 2 being deaf
they dont care about the inclusion, that care that the inclusion doesnt look like or sound like them

This! The worst example of "representation" I can think of is Rings of Power
But do you like even the show? Every character is gay or Bi, that makes it automatically a bad representation because only a really small amount of people is gay or bi.

(same for any character from a marginalized group)
anyways i personally really liked the scene. it was cute. i remember in the previous episode fizz saying that he "isn't broken" which really made me feel seen. being disabled doesn't make someone less of a person. it's nice to see a character whose disability isn't constantly portrayed as a tragedy or an obstacle and has a fulfilling life
After seeing the recent episode, I honestly have a feeling that Fizz represents Viv and the “crazy obsessed redditor fan/hater” represents well…that side of her fandom.
I'm not kidding when I say I've literally seen people say that we shouldn't want representation in this show because "the characters are bad people"
That’s just a roundabout way that someone tries to convince themselves that “I’m such a good virtuous person because I think disabled people can do no wrong”.
(Why I'm focusing on queer representation is because that's 90% of it)
But it's also good and more relatable to show messy relationships and lives that are just as hard to maintain as the "standard" person.
@@Leiliel1 I totally agree!

I swear this is to accurate TWITTER MAKES SO MANY DEMANDS..💀
@@colorbar.s Wait, Brandon co writes?
That’s why Ozzie said “he doesn’t even do clown sh*t anymore!”
@@DanielaHPerez Yep! Granted we don't know the exact time he stopped but, I think it's pretty much implied it's been a WHILE.
Hell the twins technically did win because of fizz forfeiting and quitting so i'm a bit interested to see how that will play out as the show goes on.
Thank you. You seemed to have actually watched the show.

Just that line got a subscription from me
The reason the clown twins were able to enter was because, as fizz or ozzie (i dont really remeber) mentioned, mammon doesn't do clown stuff anymore, hes just looking for stuff that brings in money.
Fizz talking to the deaf kid was the sweetest moment in the entire show, and probably a lot of other shows.
it's also good to show that while there are ravenous/entitled fucks for fans there is still those genuine fans
the ones that content creators who are passionate about their work do it for; to put a smile on their face and brighten their day and their own in turn
I know that they're fictional and all but, I still hope that kid wasn't too broken up about Fizz leaving
I don't think he was because Fizz got meet him and giving him some meaningful inspiration as well as sign his autograph.
Also Mammon is a dick and people can see that so I'm sure the kid understands.
I like the comments assuming Mali's take just via the thumbnail
I got so distrated an dlikes to divagate on thing so commented before the video started an d now she is about to end while I alredy sended the comment lol. But I would also like to see what people who also did not watch shit but yet defend blindly viv or the show have to say
There is no actual way people are mad over this 💀 im done bruh
To me, that scene was just super important to me. Just cause it was important to Fizz. Cus that's what makes his job worthwhile. Not the fame, money, fans or sex dolls. It's about inspiring others just like him
I'm glad that scene exists.
With him favoring the twins, I think that's Mammon wanting to go for a "s*x sells" strategy, which becomes even more obvious when you listen to Glitz and Glam's song.
the whole point is that mammon doesnt care about clowns, he never did, the whole point of his talent show is to sus out what the people would spend money on
honestly and its kinda gross, but the stalker fan kinda called it right that cause of mammon fizz didnt do as much clowning as he likely did in his youth
the whole point of mammon is corporate greed
@@sharktenko267 Those are some great points! :000
I’m sure that there are people who just want to complain for the sake of complaining. And I liked that scene, as we need more positive representation, and it showed that Fizz has fans who’ll love him and his work unconditionally.
Yay! An analysis video on Helluva Boss that isn’t in bad faith!
The world is ending!"
This is the least forced inclusion I have ever seen in my entire autistic life.
The number of people watching this show simply to hate it is astonishingly high.
i knew ppl were going to complain about that scene it was just too cute and wholesome for twitter not too attack
😂😂😂😂
as a member of a marginalized community, it's always refreshing to see harmless representation that isn't made to be such a big deal. in MLP:FIM there was a character in later episodes with the equivalent of a wheelchair/walker.

I feel like the whole competition isn't meant just for clowns, even though that's kinda mammon's whole theme, but more of finding a new entertainer
I think that's the point, Mammon only cares about money, so if the twins are the ones the public is liking the most, therefore giving him more money, he'll have them be the next main stars (which most definitely happened since Fizz quit), even tho they're more like pop singers than clowns
@@kawaiiemolga that is kinda what i was thinking,
Mammon moreso caring about what will get him more money even if its not his usual clown trademark.
There are Problems with Helluva Boss but Twitter always feels the Need to nitpick it to Death
one word will solve the “why would a deaf kid be in hell”: hell *born.*
OH PHEW just finished watching the vid. The thumbnail definitely scared me but getting to watch the whole video really cleared the air!
As someone who is currently taking ASL in highschool for a second year, I can give more insight into deaf culture since that is a frequent subject in my classes. This is a huge W in terms of representation for the Deaf (deaf is the "disability" while Deaf is the community. Now all deaf are in the Deaf community.)
The Deaf have been very adamant about the fact that hearing people judge them, think they're underdeveloped and dumb which is frankly not true.
Hell, there's even a term called "deaf gain" to replace the term "hearing loss"
There's also, if you want to look into it, a long an terrifying history wih deaf people during the Holocaust, it's something I really want to put out there as it's little known.
One last thing! Of course I'm still learning the language but I'm sure the ASL was correct. That or it's FSL (where ASL came from) because the grammar is really difficult for me.
honestly i wish ASL was offered when i was in high school i would have totally taken it
@@sharktenko267 Yeah, it's a fun class! I was personally not too passionate about taking either of the classic languages held at school (Spanish and French) so I took it. Glad I did.
I am not deaf at all, and I don’t know sign language. I cry every fucking time u watch that scene. I can’t handle how wholesome it is. Can we PLEASE LEAVE THE WHOLESOME SCENE ALONE!?!
honestly this ep was the best one out of all of helluva boss, mostly because it fleshed out ozzie and fizz so much and in such a good way
i also showed my roommate (hearing, but nearly fluent in sign language bc of years of learning and dedication) and she was ecstatic about the signs Actually being right - she explained what the direct translations were to me and we talked about how it was really sweet that fizz's sign name was the sign for clown
this was one ep that didn't feel scattered or bogged down in any way, and it was really refreshing to watch (esp given that fizz's insecurities are very similar to mine and hes a character i relate to in a lot of ways - im not outwardly physically disabled but the internalized expectations and pressures hit so close to home lol)
I don't even like Helluva Boss, but this scene was very adorable, and when I saw it it actually made my day, I have no idea how ppl got angry over this
Why don't you like it?
@@Cacowninja the way it's written tbh, I won't go into details but sometimes it feels like a rushed series people made when they were drunk, but on the other hand, I really liked the two recent episodes

Quick thing
the deaf kid has broken horns and fizz has them too
Not a day goes by that I find a reason to be glad I'm no longer on Twitter. Fizz knowing ASL was awesome to see and it made me so happy to see.
Honestly I never watch helluva Boss since it’s not my cup of tea, but I can say the deaf kid moment was just cute. It shows that anyone can like something despite their disabilities or limitations
What is your cup of tea for what you like to watch?
I watch anything i would find that to things I like, like pokemon or stuff that got me hooked and made me interested to learn more, like anime (Demon Slayer and Komi can't communicate)
Why can’t the internet just let it be! Please it’s just a sweet moment between Fizz and a kid.
I found the interaction with Fizz and the Deaf Demon really cute, i don't get why people hate that part.
As someone who was born half deaf (my left ear if you was wondering) I have no problem with this at all, I absolutely loved this scene, I could tell that care when into the scene and loved that fact that deaf people got representation
(Edit: fixed “that” spelling
Also, I just noticed that the kiddo also has broken horn just like Fizz. Overall, that whole segment between them with the sign language and same horn situation is all the more touching. This is definitely one of my top 3 fav episodes without a doubt.
Wait… people were mad at that scene? That scene was darling and made me really love Fizzarolli.
"Why is there a deaf kid in hell?" Bro was born there
So happy I ended up watching this and not just dismissing you as one of those people thinking it was one.
Depending on how you look at it, this scene has two depictions of accurate representation
Fizz was freaked out and being on the verge of having a mental breakdown,
and Oliver (the lil' imp kid) uses accurate sign language
As someone with anxiety, I can say that that's an accurate depiction of what an anxiety attack looks like
I have anxiety attacks in social areas, at school, the bowling alley, restaurants, church, etc
When have an anxiety attack it feels like my lungs close up and I can't say anything, I just stand/sit there
Anytime I don't have my anxiety medicine with me I try to find a way to distract myself from what's making me anxious (reading, drawing/coloring, watching stuff on my phone, or making up scenarios about characters in my head)
Oliver distracted Fizz from what was going on around him, and he's also a good way to normalize disabilities in media
My sis is deaf we both loved this episode! I always get excited when sign is involved.
Not a bad representation because to me the gesture looks like nice sweet kind and wholesome
Sallie May and Oliver (the mute kid) will always be better than whatever bullshit Hollywood puts out.
NEWSFLASH: you're not supposed to speak while signing. this was the first time since Dragon Prince I saw ASL get signed correctly
spider man miles morales does a good job at too i believe :)
god i love your sense of humor and the way you talk you explain so well on how stupid this is
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE FOLKS IN THE BACK MALI!!!
I really like that there was sign in the show. Sign is super hard to animate and a lot of animated shows dont include it as such. They could have chosen a similar scene with a charater with a disability that is easier to animate, but they clearly cared enough to depict a deaf character even if it wasnt easy. I really appreciated that
Loved that Sovietwomble reference at the end there. God speed to you beautiful woman!
