Display Port No Signal FIX !! [Step-by-Step in Description]

- Hi everyone. I ran into an issue where my Display port wasn't working after the computer went to sleep. After searching online and trying different fixes for 2+ hours, I finally came across a very simple way to fix this issue.
Please consider Subscribing if this video helped you out! Subs help my channel be able to monetize which allow me to produce additional content :)
Steps to fix the Display Port:
1. Turn off the computer and either unplug it from the power source or turn off via the Power Supply's power switch.
2. Turn off your monitor and then unplug it from the power source.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Plug the monitor back on, turn it on if it doesn't do so automatically.
5. Plug the PC back on or flip the PSU switch back to on.
6. Turn the PC back on and if this fix is applicable, your Display Port will now work again.
NOTE: Make sure no other video cables are plugged in to the GTX 1080 or other GPU. Just have the faulty Display Port plugged in with the Display Port cable connected to the monitor.
Also, if you suspect driver issues, connect the computer via HDMI or DVI and reinstall the display drivers again. You may need to use older drivers if the newest drivers are breaking your ability to use Displayport.
I hope this saved you guys from all the effort and possible RMA's!
Thanks for watching :)

3 years passed and peoples lives are still being saved by this guy. U gotta appreciate how simple the fix was
Yeah. Like, hey Freddy what kinda black magic is this??
Now 4-5 years
not simple just stupid i thought my monitor could have a reset button like a ps controler
I just had my life saved by this man xD
Five years passed and we are still being saved
Holy crap dude even 5 years later youre still a lifesaver! I was this close to calling it quits on fixing this issue after like 3 hours and sending my monitor back to get a new one, then i stumbled across this video and thought "Might as well try" and it actually worked!
i was on the verge of a breakdown bc nothing was working and i use my computer for college, and this saved me! 5 years later you’re still coming in clutch. ty ❤
What gpu are you using? Im having the same issue, hdmi works but dp isn't, gtx 1080 fe
5 years down the line and this video saved me so much trouble figuring out my DP issues. Much thanks for making this video man!
I kid you not I’ve been facing this problem and his fix worked and I was so surprised because I thought my pc was broken😂
@@CasualAJR I don't have the same monitor but I just got it I plugged in hdmi and dps but I'm getting nothing
@@doodlebob2172 My motherboard and GPU both have different DP and HDMI slots. I know my monitor wouldn't get an input when I plugged it into the motherboard, but it would work when I plugged it into the GPU. I don't know if that will fix your issue, but I hope it helps.
Everyone in the comment section is having the time of their life with their fixed monitors when I’m just sitting here like 😩
thats not nice to hear, it worked for me fortunately, are any other inputs working?
Airwreck Gaming I just gave up and got a new monitor after half a year 😂
@@Emorality oh okay, well i hope everything works now :D
Me too, piece of shit
Did u fix it yet
Worked for me! I left my computer running, just unplugged my monitor for 30 seconds and plugged it back in! Just like that, I'm back to watching porn on 2 monitors!
GunQuickie i can relate ,im literally trying this and it wont work
Haha im so ded! 💀😅worked for me too tho.
GunQuickie stop watching porn .. it makes you go blind
HAHAHA That made me bust up laughing truly haha.
Two different porns or one porn on an extended display? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hi, just wanted to give a huge thank you for this simple fix!
So frustrating such problems just appear right outta the blue, awesome of you to share this...was just about to RMA a 1 month old screen!
Six years later and you just helped me with this problem. I have the same monitor and it happened exactly like yours did. I've had this happen before and spent hours trying different cables, restarting, graphics drivers, everything and it eventually fixed, but I didn't know why. This literally fixed it in 2 minutes. Thank you so much. Same monitor with a 2060 that was built in 2019.
Haha same here.....
Everyone with their fixed monitors: me👁👄👁
Same.
Bruh same😀
did y'all figure it out?

Even 5 years later, you saved my life. Can't appreciate it more. Thank you
Its May 2023. After struggling for 1 hour, came across this video. Tried this and IT WORKED. Thanks a lot for this simple fix.
I've been having this issue with my monitors at work for a few weeks now and I tried so many different troubleshooting steps. Thanks for this. It worked immediately.
In 2019 this solution still seems like something stupid that wouldn't work, yet it does...
Thanks man, you saved my day.
so true though
Mine doesn’t work
2020 smirks at you evil-ly. It works still.
I was having problems with my monitor today and I come to this video and realize I had liked it probably 3 years ago cause it must have fixed my issue. After hearing the solution again I remembered how ridiculous it sounded the first time, but yet found out it worked for me before lol. Same problem, and same solution. Thank you again!
Absolute legend for figuring this out.
PC went to sleep and I got no signal over DP but still had it over hdmi.
I tried turning my pc and monitor off, trying different ports, buying a new cable, and nothing worked. But for some reason actually unplugging my pc as opposed to shutting it down fixed it.
I just want to say, that I love you. Thank you so much for making this video 5 years ago. Its so cool that its able to help people even today! I cant thank you enough for this, its literally a miracle. Thank you once again, you are truely a savior.
Thank you good sir, just saved me from a minor heart attack. Could’ve sworn I felt a static shock when I plugged in my Display Port and was convinced I’d broken it 😭
I’ve never had a UA-cam video actually help fix something until today. Thank you.
I know right same
Thank you so much!!! I was freaking out for ages thinking my graphics card was broken and tried troubleshooting info online from 'experts' with no success. Such a simple fix, thanks for sharing.
3years later an this is still helping people! Thank you 🙏🏼
I did what you recommended with the added step of making sure all of my connections were snug and this solved the issue for me. Thank God it was the simple solution and not something much, much more complicated.
I spent hours last week, watching UA-cam videos that had 10 different reasons why your monitor could be inactive. The IT department where I work, ordered me a new monitor AND docking station and while those haven’t arrived yet, I thought I’d try one more time. Having dual monitors is essential for what I do. I was literally dreading going to work tomorrow but not anymore, all thanks to YOU! I can’t tell you how MUCH I APPRECIATE you sharing this video. It was SIMPLE and IT WORKED! Thaaaaank you sooooo much!!!
My steps (monitor Asus Tuf Gaming VG279QR) all works:
1. Turn off your monitor and then unplug it from the power source.
2. Unplug DP cable from the monitor and GPU.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Plug again DP cable on.
5. Plug the monitor back on.
6. Turn the monitor back on and your Display Port will now work.
7. Miracle, work again, save my life, thanx a lot, mate.
I showed this video to my boyfriend and he strated to complain on how stupid this solucion was. I insisted that he should try it and IT WORKED. Thank you for making me the one who was right once again 😂
I honestly thought the same as your BF, and it fucking WORKED !!!
Lol won’t work for me my port the port one of the pins broke off
THANK YOU!!! So simple and makes me face palm that I spent 2hrs trying to update drivers and system restore instead of powering down the monitor!!
In 2022, same situation same monitor and a 1070, was about to get a hdmi cable until I watched this fix it, and I couldn’t believe something this simple and it worked. Thank you!!
This video is now 6 years old and god am i happy it was made, my problem started almost the same way and i just turned off and on and it worked, so thank you so much.
Did not expect this to work...
Felt like one of those noob questions "Did you power on the computer?".
Ty.
Im acctually an idiot my cat got behind my pc and pulled my HDMI out
stoned shaggy lol
LOL💔
In that case, your cat is the daamn idiot
Rma that shit!
Why are you watching this video if you are using HDMI when this video is about DP
far out, I just found this video for the exact same issue I have with this exact monitor. this helped me fix my issue. thank you 5 years later.
Thank you so much!!! I disassembled my whole computer and spent 2 hours trying to fix this issue and your simple trick WORKED!!! You earned a like and a sub today.
3 years later and this video is still clutch ...that’s brotha much love you got a like and a sub
Dude I'd already spent $60 putting my rig in the shop for this problem, and I was at a point where I thought my only option would be to buy a new graphics card. This fix saved my ass
It's 2022 and you're still saving lives. Appreciate it! I have multi monitor setup with the same monitor and tried many "troubleshooting guide".
Thank you! This just worked for me with my HP laptop and monitors. The struggle is over. I appreciate you.
Hey Freddy, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this video. I was about to go down that rabbit hole of spending hours and hours on testing (had already tested each display port and switched cables, was about to play with drivers... ) But your video saved me... THANK YOU! Everything came up just fine after following your steps.
This is actually insane, i tried EVERYTHING and this is the only thing that worked wtfffff thanks
Dude, you just fixed my problem that I was having for more than a week. I even changed the DP cable but after applying your method, it's working perfectly fine. Thanks.
Thank you so much, I have the same monitor and it did this - similar situation, was playing Overwatch and left it for an hour or so, came back and it didn't work. Was really panicking and this saved me. Thanks a lot!
woohoo!
Your amazing Freddy! I was legit convinced my DP cable was busted after trying multiple gpu's and cables. I can't be thankful enough to you!
OMG YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER, I just built a new pc and no monitor would work. I thought I messed up or something but this was the issue, thank you so much

Spent a good hour troubleshooting the same issue you had. This fixed it! Thanks!

How? u just unplug the computer then after 30secs its back?

Do you need any extra cable? Because I'm just connecting my tv to the display port/HDMI adapter and it says no display but if I connect the display port to the mobo it works, I'm having no video from the video card
Well im assuming everyone here are using his phone 😂

Wow... 5 years later and this just saved me. I found this video after i RMA'd my 3070 ti but after applying this fix, it works!
Jesus dude I spent an hour trying to figure this out. Opened my PC, made sure the gfx card wasn't loose. Tightened and cleaned DP cables and port. Turned it off and on then I stumbled upon your video. Can't believe this fixed it.
This actually worked for me. I can't believe this LOL. Thank you so much for sharing, liked the video and subscribed to your channel.
I know a thousand people have already said it, but I was so desperate for my monitor to work and I went through the same experience as you, and this actually helped. Thank you so much!
Wtf LEGITS its Working!!!!!!!!!
WOW, I have been dealing with this issue for months now. Sometimes it would fix itself sometimes I would have to use HDMI for a while. It just happened again and I was going to give up until I found this video. I have spent hours upon hours trying to solve this and this trick solved it in 30 seconds... Thank you so much!!!!!!
You’re the goat bro, I listened to this vid while following your instructions and it worked first time. Thank you so much man, big relief, I was really bummed out and my setup is complex and tedious to work around when I have to plug and in plug things so to have a video that I was easily able to search up that’s so cool.
Wasted hours trying to fix this... your solution worked in less than 2 minutes! thanks for sharing!
Just need to do it once?
words can’t explain how much I frickin LOVE YOU
6 years later and it still works, you are a life saver!!!!

Dude, thank you! I just came back from a week vacation to my computer doing this and I had no idea why as it was working fine when I left. Did several reboots, reseated and cleaned the ram, nothing...but this trick worked! Remembering it for the future!
As others have said, Thank you! It literally worked and I was surprised. I appreciate the info 👍

dude you dont understand how much i love you for this lol
My man, I started a job and am off training tomorrow, and I NEED two monitors for it. My brother brought me home a monitor with display port, and that was my only option, and I dont rlly wanna buy a new monitor entirely, so I was anxious when it wasn't detecting my displayport. Google kept telling me my port was fried on my gpu, but I didnt want to believe it. Your video seemed too good to be true, but I tried it cause I had no other option and the absolute JOY i felt when it said "displayport: active" and turned on instantly made me SO HAPPY. You were a god and thank you so much for making this 5 years ago.
BRO!!! Are you KIDDING ME!! I been trying for Hours and nothing. Even bought a new Display port cable and didn’t work. The HDMI port did work but not my DP. Was even looking at new monitors. I try everything and nothing came across the video and was like everyone else “ what the heck let’s try it” BOOM!!! WORK!! Thanks brother!! Live safer!!! 6 year old video but this Works!!!
I honestly doubted this would work just dosnt seem likely but in shock it worked thanks!
Thank you mate.....I spent more like 5 hours pulling everything apart, reseating ram, CPU, etc.....Did what you said, and it worked. I have a 5700XT and an MSI 144hz monitor. What a stupid problem, with a stupid fix.
Thank you so much! I was so confused why the screen stopped working all the sudden, and this worked perfectly!
Thank you!!! This was the only thing that finally worked. I have the exact same monitor. Appreciate it 👍🏼
What was wrong with yours? My laptop displays on my TV but it flickers on and off.
Ty for taking the time to post this. Asus VG248QE monitor, GTX 1080 (and also a 1060), same exact issue, and this "fixes" it... at least until the monitor goes to sleep again (which i disabled in Control Panel now that i know better). i had to look further into this, and believe i've "pinned" down the issue. Evidently this is due to the No. 20 DP pin, which delivers +3.3V power. The current DisplayPort standards state that this pin must NOT have a wire connected to it, so it no longer serves a function unless your use case is with old equipment. So what happened to all the cables that were manufactured before the standard was changed? Burned in a fire, right? Ha! They're still for sale, my friends, and you very likely have at least one. Mine came with the damned graphics card. That unexpected voltage confuses the monitor's firmware, and removing the power cord resets the firmware. if your DP cable has the 3.3V power, it WILL bug the monitor's firmware every time Windows attempts to turn off your monitor. Change that setting to NEVER, and/or find a cable that conforms to the most recent VESA DisplayPort standard. Janky damned DP cables are everywhere.
Awesome research! So when buying a new DP cable make sure it is a recently manufactured one and that it is also VESA standard certified/compliant! Thanks for that awesome research, Jason!!
You sound like a legend Jason. Thanks for taking the time to iterrate this for everyone. Crazy that the market is flooded with poorly made cables !
thing is the offending cables may actually be very well-made, and quality brands... but made prior to the change in VESA standards. you can easily check your cables using a multi-meter set to ohms. the number 20 pin (which should do nothing) is nearest to the slanted corner.
Thank you so much for this research!
i cant seem to find a setting that i could turn to "never". you're talking about the nvidia controle panel? because in the windows settings i did turn everything to "never".
I can't thank you enough....I was so worried there was a issue with my son's pc...he has a rtx 3080 and I was dreading the thought of sending it in for repairs but thanks to you I was able to fix the issue ....thanks again for helping out the community

Thank you so much!! Just unplugged everything for a minute and it sorted the issue out. So simple.
thanks so much. I turned my computer on and off again multiple times but nothing. This worked just the trick.
I'm having this problem with my NZXT build with a 3090 where I could be playing minecraft, or streaming using OBS and both monitors will go black and a message will pop up saying "an incorrect displayport version setting will cause the screen to be blank" I've tried replacing the graphics card 3 times actually, reinstalled my drivers, purchased new cables and still the same issue. I could be playing games for 10 minutes or 2 hours it will eventually power down my monitors and go to sleep.
