So nice to see you here. This music was my childhood. I played my Seals and Crofts vinyls over and over. Even as a child, I loved how their music made me feel.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all of the beautiful music. I saw them in Dothan, AL in 1976. Was in the hospital and received permission from my doctor to go to the concert to return to the hospital as soon as the concert ended. Almost had to sign the promise in blood. I loved this group and the beautiful music and sang the entire time! Am so blessed that I was able to attend one of their concert! ❤️❤️❤️
I still love their music to this day! Play their music on a daily basis. I saw them in my hometown in 1975 or 1976. I was in the hospital and begged my doctor practically on my knees for him to let me leave the hospital just for the concert! Thought I was going to have to sign a promissory certificate in blood to go and would have done it to go! It was at the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, AL. Can’t believe I got to see them in Dothan and feel so blessed to have been able to see and hear them in person. I was hoarse for a couple of days because I sang the entire concert. It was my very first concert and I will never forget it as long as I live. I’m 64 now and a fan until my last breath. This music is my jam! In person, they sounded just as wonderful as my album sounded!
I have always loved their music. It gives me peace, we don't hear music like this anymore. I have many favorite songs they sang. But Hummingbird is one of the favorites of all. Whenever I see a Hummingbird, that song pops right into my mind. And I start to hum it! They were a great team, great harmonies together. Sorry to hear Seals is gone, but I'm sure he is at peace. Bless Crofts, I hope he's still singing his songs.
There is still amazing music like this being made. Unfortunately though, it is not what the MSM puts on the radio or advertises. The top ten of radio nowadays is all synthetic Pop, and really gross Hip Hop, but that doesn't mean there are not any quality musicians making tremendous music. For example: check out Jim Noir. He's from England and has been making quality music in the same vein as Harry Nilsson.
I was riding the school bus home from high school when some fella I didn’t know started singing “Diamond Girl” to me. I thought at the time that he was weird. Now I struggle to think that perhaps he actually liked me, and I should have pursued him, but I was only 15. The things you think about when you’re 64! PS if you’re THAT guy, reading this now, thank you! It is one of my fondest teenage memories, and I am sorry but at the time I was too shy to react positively to your gesture. Love Seals & Crofts! I didn't know it for 4 years, but I lived next door to Dot. When her husband Henry passed away I would check on her time to time, that's when I saw the autographed album and asked her about it. She said that was her twin brother Dash, I thought that was kinda cool, I love the song Diamond Girl. what a sweet lady, I still text her till this day to say hello.
Seals and Crofts were a dazzling duo! My favourite song of theirs is “Summer Breeze” (1972). Unfortunately, I never saw them in concert. Finally, rest in peace, Mr. Seals. 🙏
My dad used to play their records a lot when I was a kid growing up in the late 70s and 80s. I never fully appreciated them till I was quite a bit older, but I never forget hearing Diamond Girl and We May Never Pass this Way Again. I reconnected with their music in the late 2000s. Seals and Crofts was the first concert I ever went to. in Corvallis, Oregon. Before they signed with WB, my dad drove them to a couple of gigs in the Willamette valley in Oregon.
I saw them at the Paramount Theater in Portland Oregon around 1976. My favorite songs are: We May Never Pass This Way Again, Summer Breeze, I'll Play For You, and The King of Nothing. On an early album, they performed a song called Standing On The Mountaintop, which was a fun, upbeat rock song. ✌️😎🎶🎸
I head "Your the love' on a Delta Air Flight ✈️ from Las Vegas back to Dallas Texas..I couldn't find it anywhere...but a guy from KNEWS Zoo Radio got me a copy from the studio...as he knew the guys and get a copy for me.... I loved all their hits but YOUR THE LOVE was a special one to me...some years later a friend in Dallas got me a extended version and had a disco sound added as well in the background....he said that the guys made a special edition for their fans of the song... so that is my story.. I got some great stories on the Rolling Stones 😎 and some other 70s groups...but maybe another time ty for sharing this video

Great video! Their Year of Sunday LP remains my favorite, since my High School days in 1972. Every song is a gem. Saw them perform live at an outdoor concert at Indiana University , Bloomington, in 1973.
I was introduced to the Baha’i Faith through their song, Hummingbird, when I was 16 yrs old. I later became a Baha’i after a Seals & Crofts concert when I was 19, in ‘76. I wrote this from China, where I live & remain involved in the Baha’i community.
I like the basic idea of the Baha'i faith --- that the various religions of man are like the fingers on God's hands. I also like the idea of the Hummingbird being holy because it is the only bird that can fly backward. But, beyond that, I'm still agnostic and not really interested in investigating further. If they are (were) rabidly anti-abortion, then good for them but count me out. But I do love many of Seals & Croft's songs ---- especially Hummingbird, and certainly many others like Get Closer and Summer Breeze. These guys were fabulous musicians and had wonderful vocal abilities, not to mention their brilliant songwriting. I really appreciate this video explaining their respective professional journeys, beginning way back in the 1950's. I wish I had seen them live, but the Soundstage video here on UA-cam helps to make up for that. They were one of the best things in the '70's music scene.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is the soundtrack to a 1977 coming-of-age movie called "One on One" starring Robby Benson. As I recall, the music was written by Charles Fox and Paul Williams, but performed by Seals and Crofts. The movie hasn't aged well, but the soundtrack is still a favorite. Excellent vocals
Dash is alive and well and he's also married to a wonderful woman named Louise that you didn't mention. They've been married for 30 years. They are both the most caring and amazing couple I've met.

Saw them in San Antonio when I was 14. July 4th, 1972. Independence Day Concert put on by the radio station KEXL. Only my 2nd concert. I was broke so me, my brother Travis, and Eloy all jumped the fence so we could get in. My friend Eloy saw his cousins there. They needed rolling papers. We needed weed. That worked out well. Freddie King and Navasota played too. Great times.
S&C have been my favorite pop music duo since I was about 16. I've loved many of their songs, e.g. See My Life, Robin, Purple Hand, Today, Irish Linen, Funny Little Man, Boy Down the Road, Nine Houses, Windflowers, Passing Thing, Freaks Fret, Kite Dreams ...

At a concert Dash needed a capo. I fished out mine and threw it up onstage to him! That was fun! East of The Ginger Trees. So many, hard to say which is a favorite.
My top four favourites of the mid1970, is seals and crofts, cat steven's peace train, Simon and Garfunkel, and Bob Marley. They where pure they where magic. 🎶🎶🎶👍😇
Some great obscure S&C tunes include the progressive rock (no joke it even begins in 13/8) song Say from the Summer Breeze album, Stars from The longest Road which features Chick Corea on piano and Stanley Clark on bass, It’s Gonna Come Down (On You) from Diamond Girl, Yellow Dirt from Summer Breeze, and the oft sampled for hiphop tracks (most famously by Busta Rhymes in Put Your Hand Where My Eye Can See) Sweet Green Fields from Get Closer.
Dash said they weren't dropped from Warner Bros. but it was Seals and Crofts themselves who decided not to renew their contract after being burnt out from so many years of touring. Knowing that, Warner Bros. put no money into promoting their last album, which was in some ways their best.

First concert I ever went to. Fantastic! Of course I was 17 and it was the first concert I ever saw. Started late on account of Minnesota winter weather. Halenbeck Hall, Saint Cloud college campuses. Jim Gordon( storied carrier with a sad ending, possibly most notably co-wrote Layla)on drums and he had to set up his own drums.
"You're the love of my life" is my fav. by the duo. I was born in 54 so kinda grew up with them. I've since have past on there music to the kiddos and grand kiddos,
I attended a S&C concert at Carolina Stadium (Columbia, SC) in 1976. I was in my late teens & already a fan, but that concert genuinely changed my life. They sounded even better live than in the studio ( a rarity & tribute to their talent & work ethic). After the concert, they invited anyone interested in learning about the Baha’i Faith across the street to a conference room they’d reserved. I became a Baha’i that evening, & my life was completely transformed.
The Baha'i faith's acceptance of all religions is in direct conflict with Jesus who teaches that He alone is: The way, the truth and the life and nobody comes to the Father but through Him.
Down Home I think was their best album. Jim Seals was able to make 3 sounds at the same time, an amazing thing he learned from his grandfather. It is on one of their albums, and I saw them in 1971 and he did it in person when I saw them in CT,
What does that mean? He could make 3 different sounds at the same time? With his voice? With his mouth? Does it mean he could sing in 3 part harmony by himself somehow? Or he could play guitar, sing and tap his foot? Thanks.
I was stationed over on Oahu in Hawaii, when they appeared at'Crater-Fest....a 2 -day rock concert held inside of Diamond Head Crater next to Honolulu New ear's Eve & Day of 1975/76. I don't remember seeing them, but there was a lot of smoke billowing from the volcano those 2 days. BTO & America headline the 2 days. I had to look up who appeared a few years ago. Herby Hancock, Billy Preston, Melissa Manchester , Sly Stone & Cheech & Chong were there.
I appreciate all this info, esp i had no idea about the relationship with England Dan and John Ford Coley (i remember them and what a catchy great name for a band/duo!). I do need to say that the way the video was read made it a bit hard to follow, i dunno what it was, maybe the meter or that some words got "swallowed up," (or was it too fast?) i had to keep skipping back to see wait, what did he say? I was in 6th grade in 1972. One of the 1st albums I ever bought was Seals & Crofts with summer breeze. I remember a song called "yellow dirt" was on that album. I thought it was kind of cool! Not bad for a 6th grader in Rocky River Ohio!

They made some awesome music that I have always enjoyed. Harmonies were second to nobody and loved all the acoustic. Never knew that their faith was Bahi.
"Soft Rock" was a subgenre of Pop Rock that originated in Southern California in the 1970s with simple, melodic songs. It was something that dominated radio at the time. Who fits into "Soft Rock"? Phil Collins, Eagles, Rod Stewart, America, Carpenters, Neil Diamond etc. Well, it might not even be my favorite style (and maybe yours too), but something of that kind of nice and easy listening music was certainly appreciated. "Seals & Crofts" were ubiquitous at one time. One of the most successful attractions of the so-called "Soft Rock" in the 70's, the duo composed by Jim Seals and Dash Crofts met in 1958 playing together with the singer Dean Beard. But he only decided to go it alone as a duo in 1969. Seals played guitar, sax and violin, while Crofts handled drums, mandolin, keyboards and guitar.
Ironically, my favorite album of theirs, "Takin' It Easy", was their poorest commercial showing. I found the album at a used record store in Toronto for $0.25 with a punch hole in it, when I was about 15 years old. I love that album. For most of the last 25 years, I have listened to it to go to sleep whenever I had insomnia, ie, at least a few times a week. The songs "Magnolia Moon" and "One More Time" are treasures. The whole album flows like silken gold. Can't recommend it enough to any Seals & Crofts fans out there.

Saw them in San Antonio when I was 14. July 4th, 1972. Independence Day Concert put on by the radio station KEXL. Only my 2nd concert. I was broke so me, my brother Travis, and Eloy all jumped the fence so we could get in. My friend Eloy saw his cousins there. They needed rolling papers. We needed weed. That worked out well. Freddie King and Navasota played too. Great times.
S&C have been my favorite pop music duo since I was about 16. I've loved many of their songs, e.g. See My Life, Robin, Purple Hand, Today, Irish Linen, Funny Little Man, Boy Down the Road, Nine Houses, Windflowers, Passing Thing, Freaks Fret, Kite Dreams ...
often played at my place almost every night = diamond girl and so many others = super cool great musical abilities made them interesting and vocal harmonies sweet as sunshine .
At a concert Dash needed a capo. I fished out mine and threw it up onstage to him! That was fun! East of The Ginger Trees. So many, hard to say which is a favorite.

My top four favourites of the mid1970, is seals and crofts, cat steven's peace train, Simon and Garfunkel, and Bob Marley. They where pure they where magic. 🎶🎶🎶👍😇

Diamond Girl was written for Seal's wife Ruby.
Dude had nice taste in women I say that much. To my surprise she was a very pretty woman of color.
Some great obscure S&C tunes include the progressive rock (no joke it even begins in 13/8) song Say from the Summer Breeze album, Stars from The longest Road which features Chick Corea on piano and Stanley Clark on bass, It’s Gonna Come Down (On You) from Diamond Girl, Yellow Dirt from Summer Breeze, and the oft sampled for hiphop tracks (most famously by Busta Rhymes in Put Your Hand Where My Eye Can See) Sweet Green Fields from Get Closer.
Dash said they weren't dropped from Warner Bros. but it was Seals and Crofts themselves who decided not to renew their contract after being burnt out from so many years of touring. Knowing that, Warner Bros. put no money into promoting their last album, which was in some ways their best.

First concert I ever went to. Fantastic! Of course I was 17 and it was the first concert I ever saw. Started late on account of Minnesota winter weather. Halenbeck Hall, Saint Cloud college campuses. Jim Gordon( storied carrier with a sad ending, possibly most notably co-wrote Layla)on drums and he had to set up his own drums.
Jim Gordon also played that gorgeous piano outro to Layla.
Imagine being an artist, making a song saying life is precious, and being censored.
Imagine today we are reliving that time again
"You're the love of my life" is my fav. by the duo. I was born in 54 so kinda grew up with them. I've since have past on there music to the kiddos and grand kiddos,
I attended a S&C concert at Carolina Stadium (Columbia, SC) in 1976. I was in my late teens & already a fan, but that concert genuinely changed my life. They sounded even better live than in the studio ( a rarity & tribute to their talent & work ethic). After the concert, they invited anyone interested in learning about the Baha’i Faith across the street to a conference room they’d reserved. I became a Baha’i that evening, & my life was completely transformed.
The Baha'i faith's acceptance of all religions is in direct conflict with Jesus who teaches that He alone is: The way, the truth and the life and nobody comes to the Father but through Him.
On my very first visit to the States, I remember Diamond Girl playing consistently on my Buick Century radio. When pop was really pop!

Seals died recently, he lived a great life
It seems odd that Dash Crofts never issued a statement about the passing of his long-time musical partner.
Down Home I think was their best album. Jim Seals was able to make 3 sounds at the same time, an amazing thing he learned from his grandfather. It is on one of their albums, and I saw them in 1971 and he did it in person when I saw them in CT,
What does that mean? He could make 3 different sounds at the same time? With his voice? With his mouth? Does it mean he could sing in 3 part harmony by himself somehow? Or he could play guitar, sing and tap his foot? Thanks.

I was stationed over on Oahu in Hawaii, when they appeared at'Crater-Fest....a 2 -day rock concert held inside of Diamond Head Crater next to Honolulu New ear's Eve & Day of 1975/76. I don't remember seeing them, but there was a lot of smoke billowing from the volcano those 2 days. BTO & America headline the 2 days. I had to look up who appeared a few years ago. Herby Hancock, Billy Preston, Melissa Manchester , Sly Stone & Cheech & Chong were there.
I appreciate all this info, esp i had no idea about the relationship with England Dan and John Ford Coley (i remember them and what a catchy great name for a band/duo!). I do need to say that the way the video was read made it a bit hard to follow, i dunno what it was, maybe the meter or that some words got "swallowed up," (or was it too fast?) i had to keep skipping back to see wait, what did he say? I was in 6th grade in 1972. One of the 1st albums I ever bought was Seals & Crofts with summer breeze. I remember a song called "yellow dirt" was on that album. I thought it was kind of cool! Not bad for a 6th grader in Rocky River Ohio!

They made some awesome music that I have always enjoyed. Harmonies were second to nobody and loved all the acoustic. Never knew that their faith was Bahi.
"Soft Rock" was a subgenre of Pop Rock that originated in Southern California in the 1970s with simple, melodic songs. It was something that dominated radio at the time. Who fits into "Soft Rock"? Phil Collins, Eagles, Rod Stewart, America, Carpenters, Neil Diamond etc. Well, it might not even be my favorite style (and maybe yours too), but something of that kind of nice and easy listening music was certainly appreciated. "Seals & Crofts" were ubiquitous at one time. One of the most successful attractions of the so-called "Soft Rock" in the 70's, the duo composed by Jim Seals and Dash Crofts met in 1958 playing together with the singer Dean Beard. But he only decided to go it alone as a duo in 1969. Seals played guitar, sax and violin, while Crofts handled drums, mandolin, keyboards and guitar.
Love them to this day.

I would have never guessed that Seals was in the orbit of rockabilly superstars like Eddie Cochran and Brenda Lee.
Their catalog has so many different influences. I can’t think of any group that ranges from straight country to progressive rock on single album.
Absolutely love Hummingbird. The beginning is a bit slow/weird, but after the intro, it is absolutely amazing.

Ironically, my favorite album of theirs, "Takin' It Easy", was their poorest commercial showing. I found the album at a used record store in Toronto for $0.25 with a punch hole in it, when I was about 15 years old. I love that album. For most of the last 25 years, I have listened to it to go to sleep whenever I had insomnia, ie, at least a few times a week. The songs "Magnolia Moon" and "One More Time" are treasures. The whole album flows like silken gold. Can't recommend it enough to any Seals & Crofts fans out there.

Their Greatest Hits Album...
Seals & Croft used to tour San Antonio, TX several times during the 70s and early 80s. I enjoyed their music and even investigated the Bah'hi religion. It is not really new. I liked their first song which had the lines "See my life as it was yesterday, see my life as it was today . . ." Loved that song

I saw them in Philadelphia P.A in 1973 at the spectrum, it was a good show considering I was at the time into harder music.
Occasionally their song "Get Closer" is portrayed as a love song. More accurately it is a "fallen-out-of-love" song. Great song, but rather sad.
