"Telomeres, Telomerase and Association with Human Disease" with Thomas Cech, PhD - April 5, 2011

  • Thomas R. Cech, PhD, is distinguished professor at University of Colorado-Boulder, director of the Colorado Initiative in Molecular Biotechnology and investigator at Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Cech discussed his laboratory’s research on large noncoding RNAs, where catalysis is carried out by ribonucleoproteins. He described recent research on telomerase and its interaction with chromosome ends.
    This lecture was part of the Scott Lecture Series, an educational event co-sponsored by Northwestern University's Center for Genetic Medicine and Driskill Graduate Program in Life Sciences.
