2:15 don’t do that please, as a loader for AirNZ we use those stickers for reference if the system fail to load the weight of the bag witch happens quite often 😅
Oh, that's super interesting - I thought the purpose of the small removable portion was to have one on the boarding pass in case you bag didn't arrive, and to have a couple of back up bar codes on the bag in case the big label goes missing. What should passengers do with the little removable stickers? And can you explain more about the weight - I feel like there's something here that I could do a bit of an explainer on in a future video. The bag hasn't been weighed when the bag tag is printed, so how does having the small stickers still on the bag tag help with tracking the total weight of bags on the plane?
I did, thank you! I’m super excited about it, but it came up quicker than I’d expected so I don’t have anything to commemorate it. Maybe 5k, but at this rate it’ll be 2029 before I get there, haha!
Nice to see you back. I'm expat Kiwi living in the UK. Nice to see Dunedin Airport. Only ever flown in and out twice. Does Dunedin still do international flights? Yes it's been years since I was in Dunedin. Really enjoyed the video and hopefully we'll see more. Another way I get to see my home country. I flew back last year for a month but as I get older I cannot hack the jetlag any longer so sadly I won't be back to NZ. See you again soon we hope! 😊
Thanks! International flights stopped during Covid and haven’t resumed. Jetstar is going to start flying to the Gold Coast from June or July this year. I have a few more videos in the works, and plenty more trips coming up, so hopefully I’ll get into a bit more of a regular cadence. A shame you won’t get back, I’ve lived a few different places but NZ is something a little bit special. Hopefully I can give you a few little glimpses to try and fill that gap.
@SupersonicKiwi Thanks for your reply. I lived in NZ for 55 years. Really sad I can't manage the long flights anymore. My flight back October 2023 took with a 2 hour layover in Singapore 32 odd hours. The UK government has also decided in it's not so great wisdom to tax economy premium. So it's really stacked against me. Couldn't agree more NZ is a very special place. I'm a Kiwi first and foremost!
Happy New Year SK!! Nice view of Tairei Island on takeoff. We used to have a crib near there. Flew NZ103 last Friday. Seat 1A. Got a doggie bag of AirNZ lollies to take home….#WINNING!!! I wonder if sparkling water would garner a 7?.
@@rodsloan3810 HNY to you too! It was a reasonably clear day, which was nice. 1A? A great spot if you want a snooze - the way the wall tucks in a little bit behind the door. And you get to passport control sooner. Nice one. I’d be worried that you’d get those lollies taken away before you get out of the airport! I don’t really know what to do about that water scoring - it’s taken on a life of its own!!
Yes, I was watching the stream as I was finishing this video. That new lens is delivering super sharp images on WFL, it’s great to see the channel staying strong. Yes, I’m moving to Auckland, so there will be a few more reviews ex WLG and then they’ll be ex AKL! The move is late February, so not long now!
Yes. You can’t film in security areas, including security screening, passport control and customs. Some countries have rules against filming or photographing government employees, and I’m always conscious of other people’s privacy (airline and airport staff, and random people at airports, aren’t expecting to end up in a UA-cam video!) and am careful to avoid filming people’s faces or to blur them out as part of my editing. Some reviewers are less fussed about that last part. I hope that’s helpful!
Oh, one more thing, if anyone ever asks me to stop filming I stop immediately, and that generally means I won’t have enough footage to make a review. I can’t see any reason to risk my ability to board my flight over a flight review video!
@ Thanks for the info that helps a lot and also what program do you use to edit your videos and put writing on the video when you review the food on the plane and stuff?
Dual cams.. Awesome on take off and loved the statistics portion.. Love a good meaningless statistic or 2.. Surprised by the green lolly favouritism.. Wow.. my world vision has not been altered.. I will not feel guilty about going for the other ones now.. 🤣
It’s all getting very high tech at Supersonic HQ, haha. Don’t believe the hype, you go with the lollies that align best with your values and don’t let anyone tell you different!!
Yeah, that is often in the announcements on the turbo props, but on the jets they usually take rubbish from you if they see you heading out the door with it. I should have disembarked with some rubbish to test whether they meant it or not!
Yeah, they have a big range now. I’ve been collecting them all for a few months with the idea of ranking them, but there’s actually quite a lot of them!
Gates 7 and 8 upstairs are for the Turboprob planes. When departing from Dunedin you use these gates (you go down steps). Im pretty sure they used to have more flights back in the day! The gates downstairs are for the arrivals from Turbo Prop planes.
Naa the amount of flights hasn't reduced, gates 7 and 8 like you say are for aircraft thT don't require screening so work the same as the regional gates at Christtchurch do and the regional pier gates in WLG
I always avoided green, because how could something that colour not be yucky?? But after seeing these results I gave one a go, and I have to admit I actually quite liked it.
Yeah, it’s a bit crazy. My rental car was $120 per day, so it was the same price as the taxis to get a car for two days. There’s actually a stretch of road just outside the airports controlled area that has lines of student cars parked up while they go home for breaks!
@ yeah and I mean I was already in Auckland so hopefully a good flight home from Syd and treat myself to a lounge and maybe even a flight review on my other channel
Finally another Supersonic Kiwi video 😃
It’s certainly been a while between drinks, but hopefully it’s worth the wait!

Thank you! Yes, I’m all good - just been super busy at my day job and getting ready to move to Auckland.
@@SupersonicKiwi Noooooo!! Auckland?! Moving for work?
@kiwiflyernz Pretty much for work. Also for a bit of a change, I’ve been in Wellington for 20 years and I am due to give things a bit of a shake up.

Hello from USA, very nice flight.
Hello! I was over your way last May - I should really finish that flight review and then you’d have something closer to home to watch!

Wow ❤❤❤

Question I will be flying on a plane soon am I allowed to use my phone camera to film inside the airport?
@ Thanks for the info that helps a lot and also what program do you use to edit your videos and put writing on the video when you review the food on the plane and stuff?
@HaydenMcK I use Premiere, but it’s not free. Another very popular editing suite is Di Vinci Resolve, which is free.
