You've no idea how this "left knee" thing has helped me! I've used this every time since I saw this video a few days ago, and this absolutely works for me! I passed my test a month ago, but I did not do lessons in the car I'm driving right now. So while I was able to park well in my instructor's car, I could not do the same in my own one. But I have improved a ton by using what you say in this video - thank you! 😅
I don’t whether you’ll see this Richard, but I just want to thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and experience on driving. I’ve been learning to drive since August last year. Every lesson seemed tedious, I felt as if I was going nowhere , I felt so incapable of driving and never pictured myself passing , It was like walking through a tunnel which had no glimmer of light at the end. And then, was there was no inch of hope left, your channel stumbled along my dark path and I am now such a driver that I could never have believed I would ever be, all thanks to you. Thanks so much Richard, I could never tell you how much I appreciate all your help. I know you’ve helped countless souls out there learn to drive🙏🏻 Keep up the great work Richard, and once again, THANK YOU 🙏🏻💙
Something I find really helpful is reminding yourself that you're not making corrections, you are simply adjusting your position for the perfect park. It's not "I've turned too late and now I need to reverse awkwardly", it's "Next step, reposition. All according to plan".

A car is not an axe, no need to chuck in it and that's it. And while over here, overseas, you can feel lucky if you get away with two chances to correct a fwd bay parking on an exam, in the real, live world if you are not an obstruction, you can correct your parking until it is perfect. Remember - taking time to park properly yields you some experience, a sense of accomplishment, and a lack of door dings, scrapes, scratches and such.
Totally agree, no excuse to leave your car parked in a way that makes it awkward for others, it only takes a few seconds to pull back and go forwards again.

Congratulations on passing, I have a video on entering Motorways, basically the same but a bit easier than a 70mph dual carriageway. I recommend some motorway tuition with an instructor, don't waste your time with pass plus. Just another way to regulate something that doesn't need regulation and it restricts your time as the instructor will need to cover things you may find very obvious. ua-cam.com/video/pfJi9EA05_Y/v-deo.html
Hello On my way to become a driving instructor and I m looking to take as much information as I can and I want to ask if you give regular demonstration to your pupils. Thanks 😊
It depends on the pupil, it helps some more than others but it it works then yes I do, probably should do more but I can be a bit lazy with getting out the car sometimes especially when it's raining 😂
Thank you so much for these practical maneuvering videos. Could you please do one which can help with judgement of the car when parking into a home garage. I find it very difficult to judge when to start steering and how much gap is left between the sides of the car and the garage door when parking. Also another video if possible on clutch and speed control in very narrow streets and turns with no visibility. Thanks and ❤️ from India 🙏😊
Another great video Richard. I like how you picked a busy time in the car park for a more realistic scenario. I’m hoping for exiting a tight parallel parking space soon 😂🙏🏻 it’s steering out of the space in full lock that troubles me. I find it difficult to judge wether I’ll clear the car in front whilst turning. Maybe I’m unique in that case 😂 Can’t see any other videos on this so that would be a particular helpful one 😁
Everyone finds that difficult, it's hard to teach this judgement as it's different in every car and generally just takes experience. Only get as close as you feel comfortable with and get out to check if you're not sure. This video may help: ua-cam.com/video/NhdQp-Hmds4/v-deo.html
The key to reference points is the size of the car. It changes depending on size... also, people move their heads forward or back while parking, without realizing ....which messes up their perspective.
@@HamzaHussain-xk8voyou need to be next to the vehicle (vehicle on your left) you're parking behind and reverse back so that their back end is half way through your rear passenger window. Then then one full turn left.
After passing my test in the real world I have been massively humbled by tight parking spaces with a wider (and very long bonnet) car. Yesterday I did exactly that "too early" front right manoeuvre and hugely embarrassed myself. You are right every correction I tried to do just made things worse. Staff saw me on CCTV to come and help me park 🤦♂🤦♂. In your opinion is it safer to do the 45 degree reverse method to position into tight spaces (I have very little space between the opposite bays as well as it is a multi-storey like layout)?
Question, if I'm forward bay parking into a space on the left and I have to move across into the right lane to create the space for my turning circle, should I indicate right first to move across into the right lane, then indicate left to swing into the bay on the left. Or should I just indicate left and then move across the right lane before parking on the left? Many thanks for your videos, they are really helpful.
When it comes to indicating, do it when you think it's helpful but don't do it if you think it's misleading. Judge each situation individually. Here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/n9u_hqfpj9k/v-deo.html
Hi, Can you please make it a bit more clear that when we do bay parking how much I should turn the steering and how Much I turn the steering back to straight the car wheel.?? Please make a video as soon as possible coz I'm booking my test thanks 😊
How much you steer varies on how much you want the car to steer. In this video to keep things simple I was steering all of the way. All cars are different, but most cars are around 1 to 1.5 turns to go from straight to fully steered which is also known as full lock.
@@ciemny9410 reverse is actually so much easier, especially for test purposes because you can stop at points which gives you more time to think, forward bay parking has to be done on the move so less thinking time
Hi, just wondering what the tricks are to forward parking on the left. As I understand on the test reversing can be either left or right but forward is always on the right, but obviously once I pass supermarket car parks have bays on both sides and I may want to drive in to leave easy access to the boot, rather than reverse in.
On test you can go forwards into a parking space on both the left and the right. Starting as far away from the bay before steering, steering late is better than steering early and accepting you may need to come back and go forward again is my simplest best advice.
@@ConquerDriving - Thanks, I will spend some of my time practicing with my Mum forward parking for both sides. My instructor says that they never ask for forward left, I don't know if this is because all his other pupils haven't been asked for forward left or if they have they didn't tell him.
So on my driving test when they tell me to do a forward bay park, should I stop, observe all blind spots etc, and then drive it in or do you only need to check centre and side mirror and not stop and just drive it in?
You need to observe where you think is relevant to stay safe for your situation. Normally this in front and behind to the side you're steering to see if someone is trying to pass you in the direction you're turning.
There's something about this guy he seems so nice

It is for most people, driving forwards into a parking space is awkward.
In some instances, you may not be allowed to reverse park at places such as banks for security reasons so it's a good idea to be comfortable at both.
I have a video on reversing into a bay which is the same principle and I also have a video on keeping a manual car slow using the clutch.
@@ConquerDriving I've seen the clutch control video. Will check the bay reversing one as well. Thanks again 🙂
@@ConquerDriving thank you mate, appreciated 🤜🏻🤛🏻
“That’s why he’s the GOAT”
This looks nice
Please make a video on how to do a T and L reverse parking using cones.
The reference point for this manoeuvre is usually when the first line of the parking bay is underneath your right-wing mirror
The key to reference points is the size of the car. It changes depending on size... also, people move their heads forward or back while parking, without realizing ....which messes up their perspective.
@@nthdegree1269 yeah, I'm learning in an a4, I use my shoulder slighly passed the middle of bay before then just adjust it
@@nthdegree1269 what would you says a good reference for reverse parallel park?
Great one!

If your wondering ! I’m from Middle East and passed ! Just Watch all the videos
That's fantastic to hear! Congratulations on passing!
Your vids are very helpful , I have my test on Monday , are we allowed to drive over mini roundabouts or round them ?
Go round just to be safe
You should drive around them if possible. This video should help: ua-cam.com/video/hvARKEv6jQE/v-deo.html
Hi,
Can you please make it a bit more clear that when we do bay parking how much I should turn the steering and how Much I turn the steering back to straight the car wheel.??
Please make a video as soon as possible coz I'm booking my test thanks 😊
How much you steer varies on how much you want the car to steer. In this video to keep things simple I was steering all of the way. All cars are different, but most cars are around 1 to 1.5 turns to go from straight to fully steered which is also known as full lock.
The only thing I'm still not comfortable with is bay parking
I didn't even start doing driving lessons yet but I thought reverse bay parking would have been the worst?
@@ciemny9410 reverse is actually so much easier, especially for test purposes because you can stop at points which gives you more time to think, forward bay parking has to be done on the move so less thinking time
are you allowed to adjust your mirrors for parking and would it be considered a minor?
Can you make video for left side judgement?

That car park was very busy that day
How is the left knee going to work if we drive on the right direction like other European countries?
how about making a video about parking on a narrow road(not tight space) where you cant angle on enough??
You haven't got much choice but to mount the kerb in those situations.
@@ConquerDriving what if the is no Kerb but parked cars on both sides? I thought turning the wheel only once and not full lock to the right
Hi, i am confusing about steering that when I start steering straight at forward bay parking.
Thanks alot
So on my driving test when they tell me to do a forward bay park,
should I stop, observe all blind spots etc, and then drive it in
or do you only need to check centre and side mirror and not stop and just drive it in?
You need to observe where you think is relevant to stay safe for your situation. Normally this in front and behind to the side you're steering to see if someone is trying to pass you in the direction you're turning.
Good luck George!
The guy in the white car should have watched your video on how to park
Thanks
Is it ok to reverse and correct yourself when turning in too late in the test? Thanks
Yes it is as long as you are safe.
@@ConquerDriving Thank you, and Thanks for the great videos.
