    Nice Paludarium! You might need more twigs for the mourning geckos to climb on in my experience. They would certainly enjoy that!

    aare mourning geckos all female? I mean in general, not yours specifically. They're going to reproduce fast, so be aware of that hehe

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  5 місяців тому

      Yes they are all female. I've had mine for over a year and have found a few eggs but I think they eat the babies or something because I've never seen any new geckos wandering around.

    Dude I'm so glad you made this I was looking at that same enclosure and was wonder if it was big enough or how it would work out thank you!

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  Рік тому

      I really like the enclosure. Its sleek and the bar in the middle is small compared to the others...but I will say this. The top portion does leak a bit when the glass is covered in moisture. It ends up dripping down a bit. I'm in the process of adjusting the misting and I even added a ball valve to the pump to slow the flow so I can get rid of all the condensation on the glass. I've got it narrowed in pretty well now though and otherwise its an awesome terrarium. Best I can find anyways.

    Loved how the soft music started the moment the first Gecko landed in his new home.😊 I have been wanting a few Mourning Geckos, and this video has confirmed my desire… well done!

    How you finding the geckos vs the water ? Im currently working on one and i cant stop worring about water vs the geckos .😊

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  8 місяців тому

      I'm actually uploading a video of converting it over to a terrarium right now...the water didn't work out. Mostly because I mistakingly didn't seal the edges of the glass and the condensation would make it constantly leak. That and it was just soppy and moist in there to grow anything so I fixed it all up! The geckos were fine with the water though. They mostly hang in the top.

      I actually made a new video where I converted this build into a terrarium and stopped using the water feature. There was just too much condensation in the end but when I want to maintain the pump I can simply open the lid and remove it from the area where it sits in the back.

      I don't even know what acrylic glass is but it sounds sharp haha. Ya get some PVC board. I used 1/4 inch on this build, but i'm also getting some sheets of 1/2 inch because I think it would be great for building canopies and that sort of thing too.

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  Рік тому

      You'll be fine. Did you use sand or something on the bottom? Really the only point of the false bottom is to give the pump a little depth of water to sit in.

      Thank you. I'm still working out a few kinks here and there, but I'm getting everything dialed in over the weeks and its just enjoyable to watch. My biggest annoyance right now is the glass gets foggy and I constantly have to squeegee it.

    I just wanted you to know that a vivarium is a tank with creatures in it (I'm pretty sure) , and a poludarium, which is what your making, has an area with water in it, I got them mixed up too. But overall, loved your paludarium. And when you said the plant where bromiliads, I think you where talking about those cryptanthus plants

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  Рік тому +1

      I probably did get the names all wrong. The gecko vivarium does have geckos in it. Is that what you means by critter or do you mean having fish or something in the water portion? To be honest i'm debating removing the water portion all together because i've been having some condensation issues. I talk about it a bit in my recent plant room tour video.

      I just wanted you to know that a paludarium is a type of vivarium. And cryptanthus are a type of bromeliad. So nothing he said was wrong necessarily

      I'm late to the party.... if anyone should read this, 'vivarium' is correctly an overarching term for a container housing life in a way that it can be observed/studied. So an aquarium, paludarium, riparium etc are all vivaria. But common usage of the word 'vivarium' seems now to be a land-based setup.

    Schönes Terrarium, schön gestaltet und gebaut, ABER viel zu klein und überhaupt nicht geeignet für diese Geckoart. Zu wenig Äste oder ähnliche Klettermöglichkeiten, der Wasserteil könnte der sichere Tod der Kleinen bedeuten und auch die Bepflanzung entspricht nicht dem natürlichen Habitat dieser Art.
    Trotzdem schöne Arbeit und gutes Video, nur bitte nicht nachahmen - zum Wohle der Tiere.

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  Рік тому +1

      Most people keep these species in tiny half gallon jars. In fact most people use mourning geckos as feeder lizards. This terrarium is a palace compared to that and the entire wall is full of climbing opportunities.

  • @SuperSuperPork

    will you update us and let us know if you end up needing the additional spray heads with the waterfall? I am curious the waterfall if you will end up not needing the extra humidity. . . also, do they spend much time in the standing water or just use the falls to drink? thanks! These girls will start multiplying soon! :P

    • @DontMindRyan
      @DontMindRyan  Рік тому +2

      So i'm sort of in the middle of that whole experiment...I've got the spray heads coming on every other day for only about 25 seconds. I'm getting a ton of condensation on the glass and the terrarium i'm using isn't sealed on the upper portion so it leaks a tiny bit. At this point i'm trying to narrow down the perfect amount of spraying to get the plants that are a little further away from the waterfall but i'm really battling the constant condensation and sometimes just want to turn the waterfall off. One more note I also had to add a ball valve to the pump because it was WAY TO STRONG without it and ended up just saturating the place. I'll do an update video sometime soon.
