      Can a orange flashing light mean the battery is to hot.

      Thanks for watching & it’s definitely a possibility that we can’t rule out. Allowing the battery to cool off may help momentarily however in the event that the battery is overheating, it may need to be replaced.

    None of these lights are the same as mine. My V6 fluffy will work perfectly and then suddenly stop and have a flashing yellow (amber?) light. If I press the trigger again I get a series of 10 blue light flashes. If I plug it in, i only get solid blue lights. I've tested the outlet and the charger. Both fine. After I plug it back in, i can immediately use it again normally, until it randomly stops and flashes yellow again. I have deep cleaned and unclogged it. Help?
    Update: i got a new battery fom ebay (generic brand) and the problem went away. Works like new again.

    The orange lights also flash when the vacuum is blocked. I have 6 cats and often have to strip the Dyson to give it a good clean - voila it works again!

      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  2 роки тому +1

    • @Ecksterphono

      Battery is low or battery not making proper contact to the powerhead itself. Check the terminals to see if there is corrosion on them The end of the trigger tab actually activates the battery button and causes the batteries to flash. The battery if taken out actually flashes amber if you press the button on the battery indicating that no contact with the unit isn't present. Are the 12 flashing lights amber or blue ?

    I'm not sure that my situation quite matches what's shown here. When I plug my vacuum in, I get the solid blue lights. But when I try to use the vacuum and squeeze the trigger, I get a series of blinking yellow lights. It follows a pattern of one long blink followed by one short blink. It does this four times for a total of eight blinks. The battery is just over one year old. What might be causing this?

      Thanks for watching Mike, it may be a simple as cleaning the internal electrical leads. Below is a link to our video showing us cleaning our vacuum systems electrical leads…which allowed us to get the vacuum head working again.

      @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Cleaning those leads didn't make any difference. Same symptom. That doesn't surprise me too much since, at least as far as I can remember, these vacuums will operate without the canister attached. Obviously, that wouldn't be an effective vacuum, but it should still fire up.
      In addition to the yellow light pattern I described, I can also say that when I put it on the charger, I get a solid blue light for about 10 seconds, then it goes out. I assume that's because the battery is already fully charged.
      As for crypto, I'm sure that's guaranteed to suck my money away faster than any vacuum would ;-)

      We appreciate the update, let’s not give up. We need to get that vacuum back up and running.
      It’s definitely battery related however to which extent…🤔
      Since blue light is turning off soon after plugging in, it’s either an overheating battery, faulty battery, or the least likely…being a faulty power cord…which in your case isn’t likely.
      We recommend purchasing a new DYSON OEM battery, not an aftermarket battery. We have talked to many people over the years that have had unfortunate experiences with aftermarket batteries.
      Please keep us posted. 😎👍🧰

    • @MikeWaltonWeb
      @MikeWaltonWeb Рік тому +1

      @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Yeah, it seems like this was a faulty battery situation. Of course, the issue started happening about a year and a month after I purchased the battery, where the battery had a one year warranty. I swear our products know how long they're covered and wait just a bit longer!
      I ordered a replacement battery straight from Dyson. I got it yesterday and my vacuum is back up and running now. So, clearly a battery problem. I'm nervous about the fact that even Dyson's battery only has a one year warranty, but the original battery that shipped with the vacuum lasted for around 6 years before it died. I really hope this battery has a similar life because it costs around 4x of what you can find aftermarket batteries for. So, for this battery to break even cost-wise, it needs to last at least 4 years. Here's hoping!🤞
      Thank you for your responses. I don't love the resolution of just needing a new battery, but ultimately I think you're right that it was needed.

    I get 3 flashing amber lights while using the vacuum. I can use the vacuum for 30 seconds or, then it stops with the 3 blinks, and then i can use it again for another 30 seconds or so. It keeps doing this until the battery goes dead. Charging does not seem to be a problem.

      Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community.
      Have you separated filter sock from plastic housing and cleaned internal portion of filter?
      We recommend removing entire filter canister from vacuum and carefully cleaning electrical leads. Dust buildup on leads can cause havoc on vacuum performance. Below is a helpful video of us doing this.

      @@DIYwithMichaelBordersI have the same issue as @merk1701, except mine flashes 8 times. I've taken it apart fully and the filters and parts I never realized existed/were collecting dust have all been cleaned out. It's a V6 I bought refurbished directly from Dyson, so the motor probably got plenty of use before I had it. I also replaced the battery last year after it died, helping confirm that the batteries usually do die first.
      I'm off to eBay to see if I can find a motor/handheld portion only. Otherwise I'd have been bothering the poor employees at Batteries Plus (for battery warranty) but after your video and other research I really don't think the battery is the issue. Thank you for the info! I'd love to know where you found how to interpret the blink codes; it drives me crazy that companies don't make these simple things public!

      You are welcome and we appreciate you sharing your experience. Best advice is to purchase Dyson OEM parts as opposed to aftermarket.
      Dyson vacuum’s are kinda stubborn when paired up with aftermarket parts…in other words…the vacuum itself may only put up with an aftermarket battery for a month or two…three months tops from many we have talked too.
      Looking forward to hearing back from you. 😎👍

      According to Dyson's support site, any time the light flashes blue during use, the battery needs replacement. On mine, after charging for hours, I pull the trigger (even with no air filter or attachments) and it runs for a second, then shows solid amber for a couple seconds, then flashes blue 10 times. As far as I can tell from the support site, this means the battery needs replacement but Dyson is out of stock on v6 batteries and off-brand batteries tend to not last long or can catch fire so I tried buying a refurbished battery from a seller with high ratings. It hasn't arrived yet or I'd let you know if that was the problem.
