My PS2 still works like it’s brand new. For a 20 year old console that has been consistently used, it’s definitely the most reliable and my personal favorite of all time.
My fav all time is PS VITA fat.
I wanna find a working one for sale...mines no longer work...after 1min of playing a game it shuts off with the blinking red light 🤦🏾♂️

Same here, PSP and PS2 Are my favourite, my older bro used to have it, though i still had my PSP though, but my PSP has not being able to work anymore since one of the battery got bloated.
Edit: I also had a PS4, which is an OKAY PlayStation console.
Same here. It's not necessarily my favourite, but my PS2 slim still works nearly 20 years later like its brand new.
Sadly, my GameCube (from the same generation as the PS2) has been having issues lately. It boots up just fine and mostly everything works as normal, however the disc drive fails to read any discs. (It’s not the lens)
I Love wired controllers for the PS2, having to sit on the floor a couple feet away from the screen just feels like old gaming.
The wire is pretty long though.
I'm still playing PS2 from my sofa, and my TV/ps2 are quite far 😉
You can just buy an extention cable for your controllers. You can sit on your sofa now. Lol.
But hard to find ori ps2 controller nowadays. Lot of fake one and easily broken.

@@mirko3601 OPL is a program (NOT A EMULATOR) ran through a soft mod called Free McBoot where you can load games either off of a HDD, SSD, Ethernet or a USB stick. I wouldn’t recommend USB loading but anything else works fine.

I bought that exact one because I thought my Tv didn’t have the AV input but it did 😅 when I tried using it, it didn’t work, it wouldn’t show up on my screen even when I pressed the input to where I connected the hdmi, so I just decided to use the original cables and it worked, maybe that’s why he took it off maybe he realized it didn’t work , well it doesn’t work for the ps2 slim but I thinks it is compatible with the fat one.
You can connect Dualshock 3 or 4 using generic Bluetooth adapter when the PS2 is on OPL. Pressure sensitive games will be a pain though. Finished many games this way.

Have my ps2 on a stand with 10 of my favourite games from growing up. Perfect condition and works like brand new. PS2 is still the best console in 2023. ❤

@@shanenice5380 yes, there's also the option to use a separate gsm on free mcboot to set the whole console to 1080p, not needing to use opl for that.

Tbh Ps2 fat or slim can go anywhere from $20-200+… it depends on condition, modding, referbishing, re shelling, the variant (colors…) all play into the price. That’s with any retro console. You could buy a new CIB Sealed Ps2 and a sealed game(s) for the same price as a Ps5 console.
I got my slim for like $70 a few years ago. I had to change the battery on it but other then that it’s like almost brand new as in looks. It can even play burned games now so I love it and collect ps2 games. I have a Ps1/2/3/4 and 5

You can use memorycard sd adpters, which is faster than usb external HDD. Turn out ps2 memory card slots run faster speeds than its usb ports, lol

Those AV-Ports are all crap in general on modern TVs. If you´re serious and have the money, get a professional Upscaler like the RetroTINK 5x Pro.
using modern controllers for older consoles is something i generaly am fine with and do myself sometimes but for the PS2 it should be noted that Square, X, Triangle and Circle were Pressure sensitive and some games made good use of this such as some driving games which usd Xs pressure sensativity to controll your throttle position sence the PS2 controllers use buttons for L2 and R2(not sure if it's also presure sensative actualy) instead of Triggers to my limited knowledge. The PS5 to my knowledge doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons so for some PS2 games this can be a issue unless the controller converter can remap a trigar such as R2 for example to be X so you can still have throttle control if the Controller converter can still make good use of the Triggers ...variable input .
forgot that MGS basicaly requires Square to be Presure sensative as MGS aparently has Both aim and fire maped to Square, light press = aim, Hard press = fire.

In case anyone wondering this is how you can stream a PS2 just connect the HDMI cable to a capture card either an external one or one built into your PC or laptop and then you can do your streaming normally from there. The good thing is since you’re streaming, a PS2, there’s not gonna be any delicate information on screen.

If y'all are interested, making a PS2 compatible with any controller is easy once you know the protocols. PS2 controllers use SPI protocol and most wireless ones use Bluetooth or less commonly RF

My PS3 still works perfectly, there is not a single bit of damage to the console itself and the controller battery life is still tested to be over 95%
