- This week we’re making my very favourite homemade jam, Apple and Blackberry.
Last week I held a poll over on my Instagram asking if you’d like this or a Q&A, and the majority went with this recipe! I’m so thrilled as it’s just the most perfect recipe for right now.
This time of year is one of my favourites, I absolutely love Autumn. One of the first joys of the season for me is when the hedgerows start to burst with the most delicious blackberries. I so look forward to getting out and about and foraging for them, whilst always leaving enough for the surrounding wildlife to enjoy too.
The possibilities are endless with fresh blackberries; crumbles, ice cream, compotes, you name it! But I ensure I always make enough of this utterly moreish jam to last us all year through, so I can enjoy it on toast and croissants whenever the mood takes me!
This recipe is from the month of September within my Ask Charlie Seasonal Diary, which you can grab by clicking the link below! The diary is filled with 12 recipes, one for each month of the year, a budget page, a birthday page and monthly pages dedicated to seasonal fruit and vegetables, plus a list of things to be doing in the garden for each month too. It’s everything you could want in a diary!

Definitely going to make this jam it looks amazing! I always take the pan off when I break to do the set test to prevent it setting too much…..which has happened a few times when I left the pan on ❤
Looked lovely, lots of blackberries around so better start picking! Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy making 😍
I will try it this weekend. Thank you very much. Greetings from Spain. 😊
Oh enjoy 😍 have a lovely weekend
Delicious! I am going to make this soon.
Oh enjoy! I am making some right now! X
My berries are in my freezer waiting to be made into blackberry jelly. I very much enyoyed watching you make your jam.....may l ask....what do the apples add to your jam? Thank you and may God bless you....every day.
So inspiring... thank you. I have never dared to do this. Have you ever tried making it with frozen berries? I remember when my children were being introduced to solid food, I would find that berries were a bit gritty when pulverized, but by adding an organic apple into the mix, everything became perfectly smooth for their little palates.
Yes it works with frozen berries just defrost them before, I often do it if we run out xx
@@ask.charlie Thank you very much.
Awesoe Thanks so much. Picked 16kg and just needed to remember how to... great way os doing it. Usually the jars are boiled so the oven is a good replacement. Cheers ...the other 15kg is going into wine...Mmm and wait a few years to age...good for 2025.
You are so welcome enjoy it’s my favourite
Do you need to sterilise the lids in the oven too, or is a good wash enough for them?
You said you shouldn’t double the quantities - can you halve them? We don’t eat much jam so any more than 3 jars would be a waste for us.
Lovely recipe and video, as always! Much love ❤️
Great questions, I don’t put lids in the oven they melt! The dishwasher does a good job! Or wash in hot water and dry on a clean tea towel just make sure they are 100% dry. Yes you can halve the recipe absolutely 👍 xxx
can you give the link for full recipe please
