Thanks for taking the time to do this, it is interesting, someone who is not in the trade keeping an eye on prices. We have decided to buy something next springtime. Van based. Used, much lower budget than you talk about here. Its not good for owners who bought at the peak but it is time that prices dropped to more a sensible level. Thanks again 👍
You are most welcome - I enjoy doing these, but yes this particularly video is not the market for all! I think it is important to have some independent views that I hope can help there and shall keep going. Yes the peak buying certainly has affected some especially those trying to offload completely. I think the reality of a ‘cost to change’ is the key now for people looking to swap - that the part ex does not drop too far… its a challenge as the used prices are settling. Thanks for the comment, A&J
Totally agree with the odd prices. Northern motorhome buyer had a van we liked 6 berth bunks 2014. 20K on clock and was 32K to buy. We never got to see it as it sold before we came back from France. A similar 2013 van came up with 35K on it slightly different layout but same company and range. 36K. I think your right Northern Motorhome Buyer has a strategy of sell them cheap and it works. Some other dealers still trying to keep high mark ups and it's not working. Finance will still be an issue. Interest rates dropped and then did savings rates. However loan rates are now 6.1% when they were 5.9% not long before rate drop. In the family market mortgage hikes and other things are biting families hard at present.
Thanks for comments guys. Yes the variance hits you in the face. The high mark ups are not working but you can see easily the dealers that are doing what they need to but some stubbornly not…. I worry but shouldn’t as its not my business, but they will lose out in the end. Finance deals on caravans and motorhomes have bounced around a bit this year, peaking at 11.9% and most down to 8.9% APR… again some dealers not adapting and adopting the reduced rates that the likes of Black Horse brought down. Just all feels like a free for all. I am just plodding on with this channel to kind of help people if I can where deals can be head and found - where to shop around, Thanks for the time in replying - always welcome to hear other real perspectives.
Bought a new Carthago last year, still think the deal I got on it couldn't be beaten now. Not least because there aren't any around with the spec/model I was after and haven't been for over a year!
if you bought a brand new Carthago last year then you're in for a world of pain in depreciation i'm afraid . Bet on losing fifty percent of its value in the next five years at least . The gravy train has just run out of gravy !!
Good you got a good deal… but I guess point is that whilst there are discounts the products that do sit in dealers are sitting there. They can’t hold on to 2023 and 2024 forever… the base vehicles are ageing as they do.
I sell original Danish modern antiques and I can say that this market has completely collapsed in the last twelve months . Pieces that would have sold in days before are now taking weeks to sell at a discount or not selling at all . Something very bad is happening to the economy !!
Welcome back. I can't wait to binge watch your trip. We're in the market. Sadly taken a bit of a hit on what we're selling after only 7 months use. But I'm seeing good discounts on a replacement, so hopefully there will be some balance for us looking at the overall picture. Looking forward to your next market update. Thanks for the views. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. In theory we would hope that the ‘price to change’ balances back again - I am curious over the prices of the 2025 models coming through given the drops on current new being reduced and the easing back on used prices… What its making you switch out of interest? For us it was layout first time switched and more storage the second time. thats the vlog I shall do next I think. Busy editing lots of footage and clips from this summer so shall get those up soon.
Why do you need to watch you tube to know what is going on in the leisure motorhome market? If you knew how dealers operate when they take stock from manufacturers, and look at their packed forecourts with unsold 23/24 models, you'll realise the industry is in trouble. A lot of dealers are now refusing to take more stock on because they are making less and less money per unit because manufacturers ( Swift) being a key culprit here, are literally threatening dealers who won't take a certain amount of units and the dealers profit margins are being squeezed by the likes of swift, hence we are seeing dealers going out of business and some even refusing to sell New stock anymore.
@@Dusty2feathers Agree the industry is in one of it’s toughest spots. The dealers are squeezed but the whole industry has not reflected on two things - the post-pandemic picture - the bubble would eventually pop and the current economic climate - churning out vehicles at pandemic demand levels as we head into 2025 is foolish - dealers are not shifting stock and as you say - sitting on the finance line of the 23 and 24 models that the makers insist they have. Hopefully swift reducing workforce and cutting back production will start thier path to a new normal. Removing dealer specials and reducing production costs there is one move, but an ageing caravan range and lack of entry level prices to an entry level range still not sitting right. Swift not alone in this. Over the summer we saw finance deals drop from 11.9% to 9.9% and in many cases now 8.9% but this is still high for the masses. So many factors at play. Brownhills for example literally did not really want our last MH in part ex and did everything to put us off doing a deal with them.
@@twoguystwodogsfourwheelsI was also wondering about the gap that will be created between discounted 24 models and increased prices for 25 models in the future. I'm tempted by the discounted 24 prices to be honest. Theoretically buying a new model should give one a better resale value in 3 or 4 years' time. But one reason for changing is the odd bugs we found in our nearly new moho. We'd prefer a 2 or 3 year old moho that has been "run in". But the main reason is as you found, 3 aspects of the layout. It is a compact, but it's too narrow inside. The fridge is tiny with the freezer space even worse. And the German bed style gives small non practical wardrobes at the feet of the 2 beds. Thank you for your detailed response.
Thanks mate, very informative. Were looking to buy, but not until prices have normalised some more. You get a lot of negative feedback online, from owners if you dare mention prices will keep going down,🙃 but well see 😄
@@carlkeeling there is definitely a shift in used prices - they are a depreciating asset so you know that over time it devalues… frustrating as some have had the benefit of hey days and higher trade ins but this is a back to reality time - good luck in your search and I shall keep updating. Thanks for the feedback

Indeed the making hay days have gone indeed. Am just very interested to see how it levels and becomes more realistic again in time.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that. Yes the excess income to spend is more than likely being used for essentials.

And obviously discounting in new is also bringing down trade in prices… hence used settiling down too.
