Been crazy happy with our Ubbi. For anyone looking to buy one, you can find it here: amzn.to/2HzjZiX Limited time colors (Chrome, Gold, Rose Gold) found at Buy Buy Baby as well: bit.ly/2xXc3IR
All the reasons why we decided to get an ubbi. I was able to get it for less at bed bath and beyond by using the $20 off a purchase of $75 coupon and it qualified for free shipping!
9 months in with the ubbi! Had first smell issue only in the last few days. Gave it a scrub on the inside and it should be good to go! Amazon also runs a sale every so often on it. We also use regular kitchen bags.
This video did it. Unni it is. I always wondered why people would say the Diaper Genie was not worth it, now I know. I will let my son know. I am the 1st time grandma helping out with research.
Prior to having our baby we used it for our puppy pads while we were still living in an apartment and this thing could hold a week's worth (I know it's gross but taking out trash was rough) of dirty puppy pads without emitting any smell! 10/10 recommend. Also found ours at Burlington for like 40 bucks
Just registered for the Ubbi a few days ago! You've confirmed my thoughts that it's the best diaper pail, mostly because it's steel and doesn't require proprietary bags.
Long time geek, first time dad here, and I just started following your channel. My wife swayed me on the Ubbi and it was REALLY nice to see you suggesting it also. Keep being awesome.
Thank you!!! I have been waiting for this very video! 😁😁😁 My wife eventually convinced me to buy the Ubbi over the diaper genie for our upcoming baby. Although I first struggled with the higher “premium” price tag, you’re so right about the long term cost of diaper genie refills! I’ve watched pretty much every one of your videos and love your channel! Thanks for the awesome content 😁
After watching this I'm almost willing to spend my whole $100 that I get a month on this alone for my daughter and her three boys. this is an amazing product holy moly. thank you for this review I didn't even know that these things existed.
Ubbi it is, I was having a hard time choosing a diaper pail for my child I will soon be having and was upset that the Genie show as the best seller on amazon even though it has such poor ratings, and you have clarified that the Ubbi is clearly an improvement. Thanks!
Our little girl is 5 weeks old and we love our Ubbi! It does mask the smell well and I like that we can just use our regular garbage bags from Costco. So handy in our two story home.
@@lynettelike1781 so funny that you commented this because we actually just finished fully potty training our little girl! The answer is it depends on the age. About twice a week as a newborn then about once a week after that. Less and less as time goes on. It holds a surprising amount! I will say after 2.5 years of use it does develop some odor retention but that's from the plastic sealing ring. Just wrap the lid and ring the bags go through in newspaper for 24hrs and the odor dissipates. We totally recommend it still! We love it 😊
At first I thought it was insane to go buy a $70 diaper trash can but I did my research on it and plenty of people seemed happy, so I went ahead and splurged. It truly does it’s job, just like you said in the video, so for anyone out there looking for a pail I strongly recommend it. At least, consider stainless steel instead of plastic it WILL keep your nursery smelling like your baby and NOT his/her smelly diapers.
I agree 100% it seems more expensive at first and I’m kicking myself for not looking into this one first. We received a diaper genie for our shower and it actually broke a few months in plus I didn’t like that there is a blade to cut off their bags with. I can especially appreciate that you can use your own trash bags which means no blades or no accidentally running out of the refills. Going back to the blade though I never thought of it til Natalie Bennett told in a video how her son cut his tongue on the blade so that was one of the final reasons we didn’t just buy another diaper genie
Our first baby is due in a couple weeks but we have two special needs dogs who both uses diapers so we were super excited when this item was purchased off our registry. After a week of the diaper genie use I've noticed the smell leaks and was disappointed. I can only imagine the smell when the baby comes. Will be exchanging the refills for the ubbi asap.
Love your channel, keep doing your thing. Our little Paxton is coming in 1.5 months and I came across your channel looking for reviews. It has been beyond helpful in deciding what we need and don't need. It's cool to support someone fairly local as well, we are in Tyler.
The Ubbi is what we have for our new 8 week old. It has worked absolutely great, plus we love the fact that you don't need a proprietary bag refill. Would recommend this to everyone. The initial price is worth it (especially if you get it from someone on your registry:P).
We had an Ubbi on a registry but we didn't get it. Im glad no one bought it for us at full price because just bought one yesterday on Facebook marketplace for $15. I love marketplace!
My wife babysits in our home. She has several kids in diapers that she watches, and the smell of dirty diapers haunted the room she does the changings in. We got the ubbi as a shower for our little one and it is a godsend!! We love it.
When we had our first daughter (10 years ago O_O ) the Diaper Genie was the absolute best-- hands free, simple to use, just wonderful. We're going on #2 now and it looks like Diaper Genie's downgraded significantly. I'll admit, I've gotten a little overwhelmed by the way baby products have changed, but thankfully I thought to see if someone on YT reviewed these kinds of things! XD Thanks for comparing them, its helped make this decision easier. :D
Awesome video as usual dude. Keep up the good work. Was just to about to look into some nappy (diaper) disposal options. Genuinely great timing haha. Twins due in September so thanks for all your previous videos, been super helpful.
Ubbi is probably the most popular diaper in recent years but I heard from other parents that their Ubbi container developed an odor in the long term. Please keep us posted how it goes after a year or so. I currently have the Prince Lionheart Twist'R which has a pretty awesome design to block the smell but since the baby is not here yet I can't tell how good it really is. Also, it is $99 plus the costs for exclusive trash bags which makes it more expensive than any the other options available in the market right now.
Ours has yet to develop an odor and we've used it for about a year. My main complaint is that since it does a great job at containing odors, when it comes time to change out the bag, the smell comes pouring out and it's excruciating, lol. The smell lingers in the room for a moment before dissipating. I still like our Ubbi, but I'd love to test the Twist'R. Looks like great option and very well designed.
Great info - if we have another, we might try this one - you're totally right about the Diaper Genie holding smells - we finally had to put ours in the garage!
Just wish it gave more insight on the actual odor protection. But your personality and video output was awesome. Add a little more content and I'd subscribe for sure. Good luck!
I know this video is older and you guys love the Ubbi but if you're looking for another review, the new Skip Hop Diaper Pail is amazing! It's stainless like the Ubbi and uses trash bags, but you don't get hit with the diaper smell when you put the diaper in there like you do the Ubbi!
We have the Ubbi and love it! We've never used anything else so I can't compare it but our nursery never smells like dirty diapers. Every time we take the bag out I'm amazed at how much stink was hidden inside 😂
Ubbi is great! I just wish they would come out with a bigger sized pale for cloth diapers since cloth diapers are bulkier and this size only stores about 1-2 days worth of one child in a diaper. Cloth diaper users normally wash every 3-4 days so yeah. Diaper Dekor makes a good decent size but the design isn't as sleek as Ubbi, it literally looks like a normal trash can, not as nice to keep in the nursery in my opinion.
we love our Ubbi and have been using it for about a year now and will be using ti with the next one on the way.... however! has anyone had any problems with the pailon the inside smelling horrible and leaking out when you open the door? how do you manage the inside smell? It has never leaked odors outside it however unless the door is open.
I wish you said Diaper Genie costs X amount for refills versus Y amount for garbage bags. Now I need to go figure out how often you use one versus the other
I've been looking in options for cat litter. I have had the litter locker before but it was a long time ago and I don't whether or not I found it worked very well. I also was curious of a diaper one would serve the same purpose but be made better quality and cheaper in the long run. I had never heard about the ubbi until today when I started researching. This was a great review. And I'm surprised that the system that doesn't temporarily seal the bag as you go blocked the smell better than the diaper genie types. Still researching, but this one seems cool. Just looking for where to get in canada.
Loved my diaper pail with twins I had a diaper champ was awesome you drop the diaper in the hole and flip the handle never opening it to let out the stink a weight in the middle would drop it in when you flipped the handle kinda like the la baby magic I’m seeing today I used regular trash bags I hated the diaper genie my friend had one and I thought it was gross and a pain getting that dirty snake of diapers out was just yuck plus my can was as big a trash can and took a while even with twins to fill it loved it so much
11 months in and ours is starting to fill the nursery with a strong dirty diaper odor any time we open it. We’ve cleaned it and even left it open outside overnight to air it out. The problem persists. Anyone else in the same boat?
Ours started this by month 3, I think. I just ordered a diaper genie to try it out and see if it was any better. It’s pretty terrible opening the Ubbi.
Ive got the Ubbi myself and I love it, but the only flaw is that it's not as convenient or easy to dispose of a dirty diaper as some other diaper pails. I wish it had a different system than a slide to open. But I will say it keeps in the smell of those gross diapers LOL
Are you guys still using the Ubbi this time around? After a year of using even after washing it, it doesn’t seem to hold solids poo odor and stinks the whole nursery and hallway. Lol
I dont even have a baby,im just looking for a trashcan for our bathroom and thought a diaper gene would be perfect 😂. Lol,i like this one,so if i cant find any nice trashcans or if i have a kid in the future (very slim chance) then im definitely getting the ubbi. Oh and also, couldn't u just use one of those foot operated trashcans and put it in the nursery for diapers? Although i guess it wouldnt hold odors in that well.
I can’t figure out how to get the trash bag out of the ubbi diaper pail without ripping the bag or bringing the full diaper pail out to the trashcan - please help
If you buy a Ubbi you save money on the diaper garbage refills And the super super intelligent 18 month old I take care of can’t open it!! She tries to undo the lock but can’t :)
We were not going to go the diaper pail route, but we're gifted one. So we had to scramble in our research of these. After talking to friends with kids we gleaned this wisdom: Babies diapers don't smell that bad until they start eating more solid food. And even then, they aren't that bad until they're eating "normal human food" like off your plate. So we've decided not to actually use our diaper genie until we get to that point. At this point we are just hanging plastic bags on the door knob to the nursery and disposing of the diapers that way. (Woody is only a few weeks old...) I do like the idea of being able to use any bag with this Ubbi, as well as the fact that it locks!
Hi - I never mentioned how much the total cost would be for the Ubbi? 200-300$ for diaper genie over the course of 2-3 years and How much for the ubbi with regular bags? How often are you guys having to change the trash bags? Please let me know- thanks so much😊
if a 3 pack refill lasts you a month, you are not using it correctly... ONE refill lasts for 290 diapers!!! it lasts about a month! I bought one of those 3 packs about 2 months ago when my baby was born and I still have 2 left (I used the one that came with the pail and one of the pack).. The diaper genie works GREAT if you know how to use it!
Watch this video that will teach you to squeeze your diaper genie bag so it actually lasts you for how long it is advertised for. ua-cam.com/video/3g5AAmIuyX8/v-deo.html
It fit plenty when the baby was a newborn but by 6-8 months, that wasn't the case. Most reviewers on Amazon, even positive, have claimed similar. At most, 1 pack would last around 10 days. See here: amzn.to/2sUpXpd

That's awesome! I think it'll suit you well.

Another great review. I'm taking the diaper gene off my registry and replacing it with the Ubbi. Thank you!

They also work very well if you have cats it will keep them out and the gnats/flys.

I oddly got one for the cats litter it stops the small and stops the gnats from getting into it.

Babies LOOOVe garbage. Why? My baby seems to always manage to find the dirtiest thing on the room.
