Hi Andy, Great review as usual. I’ve gotta comment on how useful your reviews are coming from a road rider point of view, that is what 99.9% of riders want to hear 👍. Do you think that the Streetfighter may run a bit cooler than the Panigale, seeing that there’s no fairing channeling hot air thru the engine and then combining with the radiated exhaust heat? You’re making it very difficult for me to not go and visit my local dealer and throw my money on the table 😂. Eagerly awaiting your comparison video 👍🎥. Cheers from 🇦🇺
It's got better heat management due to rear cylinder cut, Andy, from what I could gather. Reviewers in California said it ran cooler than the tuono. Which is killer!
Anupam, supposedly the Panigale also has the rear cylinder cut out.....but it is still a heat furnace in our Cali warm weather! My theory is that the open bodywork allows better heat exchange to the atmosphere on the Street Fighter.
Great wrap up on the SF, nice insights. These will help me a lot as I ponder what's next for myself personally. I will also look forward to the comparison with the KTM, as that's another one that I have on my radar. You hit most of what I have observed with my V4S which is quite similar to the SF I believe. ONE Thing that I have come to really appreciate that you did not mention is the auto cancelling turn signals. I do appreciate this feature quite a bit, funny small thing, but very handy for us forgetful types. The lack of a gas gauge baffles me, Ducati are so good with the electronics implementation and the attendant software. Hi Andy Thanks for all your videos. Look forward to them each week. I just put a holding deposit down on a Streetfighter V4S, doesn’t arrive in country until September and need to test ride one soon. I put myself in your general area of age and expertise (probably slightly less in skill). The SF has power but if setup right until you get used to it, is it a bike that will be too much for you and I so to speak. I’m no tack day regular or anything. Weekends only around the state here in Queensland Australia. Just wondering if I am buying too much bike even though it has rider aids and can be tweaked to help save my life? My other alternative was still 150Hp so what difference does 200HP make :-) I hope I can safely grow into it.
Are you sure this bike has a “Je ne sai pas quoi” about it? I’m not so sure. I think it should that be a “Non so cosa.” It even sounds better. This is a great review of a highly aspirational piece of kit.
You mention in one vid the change in exhaust note in 4th at 31mph and in this that the engine runs cooler than the Panigale. By any chance does this engine turn off the rear 2 cylinders in certain low load conditions?
Nice review! I rode it this summer, had no troubles with the gearbox finding neutral, but the qs had often problems with higher gear under 40-75% load (quick corners). I read somewhere that they sorted this out, could you confirm if the changed something? My best 2 bikes this year were the Street Triple RS and Streetfighter V4S :)
Having ridden for 10 years, taking a break due to family, money etc and coming back to bikes in 2020. Is it just me or have all new bikes gone up significantly in price?! I am sure in 2007 my R6 was about 7 or 8 grand. Even with inflation the costs of bikes now seems insane!
I've always found that heat from the underseat exhausts on a Ducati is only a problem if you dawdle about and ride them sloooooooowly. If you ride them like they're meant to be ridden (i.e. fast) then heat isn't a problem, as you leave it all behind. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
Well there may well be something in that! Sadly you still have to stop at traffic lights and so on and that's when I find you notice it most on my Panigale....not an issue on this bike though as I say....
@@TheMissendenFlyer It will be nice to see a review of the new Multi that I can trust 100%... all other reviews I've seen so far are so gushing and overly positive that I'm left doubting the objectiveness of the review.
Think it's not so warm under the seat because the rear cylinders go off at low revs or ticking over whilst stopped so as to be bit more comfortable in traffic,,,, from Northern Ireland great video,,, check that out see if it is a fact or not 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Here's a question for you sir. Given the choice between the Duke and your Street Triple which would you rather own? As a previous ST owner I'd still choose the Trumpet..... value for money and smiles per mile with adequate performance you can exploit on uk roads think it's a bit of a no brainer. Can understand the allure of the red missile [ have owned a Ducati too] but for me personally a little too much and would be afraid to leave 20 grands worth of machine parked anywhere unattended. Realize am not comparing like for like but, would be interested in your thoughts.
Well if money was no object I'd have the Streetfighter over a Street Triple any day of the week.....amazing machine....but from a straightforward value for money point of view comparing the ST to the SF - the Trumpet wins.
OMG all these comments on the lack of a fuel gauge, I’ve never owned a bike with a fuel gauge and the only time I ran out of fuel was in a car! These bikes have great reviews and one of my favourite other Vloggers (Cali Moto TV) has one but I just don’t get why a comfortable naked bike needs 200 odd horse power? In spite of my advancing years if I wanted a V4 Ducati I’d put up with the backache and get a Panigale 🇬🇧🏍
Excellent variety on the review calendar. Dumb question, does that steering fork dampener actually make a significant difference? Maybe the question is, what does it do? If so, worth the cost? Thanks as ever. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
@TheMissendenFlyer Would you trade your 899 in for a base v4 streetfighter? Because that's the dilemma I have at the moment. Thoughts? (wouldn't be the V4s because 35% tax in hkg means it's 29k pounds for one and that's a bit ridiculous)
Couple points that I would like to add since I've been living with my SF V4S 2021 Stealth. 1. The quickshifter is not good at all in comparison to Aprilia and BMW. It have fail me already several times finding false neutral at high speed and please do not comment that is because I'm not pushing hard or long enough. Because on my Aprilia or or the BMW this has never happened. 2. The bike have several build quality issues at least the 2021 received in US. They are very sensitive to corrosion spots on the aluminum part of the engine. 3. I have got the service light to turn on 3 times already for no reason. 4. The bike some times gasp for air so replace the air filter again this is for the 2021 so I don't know if Euro 5 Make have something to do. 5. Some of the bikes have a water pump problem where it leaks oil. 6. The throttle response when you decelerate it transfer weight ver harshly making handling on roads and turns a bit twitchy 7. If you are over 200 pounds of weight you need to change the front springs suspension. 8. Gas it does drink it a lot :) but there are ways to compensate for that. 9. The bike is expensive so I would not expect any of the issues listed above. This my honest unbias review as I paid for the bike full price so as owner I would not expect any of the issues below also I have reached out to the dealer but they have not being able to help with the QS misses I will reach out about the service light.
Thanks for the real world feedback - sorry to hear of your issues. Still a great bike though correct??? ....or have these taken the shine off it for you?
@@TheMissendenFlyer Let me star saying that I truly like your videos and thanks for the content that you bring please keep going :) . To be honest for the prize that I paid I was expecting a flawless bike for me the biggest issue is the QS as is something that endanger my life so for now I’m not trusting it. When the bike works is an amazing motorcycle and it does put a huge smile on my face. I’m bringing it to the dealer for them to review with Ducati and determine next steps if the QS keep failing like that I probably switch the bike for a new Tuono. I do want the motorcycle to work as I really like how it looks and how the engine behave. I know the QS issue had happened to other owners but it does not seem to happen to everybody I was the h lucky one :(.
Regarding the cost of it, If budget allowed i'd have this in my garage keeping my Panigale company today! I prefer to own my bikes using the somewhat old fashioned method of saving up to buy what i want. It's my opinion that the PCP style scheme is what's driving up the price of bikes for outright purchase. That may well be an outdated opinion i know but as i'm 50 now that's where it comes from so i consider it valid. I wonder if Ducati would sell more if they kept the prices down but then i suppose it would no longer be an aspirational bike manufacturer. Just my two penneth.
I couldn't agree more Darren - I too am "old school" and believe in saving up before you buy something - I know PCP works for many - but I like to own rather than rent my bikes!
Love it, I prefer it to the panagale . I think the panagale looks like a normal faired bike...no offence. But I remember old kawasaki Zs, and the naked look wasn't naked, they were just bikes, and faired bikes were race bikes. So many categories these days. But I digress, the lesson learned to me is beautiful, to expensive, unreliable, but yes I'd have one if I had enough money to lose in bills, depreciation and unreliability just to look cool. Because lets face it, there's other nakeds that are just as good....maybe just not as cool.
5:39 The looks are let down by all those cables & hydraulic hoses on the right side of engine. A dirt trap & damn awkward to clean! They’re hidden by the fairing on a Panigale but Ducati should have found an elegant way to tidy them up on the Streetfighter.
Yes I do agree with that - I guess that's what you get when you "convert" a sports bike to a naked...unlike say the new Speed triple or the KTM SDR which started life as naked bikes....
Now Andy, having declared your undying love for the V4 would you consider after riding it of course changing the GS for a V4 Multistrada? I'm certainly considering it!
It certainly is when you see it for real but the looks of this one certainly split opinion, I didn't like it at first....but it's definately grown on me....
Great review. I would say Streetfighters are not supposed to "look pretty" haha. Brilliant bike but £20k is a lot of money for it, wow. Still a nice bike though.
20k for a work of art (which it undoubtedly is), seems reasonable. But if you want a motorcycle to actually ride, you can do better with that kind of money.
Probably. I think TMF could do a lot worse than try the cafe racer version of the scrambler, it's head and shoulders above the other variants and a super little package for country summer roads.
I think you give the most comprehensive motorcycle reviews out there.
Thank you

Cheers Steve - and yes looking forward to trying the big new Trumpet when it's available.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer and we’re still waiting for your 10,000 mile review of the Triumph Trekker! 😉😂
Great Andy, enjoyed that.
Good to hear
Hi Andy
Thanks for all your videos.
You won't be dissappointed, it is an amazing machine. I'm looking forward to trying the V2 soon too...
I found a video last night posted from a guy in my exact position which also helped tell me I’m on an ok path. Can’t wait for it now.
Are you sure this bike has a “Je ne sai pas quoi” about it? I’m not so sure. I think it should that be a “Non so cosa.” It even sounds better. This is a great review of a highly aspirational piece of kit.
Cheers Trevor - have you tried one of these? If you do you'll see it has that something special about it as most Ducati's do.....
Another good video TMF
Great looking and sounding machine! Love the fact that it's comfy as well... sadly in my country, it costs £39,435 💔
Yikes!
I look forward to all of your reviews, best out there, thank you! I’m not sure if I’m in love with the looks of this bike, especially for $20k.
Yes the looks do split opinions - I hated it when I first saw it, since I've ridden it and seen it in the flesh I now love it!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I note that many motorcycles don’t photograph well….much better to reserve judgement until you can see them in person.
You mention in one vid the change in exhaust note in 4th at 31mph and in this that the engine runs cooler than the Panigale. By any chance does this engine turn off the rear 2 cylinders in certain low load conditions?
Possible I guess....
Nice review! I rode it this summer, had no troubles with the gearbox finding neutral, but the qs had often problems with higher gear under 40-75% load (quick corners). I read somewhere that they sorted this out, could you confirm if the changed something?
My best 2 bikes this year were the Street Triple RS and Streetfighter V4S :)
keep up good work, great video! wold you have time to test the Z900RS from kawasaki?
Yes I would - if they would lend one to me!
@@TheMissendenFlyer i hope that ducati streetfighter will have fuel gauge on the 2022 model. it will be released august/september 2021
Tell me about it Jon!
I am very tempted by this bike.
Me too....
Will be interesting to see what you think of the new Ducati V4 Multistrada with the un Ducati valve system! 😲
Yes I would like a crack on that I must admit - maybe in the summer!
@@TheMissendenFlyer It will be nice to see a review of the new Multi that I can trust 100%... all other reviews I've seen so far are so gushing and overly positive that I'm left doubting the objectiveness of the review.
Think it's not so warm under the seat because the rear cylinders go off at low revs or ticking over whilst stopped so as to be bit more comfortable in traffic,,,, from Northern Ireland great video,,, check that out see if it is a fact or not 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Could be!
Are you only able to get these long termers because you review them? I’d love to test one for more than the 45 minutes most dealers give you
Yes I imaginbe that's the reason!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thought as much. Thanks for the reply though 👍
Fair do's! (no fuel gauge there either IIRC)
Excellent variety on the review calendar. Dumb question, does that steering fork dampener actually make a significant difference? Maybe the question is, what does it do? If so, worth the cost? Thanks as ever. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Well given the bikes power I'd rather have it than not - they prevent uncontrollable steering oscillations (or tank slappers to you and me)......
What experience do you guys have on fuel consumption?
Thirsty!
I'd love to see a review on the Ducati Supersport S. Wanting to invest but need TMF seal of approval!
I wasn't a huge fan of the supersport when I last rode it so not top of my list to try an updated newer one......
Waiting for the side by side comparisons ktm 1290 vs ducati streetfighter
Coming next Monday - stay tuned!
Yes something I've thought about myself -I've not done it yet so I guess there's your answer.....for now
@@TheMissendenFlyer welp I can't wait for the video when you do 👀
Couple points that I would like to add since I've been living with my SF V4S 2021 Stealth.
6. The throttle response when you decelerate it transfer weight ver harshly making handling on roads and turns a bit twitchy
£20k and no fuel gauge? In 2021 that's unacceptable on a £5 bike.
Panigale
@@TheMissendenFlyer unknown word in the text, but thanks for correcting me.
I'll have to ride one first to find out!
Great looking bike
It certainly is when you see it for real but the looks of this one certainly split opinion, I didn't like it at first....but it's definately grown on me....
I prefer the looks of the old streetfighter 1098 with the trellis frame.
Does the v4 vibrate as much as the v2 ??
No - not nearly as much...
@@TheMissendenFlyer thank you
Thank you.
You're welcome Bruce - always good to hear from you!
Hi TMF, what's the name of that jacket you're wearing? Great content as always
It's my Blauer winter pull >> www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/459146/#/23636,0,0
you make me wanna buy one
Has anybody on UA-cam tested the base model. Can't find a test anywhere. How odd.
Do they even sell them??
That is one brilliant bike. But no fuel gauge seems crazy to me. We can go to the moon, but we can't fit a fuel gauge to a motorcycle?
Tell me about it!
Great review. I would say Streetfighters are not supposed to "look pretty" haha. Brilliant bike but £20k is a lot of money for it, wow. Still a nice bike though.
Totally agree on all points....
It looks like the kind of bike you could start riding ,and realize that you spent the day on it.
Exactly right Bill....
If you ever want a relative noob to jump on your podcast with you give me a holler. 😅
Well now I want to know which Ducati didn't make you feel good lmao. Spill the beans!
Wasn't so keen on the XDiavel....
To clean your fence and garage wall just spray it with swimming pool chlorine it will look like new.
And here's me looking at his meter boxes, cos that's what I do for a living.
Is this the UK or southern France ? 🌞
The UK in early autumn....seems a long time ago as I look out on falling snow!!
£20k for a bike with a thirsty engine, 16ltr tank and no fuel gauge. Hmmm. Sounds like a Sunday posing bike for rich boys 😂
20k for a work of art (which it undoubtedly is), seems reasonable. But if you want a motorcycle to actually ride, you can do better with that kind of money.
I agree, but I do love a work of art and it would look nice in my garage next to my 899 :0)
Hold on, hold on, how can a negative for a bike be that another bike looks better?
My warped logic - made sense to me at the time!!!
That'll be the yellow 800 Scrambler you're on about.
Probably. I think TMF could do a lot worse than try the cafe racer version of the scrambler, it's head and shoulders above the other variants and a super little package for country summer roads.
Just imagine one with gold wheels!!!
A man of culture!
Actually i reckon white powder coated wheels would look good as well....
@@TheMissendenFlyer You could be right but may clash with the forks!!
So maybe a new edition to the man cave Andy ? It’s been a while since you got a bike 🤣🤣🤣
Lack of money and space is the issue there Dale - but certainly this is a bike I'd like to have in the man-cave for good one day for sure.....
I'd have the V2 Panigale and use all the saved wonga to buy some painkillers and run it
