I could be wrong , but i think the 261 cylinder has an Nikasil coating . I could be wrong but think the 291 has chrome coating . Pro saw vs homeowner saw. If i was to buy a new saw it would be the 261 . I am still running one of the 029 saws before the super came out.
The engine case is made of Magnesium and the 291 is made of plastic. The cyclinder head is easy to remove to rebuild the saw if you ever had to where as the 291 its not. 4 bolts you can remove the jug on the 261 and have access to the piston. The 291 is 12lbs with 3.75hp. The 261 is 10lbs with 4hp. Both saws are really good but the 261 to me is the cats ass for 50cc saws.
The one on the pro saw is obviously much better, but that's not to say the 291 has alot of vibration. They're actually pretty comfortable to use. A 20" light bar along with a good chisel chain makes them pretty nice to operate. If price isnt an issue then of course the 261 is more comfortable, lighter, and more powerful.
Not sure about that but I don't like the idea of the non removable cylinder on the 291, I think top end replacement would be easier and cheaper on the 261
Love my 261, its my first "pro saw" and im never going back

thanks MR.
Good comparison. The pro saws cost more but you get a lot more besides metal case work!

In Europe is it called the MS 291 C BE ?
How about vibration reduction system?

How about longevity
