I appreciate you attempting to be positive, but the issue is that the director has final say and we’ve already seen what the director of the Rey movie wants to prioritize and it isn’t the “George Lucas-ness” of it all
I loved Ahsoka and watched it multiple times. After her therapy/training with Anakin in the World Between Worlds, the happier, more lighthearted Ahsoka came out. I thought this show was awesome and the villains were so good. Can’t wait for the next season.
All this said, Disney should definitely make a new trilogy of stories of Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie during the post Episode VI period, but audiences will have to accept that the roles will have to be recast with new actors
First, I do not trust what anyone working for Lucasfilm says. They could have good intentions but ultimately, the higher ups can and will control things and not for the better. Second, any film involving Rey would not honor George Lucas, because Rey and the whole sequel trilogy for that matter, does not honor George Lucas. The only way to honor Lucas is for Disney/Lucasfilm to stop making films that take place post ROTJ, or even better they should stop making Star Wars films and shows altogether. However, none that will ever happen.
So… movies and shows that force politics into the story now are NOT tolerated the way they were in the 70s and 80s. Dangerous ground this is. If it feels forced and lacks authenticity, or if it too closely mirrors today’s identity politics, they will fail at the box office. Read the room. People want entertainment over messaging and agenda. It can be done, but needs to be subtle and authentic.
Huzzah for the Saturn Awards! I'm in the camp that believes that Dawson did a great job translating the character to live action, and I'm delighted to see her honored; and of course, I cheered when I saw the Bad Batch honored, as well. Both well deserved.
I'm glad your audio sounds so much better. It's always good to hear someone who's not just negative about SW all the time, and I'm happy to be able to understand you much better now.
Yup, this is just more click bait, this movie will just flop before it even happens. Why do they even bother with it when it just kills the very essence of Star Wars.
@@The_Crusader_Viking You realise this is the problem? If people just reject every new project before they've even seen it, we're never going to see anything good. Admittedly, in all likelihood the move will suck, but I for one will watch it before I decide if it's bad or not.
@ The actual problem with THIS movie is that it's foundation is the sequels, that's the only reason I reject it immediately. Other projects I still give a chance, otherwise I never would have known how good Skeleton Crew was.

I'll be generous and just blame apathy, rather than calling people what I see them as. Do you see some of your commenters poo-pooing your positivity? Unnecessary and, frankly, uncalled for. You may dismiss it as just being jaded, but you're being even-keeled bringing us the negatives and the positives, and the positives are just that...positive. True fans would welcome change. I don't want to go on a rant again. I loved Ahsoka being stoic. Just like I pictured a 50 or 60 year old Obi-Wan would be. Stoic, with the ability to still bring the noise. She was/is a truly gifted lightsaber user. Her stoicism in Rebels was while she was still processing the fall of Anakin, with that potentially adding maybe a little guilt to her persona. Her stoicism in her own show is probably due to her being the senior-most "Jedi" in existence, if Mace is, in fact, no longer with us. Plus, she had a hard-headed pupil that she felt she could've taught better. Good Jedi are very good at introspection and calming themselves. Keep up the great work, Meg!
I honestly feel they need to focus their energy and money on the THOUSANDS of other possible stories they can tell within that universe! A REY movie is a very steep hill to climb without any legs to even stand on!
George Nolfi did The Adjustment Bureau which if anybody hasn’t seen yet I highly recommend you do, it’s an underrated film. A movie that is steeped within some allegories of social commentary that was well executed at the time it came out. If Nolfi takes the approach of something like Andor and incorporates it to the style of Lucas’s films I think that would be good.
If you didn’t watch Rebels and, therefore, don’t know how things got to the point where the Ahsoka series begins, then I can understand why someone wouldn’t like it. But, otherwise, it is… by far… the most “Star Wars” thing Disney has done. Andor is great, but it doesn’t have any of the things that make Star Wars feel the way it does. I’ve watched the entire series in one sitting six times and it never gets old. I can’t wait for season two. And I hope it continues on as films after that.
Great video! I’ve got 2 thoughts: 1. Kathleen Kennedy said last year (something like) she would only want to retire after a big win - perhaps Skeleton Crew was that big win she needed? And 2. Rosario Dawson said that in Ahsoka she was intentionally playing stoic and emotionally closed because that reflects the journey her character has been on over the years till that point. She said that over the next series (again, I think she roughly said something like this) Ahsoka will lighten up a bit and we will see her sense of humour etc more.
Calling skeleton crew a big win is going too far. I'm happy with not a total disaster. And no Kennedy will not leave on her own. She'll have to be pushed out.
It's about time fans realized Lucasfilm would've made a few mistakes before getting on track. George didn't want to guide the ship after he sold the company to them, so there shouldn't be expectations to keep it perfect. He's either into everything or he's all the way out. There's no in between for him. He still would've done unexpected things if he did, but it'll be hard to get these fans to forgive LFL.

I assumed she would retire in 2019 after receiving the Irvin G. Thalberg Memorial Award, but it seems that they have struggled to find a replacement. Dave Filoni lacked experience with live action. Something which has since been remedied since working on _The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew_ and the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu which as it is scheduled to release in the US on 22nd May 2026 we may see a continuation of the _status quo_ until he is free to take over the role of President of Lucasfilm that July. Kennedy will be 73 years old by then, so I doubt she will be renewing her contract beyond then.
I love that you are being positive, star wars fans are so negative even when they have a point and I think the rey movie will be better than some people think.
That Director has ZERO business directing a Star Wars movie. She does documentaries based on the oppression of women from where she grew up. How TF does that give her the skills to direct a Star Wars movie? Also, this Rey movie will most likely never be made. Hopefully. We can all hope. Please stop and never make this movie. Ever.
I honestly hope that it is, as Daisy deserves something better than she had before. It's possible, as shown by Skeleton Crew, that it could happen - provided that the politics are pushed into the background and a coherent plot is written.
If KK leaving lucasfilm soon, It could be interest that new animated series like Commander Cody's Journey will bring Edmon Rampart back from his death in the bad batch finale for his redemption.
While I’m grateful that we at least got a lot of Star Wars content in the last decade, I think the quality in some projects were lacking because Disney was focused on getting as much content out there as possible. Rey doesn’t have to be a one dimensional character with some halfway competent writing. The problem is, it’s going to be a sequel to a story that has some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen in a franchise this big. Daisy Ridley is quite talented as an actress but I don’t see how they can fix the mess they made that close in the timeline. They desperately need to jump forward in time and show the galaxy a couple of hundred years later. Gives them room to start over, and you could tease the fate of all the old characters as plot points down the line. Disney pooped the bed so bad with the sequels we need a new mattress. There’s no cleaning this up.

We all know how well this sort of mentality has gone in recent years. I'm glad to see that, on the surface at least, they seem to be making sensible decisions behind in the scenes in Lucasfilm. KK still needs to go NOW.

Lets hope they burn the project down and focus on something else, no more politics, no preaching themes, no more cheap nostalgia, no more lore breaking , just a good story with brand new characters bring jedis vs Siths and space pilots vs bounty hunters and outside invaders with biotechnology.
Daisy is a fine actress and I hope she and her character can get some redemption from the mediocre Abrams/Johnson cabinet of curiosities. If her character is going to be the lead in a more Andor-esque world and story I'd really welcome it.
Nope, i want to see Star Wars go in another direction. Re make/ de cannonize everything disney created so far. Start from the world between worlds with Ashoka
They had an entire trilogy to make fans give a crap about Rey. The fact they think they can still make it work is mind blowing. Daisy Ridley is very talented, and I enjoyed seeing her other work. But I’ll never spend my money on anything involving the sequel trilogy.
Daisy Ridley's new Star Wars movie will have something in common with Lucas' stories. So ..with that said... The force awakes...and the rest of the movies had nothing to do with the original movies... Go figure .... It seems... NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE MAKING MOVIES THAT THE FANS OF STAR WARS HAD LOVED SO MUCH.... JUST... MORE FEELINGS THAN ACTUALLY MAKING A GENUINELY GREAT MOVIE....
I love Star Wars despite it's flaws and polarizing aspects. I for one was excited when Disney and it's resources entered the scene, and I still hold out hope for them to right the ship. While I'll always be anxious to see new SW content, I am so tired of Disney talking about any project, big screen and small, before principle photography is well under way. How about Disney practice it's own policy and slap an NDA on itself. I know that without question more SW will come out, but I won't buy one damn inch of info released by Disney until I'm seeing a trailer. Their severely flawed attempts at building hype and excitement through "updates" only to let us down with changes and cancellations has many if not most fans burnt out. I'm OK with social media talking about unofficial and unconfirmed rumors and theories, but I'm so tired of the yes-then-no, this-director-no-now-that director, project-announced-project-now-cancelled mind-boggling zig-zagging communications. Rey and the New Jedi Order movie would be great to see, but it's not happening until we start seeing production stills. Right now, Episode X is titled "NO Hope: Not Gonna Happen". I'm not wrong until Disney stops talking & shifting gears and starts actual filming.
The only good news we could receive, is the cancelation of the movie, the firing of Kathleen Kennedy, and Lucasfilm leaving Disney ownership. All of these awards, she supposedly "won", were most likely bought, there's no way she's made anything good that's worth winning.
I’m not sure why but MEG is not being brought to my attention when new vids are added. I have not changed my daily viewing, but hopefully I can “fix” it.
I hope they do move away from the sequels EVEN THOUGH, We have Rey. I like Rey and it’s time she had a better story , not one as a Mary sue, but a true underdog

Daisy is a fine actress and I hope she and her character can get some redemption from the mediocre Abrams/Johnson cabinet of curiosities. If her character is going to be the lead in a more Andor-esque world and story I'd really welcome it.
Excellent news!

Nope, i want to see Star Wars go in another direction. Re make/ de cannonize everything disney created so far. Start from the world between worlds with Ashoka
I can’t wait to see this addition to Star Wars cannon. We just need to ignore the misogynist fanbase. May the force be with Star Wars fans!
Must be awesome making money out of brainless vegetables like you
disney no longer will recieve my $$$

They had an entire trilogy to make fans give a crap about Rey. The fact they think they can still make it work is mind blowing. Daisy Ridley is very talented, and I enjoyed seeing her other work. But I’ll never spend my money on anything involving the sequel trilogy.
Legion and Days of Future past were amazing 🤘🏾
Lol, I tried so hard to listen to this and learn, but your voice just lulls me to sleep.
By a shill to a shill it's great.
The only one who can save star wars is George Lucas
Acolyte traumatized me
I did not wait that long. Solo and Rise of Skywalker were more than enough.
I hope they do move away from the sequels EVEN THOUGH, We have Rey. I like Rey and it’s time she had a better story , not one as a Mary sue, but a true underdog
Give us a Finn movie and Rey can appear in part of it.
