@@marjorjorietillman856 !!!!! I'm originally from East Texas, so when I was growing up, there was quite an influence from cajun/creole dishes as well as Texas dishes. There's some good ideas down that road, I think.

It is a very hard thing to do for something to live up to all the hype and expectations, and I know yours were very high. Judging by the expressions and comments throughout the meal this BBQ seemed to possibly exceed your expectations. As a native Texan, that puts a smile on my face. It also gives you both some reference points when you are back home trying to reproduce some of the tastes and textures on your backyard grill. 🙂
I'm glad you liked the grits. Good grits are hard to find. Grits should not be a big, thick, clump (that's usually how you find them in restaurants). Grits should be so full of butter that they're loose in texture & have a little "flow" to them like gravy... or lava!!! What an amazing meal. I'm like Mr. H, with good smoked meat there's no need for sauce! So glad y'all had this experience!
I usually find that too much BBQ sauce (or any sauce) often overwhelms the flavor of the meat. A hint of sauce is okay, but I prefer to taste the actual meat.
I am just so happy that you’re enjoying your stay in the U.S. and getting a taste of real Texas bbq. You need to bring it all back to the U.K. and show them how to cook! ❤
Great choice for a BBQ joint! Goldee's BBQ was rated #1 in Texas, by Texas Monthly Magazine. Speaking of Elana's "BBQ cure," a lot of Texas barbecue recipes have been known to grow back missing arms and legs!
4th gen Texan and there are so many BBQ joints in Texas and I have tried many of them but it would take more than a lifetime to try most of them . I have not even begun and I am 67 .
I don’t know if you realized it but, you paid an immense compliment to the hit master and his cooking staff when you said that the barbecue didn’t really need sauce. You see, there are two components to the barbecue besides the meat and the would you smoke it with, of course. You have the rub and you have the sauce. You know you’re doing a good job when your rub is so good that no sauce is necessary. Most everybody comes up with their own rub. Trial, error and repetition. They all start out with salt, brown sugar, pepper and then, things get fancy with other herbs and spices. A lot of folks get very secretive about their rub. I’ve only shared mine with two close family members. Some people make their sauce homemade with things like brown sugar, ketchup, spicy mustard, honey, soy sauce, sweet-and-sour sauce, garlic, onions and paprika and other people like me just go with something commercial that is also real good like sweet baby ray which you can get at Walmart and just about any grocery store or something like that. I’m real glad you liked real Texas barbecue. You’re next thing to try with it is a barbecue baked potato were you take that chop beef brisket or that pulled pork you like so much and you put it inside a big baked potato and add other toppings to it. It’s glorious.
I'm 62 years old and born and raised in Ft.Worth. Growing up it was hard to find decent BBQ in Ft.Worth I use to drive to Glen Rose,Tx to Hammonds Bbq for really good food. Just over the last 20 years Ft.Worth's BBQ has taken off like a rocket and keeps getting better.
Back in the '70s and into the '80s, wasn't the "everyman's steakhouse" more of the thing than barbecue? Many rungs below Delmonico's on the ladder of hoity-toity-ness, you could go out one night a week and get steak dinners for the whole family without breaking the weekly food budget. And those who didn't like steak could get chicken, fish, or a burger.Around Fort Worth I specifically remember Steak & Ale and The Hayloft, but there used to be SO MANY. There were national chains and regional chains we'd see (and even stop at) on vacations -- Western Sizzlin', Bonanza, York, Steak+4, Black Angus, Ponderosa, Sizzler, Mr. Steak, and so on and so on -- with so many outlets that they must have oversaturated the market just in time for the healthy eating trend to kneecap the industry. 🥩
@@merriemisfit8406 Thats true we went to a steak house just down the road from us at least once a week. In high school in the 70's i worked at The Black Eyed Pea restaurant on Camp Bowie. There Chicken Fried Steak was king...
@@weljo2001 In what steak world is "chicken fried" NOT the king? In other Fort Worth restaurant news, not only are the steak emporiums closed -- I heard recently that Pulido's closed up shop. Sad to lose that connection to good memories of Texas days. But I always remember this lesson learned there: Serve warm tortillas + butter with your spicy Mexican food, to cut the heat.
Here's a shout-out from south Louisiana. In 2005 and 2006, I lived in Ft. Worth and had occasion to try more than one Texas-style BBQ. That area DOES know how to handle beef. But note that there are actually three major BBQ sauce styles... honey-based, vinegar based, and tomato based. Tennessee features all three in the western end of the state.
What I enjoy about watching Brits reacing to all things America so much is that they discover what an endless adventure awaits them just touring the states. It would be like if someone in the U.S. awoke from a coma having no idea where he was and then discovered that a thousand delights and explorations awaited him before he embarked on a journey to see it all. Not everywhere on Earth is safe for Westerners but in America you can pretty much go everywhere and you'll never reach the end of it before reaching the end of your days. The UK and US are known to one another, meaning it's easy access in both directions.
I mean Europe and the USA is almost the same size as far as land mass. Its weird to think but its almost like countries in Europe are like states in USA. There's just so much diversity with food, culture, its crazy. I can't even imagine going to a country and having the diversity like that, literally could take months to fully explore everything
I don't know if you've ever tried it before,, but i can tell you from experience,, It's definitely worth making your own homemade sausages,, creating your own flavors, varieties & of course taste testing all of them..The possibilities are almost endless,, with different meats,, blends of meats,, spices etc..I have even made some adding mango,, pineapple,, apple,, peaches,, etc..The only meat i would suggest not using is turkey,, only because it has almost no fat,, which tends to make it dry,, althought it can be done as long as you make sure to add fats & fruits that will both help to keep it more moist..I assume you know that the biggest no-no or sin is that you NEVER make ANY kind of holes/cuts in sausages before or during cooking,, because you will loose those incredible juices that make it so tasty & moist..I've seen many people use a fork on sausages while cooking & then wonder why they ended up tasting bad & dry..By the way,, if youve never had bratwurst (Or as we just call them,, brats) but if you haven't,, you have no idea what your missing..While roasting them on the grill is my personal favorite,, they have also been traditionally made for many years by just browning them some first on the grill or in a pan,, then put them in a pot,, or large pan,, etc. with sliced onions,, sweet bell peppers,, some chicken stock & 1 can/bottle of your favorite beer,, then let them simmer away for 1-2 hours,, they can also be easily made in a crock-pot as well..When making your own sausages,, it's important to remember that they freeze very well to have for later.

Welcome to the USA! Each region has their specialties and are all worth the trip just to taste them. There's just not enough time in the average American's life to try them all. Great choice for a BBQ joint! Goldee's BBQ was rated #1 in Texas, by Texas Monthly Magazine. Speaking of Elana's "BBQ cure," a lot of Texas barbecue recipes have been known to grow back missing arms and legs!
😂 Imagine what it can do to other appendages, but lets just keep that under wraps shall we? 😉
I'm from Dallas. I'm glad yall loved it
Oh, this is one of my favorite places to get barbecue then there’s Franklins terry blacks, and the burnt bean company in Seguin, Texas
We also filmed at Coopers and Terry blacks !!! 🤤
The minute the video starts, I have a smile on my face throughout the whole time. I don't know why, I DO Bloody Love you guys! You all make my day.
Aww. BLY ❤️
Hello from Texas!!
I'm truly glad that you enjoyed the Texas BBQ, now you all 3 of you are true Americans,
Here's a shout-out from south Louisiana.
Hello from West Michigan! I'm glad you guys are enjoying food in America!
Yay another person from W. Michigan!
Nothing better than Texas BBQ and Tex-Mex! I'm so jealous!
I can think of many things better than Texas barbecue and Tex-Mex
@@jeffhampton2767 Funny, I can't.
That child will grow up getting to enjoy all the good foods of the world before she starts preschool. Good job Mr. and Mrs. H
HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO EAT BARBECUE WITHOUT TRYING THE BAKED BEANS I THOUGHT BRITS LOVED BEANS
Only on toast. 😂
So American here & i despise baked beans lol😂😂😂
It has to be on toast ! Lol 😆
Gotta have the beans....
@@illmade2 we had some at Coopers Pit bbq I’m DFW. !! And filmed it :)
We all have been waiting for this day on your channel since it began😊
Texas Monthly sure knows how to lengthen the line at my favorite bbq joints
It's, It's, It's Like NERVANA !!!
NEW MEXICO!! Best chili in the WORLD!! Especially Las Cruces, NM
Born and raised in Texas. I could eat BBQ everyday. I'm so happy you guys were finally able to try real Texas BBQ. I do have to say, Spitfire looked a lot like Texas BBQ. If I'm ever in Bristol, I'm eating there. Glad you guys came to Texas! Can't wait to see how the rest of your trip went.
so HAPPY to have y'all in TEXAS. the best state of the republic
Welcome to TEXAS!
Texas, where BBQ is your best friend!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

MR H and Mrs H,
Hello from Virginia
Watching from Guam USA awesome video.
I'm sitting here with the biggest grin on my face watching you all enjoy some authentic BBQ! Love you guys!!!
Mr.H is experiencing a true TEXAS, zen, beef moment. He is ascending to brisket nirvana. 🐄
You have our blessing.
Baby is going to town on those pickles 😋 she seemed to like the brisket at the end 🤠
Foodgasm!!!
Elana definitely started feeling better at the end! She needs her bbq!💖💖💖💖
Absolutely 😊
SO glad it was all you were hoping for!
Hello from Rhode island
So fun watching you guys. Try something that the whole world should have really. It’s ridiculous! I’m from Texas thank goodness.!
Thank goodness for the entire USA and great bbq from many states!
This has got to be one of THE BEST reactions I've seen thus far!!!
Alabama here and I'll tell you this , the worse the building looks the better the BBQ is. I don't know why but that's just how it is.
I love the texture of grits.
Mr H is proof that hard work pays off and dreams do come true.
Glad to see you enjoyed your time in my area.
Can't wait to see what you thought about the other BBQ places.
If you like or dislike the other BBQ don't worry it's because we all like different things and if one BBQ style doesn't suit than find another.
I love how Baby Alana has eaten more American food than most grown British people 😂❤ I sure hope you get some Tex-Mex. BBQ is amazing but Tex-Mex makes everyyyything better.
Hello 👋 My family from across the Pond sending Love ❤ from Pensacola Beach Florida. ❤❤❤
13:33 "I could wear that like a scarf" I almost spit out my beer at this 🙂
Joining you from North Carolina ❤
That wasn't a meal. That was a life changing experience. Yes good can be absolutely beautiful when it's done right.
Hello from Maine !
This is Mark from Texas God I love you guys so much keep doing what you do please please thank you very much
So happy you enjoyed Texas and our BBQ. I know everyone is proud of their home. Somehow we Texans just crank it up an order of magnitude approaching insanity. But, we do love our State. We love to be hospitable and we love to share our food with everyone. Texas welcomes you, so come and eat! 😁 I am overjoyed your trip to America has been smashing. I lived in the U.K. for 2 .5 years and loved it. I met so many wonderful people and fell in love with England. I hope the same is true for you with America. We may annoy people with our patriotism, but we DO love people coming over and giving us a chance to show our friendlies and to share what a wonderfully diverse country we are culturally and with our foods. You're a wonderful family. Much love to you! Thank you for blessing us with your visit. Please come back again!
I want these guys to go viral so bad theyre so wholesome. also just make a video talking about your experience with everyday americans we love that type of stuff. I'm sure you had a nice time people here for the most part are real nice just like anywhere else.
goldee's bbq is a must stop whenever i can make my way to texas! the food looks incredible
it is such a treat to watch yall enjoy yourselves as a family for something so wholesome as a good ole texas bbq. and i hear goldee's calling my name! thanks for sharing your experience. makes me smile! baby h is the sweeeetest! you and the mrs are a delight :)
I love that you got to try a place in my stomping grounds.
The reason Baby H wasn't eating so much was because there was no dipping sauce. She LOVES to dip.
Don’t forget some Tex-Mex while you are in the Lone Star state.
So glad y'all got to try Goldies now for comparison we need to get y'all to try Terry Black's (another Texas #1 rated BBQ place in Dallas.) Hopefully now y'all understand why we were sounding off in the comments. We Texans are a proud bunch especially about BBQ. Much ❤ from Texas!!
LOve em both. Goldee's exploded in popularity due to youtube. And the staff INTERACTS with customers genuinely. Not fake stuff. They already know they have a reputation to uphold. Same thing with Black's. Here in CA, the staff are apathetic.
I love it when families can enjoy amazing foods and share it with the world! Keep going THREE AMIGO's you are all wonderful. Cheers!
I’m so happy y’all finally got a taste of real Texas BBQ. Besides 6 years in the Army, I’ve lived my 45 year life in Texas and I appreciate it immensely. I just can’t imagine what it’s like to try for the first time well into adulthood. It must be an out of body experience! There are many great BBQ joints in Texas but I hope y’all got around to try Terry Blacks which is my favorite. God Bless you and your family.
when he bit into the fatty end of that brisket he saw heaven 😁😁😁
Baby H has a healthy appetite much like her dad! Hope you have a great time in America! Bon appetite!❤
Oh man. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. Wonder if I can convince him that he wants BBQ for dinner.
Welcome to the USA! Each region has their specialties and are all worth the trip just to taste them. There's just not enough time in the average American's life to try them all. The South's bbq versions, New England's seafood, New Orleans cuisine, Tex-Mex, Soul food...the choices go on and on. The motto is "So much food, so little time"!😄 Truly hope you can find a way to sample much of it. Keep coming back if possible. You'll always find good food and welcoming people. From the looks on your faces while at Goldee's, you'll fit right in! And definitely try Terry Black's bbq if you get the chance. Absolutely amazing too! ❤
They had me at South Carolina BBQ sauce! I grew up in South Carolina and I really miss their unique type of BBQ. Might be worth a drive from Tulsa to Ft. Worth to try this place!
Thank you Texas in helping to keep america proud and thank the people coming from other countries that have come to spend their vacations with us. People in all of america you will not meet a sweeter , kinder , hospitable and most welcoming people then our southern folks. Y'all come back to see us again when yoou can. TYVM
I hope ya’ll are having a great time in Texas!
Pork-belly paradise. His eyes glazed over, smile on his face, nodding in bliss. As a Texan who lived in FTW for many years, this was fun to watch.
I will not deny that Texas has some great food! While you are in the general area though I would recommend that you ease to the east a bit and hit Louisiana up as well if you can fit it in. Us southerners really enjoy food. In my opinion you can't go wrong in any of the southern states in that regard.
I feel bad now....FW resident here....and have yet to go there yet !
You won't be disappointed, but I hear there are lots of other great bbq places we didn't get to try so you many be spoilt for choice.
Looks delicious! That little girl gets more and more beautiful and she seems so smart. I wish i can get my kids to be a good eater like her ❤ hope you all have so much fun! Be safe!
♥️
I love the way y’all ate the brisket without knife and fork. That’s the way it is done in Texas…bon appetit!!
I'm a Texan, I'm a BBQ fan. I tend to prefer the Hill Country BBQ but Goldee's is my favorite place to enjoy BBQ in the best country in the USA, Texas. Happy ya'll enjoyed it!
The best “country” in the USA? Yes, I get what you’re saying, but definitely disagree.

We had Chinese food for dinner, but I really wanted that BBQ! Lol My son is getting ready to open a BBQ restaurant. I can't wait.
I'm so glad y'all got to try Goldee's! It looked phenomenal!
Hope your son has success like the folks at Goldee's with his business. Please let us know the details and if we are near at any point we would love to go support him
