If the friends live in or close to London, they could have experienced Kansas City style barbecue at a place called Prairie fire but it went out of business because not enough customers to keep them in business. Additionally, their expenses became too high, and I believe they said Brexit had something to do with it.

The thing about American BBQ is it's actually simple and do able. It's not like other cuisines that require you to blow up skin and tie a knot or roll a piece a meat into a dough. It can be very simple and yet you need to trial and error it.
Definitely. The key is to invite lots of people and have everyone bring a covered dish. What we do around here is break it down by protein, side dish, stuffing/dressing, dessert, etc. Then have people sign up for them and set the ratios right so you don't end up with 23 green bean casseroles. You may have to provide recipes if they're not used to this. Just throwing any old thing together can be fun but it's better when organized.
Do a fried turkey for Thanksgiving, you'll love that too, just becareful defrost the bird and make sure most water is gone before putting it in the grease.
Watching a Brit brother fire up an offset smoker warms my American heart. Keep up the hard work - BBQ is half art half science so don’t ever forget that!
First time my Egyptian neighbor asked me if I could help him cook a brisket for his friends (20lb) I told him sure. At 2 am I rolled my 450lb offset smoker over to his house and knocked on his backdoor, waking him up. He was like, "What the hell are you doin." I said, "Get your ass up, it's time to start the pit!" We got it started and I whooped out the first beer at 3am. He had no idea what he was asking for. LOL You're doing great job, Mr. H. My family is from Luling / Lockhart area in Central Texas and you are honoring our cooking style well!

Just incredible. I am continually impressed by how much, how fast, and how much effort you guys put into all this. The food looks great and now it really makes sense when you hear that cliche about food being "prepared with love." Keep making Texas proud! Edit: it isn't necessarily a bad thing if you mess up or don't get it right for your friends or neighbors. If they will really be honest with you (either on camera or not) and offer critique along with where you feel you mess up, it will only show them through their taste and the texture of food as it improves, and you'll absolutely know when you nailed it through your experiences and through your practice.
